Description

Found a small distributed camping site in the Mark Twain National Forest. Despite the designation, it's a state park.

The area is a very small. There's a turnabout at the end of the [impressively well maintained] dirt road leading in with a single fire-ring in the center. The area is fenced off. Ostensibly, this is a small public plot surrounded by private property. It's definitely legit though. Could be room for 3-4 vehicles.

Note that previous visitors have not adhered to LNT principles. I found a nontrivial amount of trash left behind. Nevertheless, if you're passing through Missouri on I-70, this is a convenient place to camp for a night if you prefer dispersed/primitive sites.

Just as advertised. Very scenic. Got here on a Monday so very quite Start. Lots of flies and some trash, grass is high here in summer. BEWARE OF TICKS!!!

I’ve stayed here twice, last summer and a couple weeks ago. Beautiful spot with open fields and coyotes. But a little sketchy. Cars roll up and then leave throughout the night. Last time i stayed there a car was creeping up with no headlights at 5am while i was leaving.

Enough space for two trailers. Friend and I camped with a truck and two tents, no sweat. Not a lot of wood to burn, but good pits and decently maintained. Carry extra trash out if you can and it should be good as new after a while. Good signal on Verizon.

Like other reviews, this is a fine site for a quick overnight in a somewhat isolated area with some decent cell service. Came in a RV and it seemed fine for the few hours here.

As described great stop if your traveling out I70, only negative was it might be a party spot for locals had 2 random cars pull in and out at 1am and again at 3am

Nice place to stay the night. Two other vehicles there. We got there and left in the dark so we didn't witness the beautiful sunrise pictured, but it was nice and quiet besides the sounds of nature. be warned of mud around the circle though, we got stuck and took 3 hours to get ourselves out. Much better than a rest stop / walmart

Easy to find, but lots of trash and boggy. Could be the best spot ever with some care. Two bars of AT&T LTE.

As described. A bit off the beaten path but worth it!

I can happily say that I am the only one here tonight and that the location is immaculately clean. It has rained recently and there are some soft spots so watch for mud. The evening summer chorus of cicadas, frogs, and coyotes was incredible. Cows next door but they wander away at dusk. I can’t really believe such a perfect spot exists so close to civilization. It was like I was a hundred miles from anyone. Not one non-nature sound the whole night.

Absolutely a sweet spot. A little circle road hamlet tucked in between acres of open fields. Tons of birds and beautiful sunsets. No one came when we got here so we had the place to ourselves.

Such a great spot. Very peaceful.
We loved it but I confirm people leave a lot of trash, it’s too bad!
Ticks galore so careful with your dogs!

Report Check-In

Absolutely an amazing spot! Plenty of places to camp and enjoy a fire. Enjoy

Like its posted, its a simple secluded spot that overlooks farm land and prairies. Great for sunset and sunrises. A great backup if the other park is out of season.
