Description

This place is huge! It has a lot of long-term residents from mostly the US and Canada, but also space for those passing through or weekending from Guadalajara. Some spots are well-shaded under large trees and every spot has electricity and water (30 AMP available). There are pools, washrooms and showers. They have about 5 WiFi connections at 100 mbs speed so you just need to choose the one that suits your location best. If you are a sports fanatic, then you may be right at home with the volleyball, beach volleyball, soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts all inside the park walls. A lighthouse is located closest to the water and the area around the lighthouse also doubles as an off-leash area. Plenty of playground equipment for kids as well. The price is 500 pesos for one night.
2,950 for one week
10,100 for one month
30 amps available.

From the very first contact with Teo, I was warmly welcomed and the stay was very easy to get booked. I immediately felt a sense of "home" and was embraced by the locals and regular weekenders. What was initially supposed to be a 1 week stay quickly turned into longer because I have enjoyed this property and all the amenities immensely! I cannot recommend this place enough, and now I am looking to host my mother's 70th birthday here instead of in Colorado because it's affordable and has activities for everyone!

Report Check-In

I had camped here a couple nights in 2022 & liked it. The place is different now. 480 pesos per night! Very Expensive if you are just passing through. Only 1, yes 1 shower for women & 1 shower for men. We didn’t use all the amenities & pool & etc. No hot water for the 20+ showers over at the big pool. It has pros & cons. Teo is the manager. In 2024 it’s more like a long term trailer park. Beware if they tell you that the office opens at a certain or that the staff will meet you, it’s a lie. Check in before 5pm.

Report Check-In

I visited the campground in early December 2023. Reading all the write-ups, I felt this was the campground where I could stay close to the lake. The drive from the decent road was about one and a half miles of some of the worst roads I have traveled in Mexico. I could only do about eight miles per hour. The campground was tightly congested upon arrival, with minimal space between the c campsites. Trash cans were full, which is no excuse for the price one has to pay. I did not stay but wanted to provide an objective view of my visit.

Report Check-In

Excellent communication with Teo for booking. Very nice, quick responses, very accommodating. Excellent campsite. I recommend

Do not go out of your way to come here. Positives: it’s really safe, parking is level, hookups work. Negatives: cold showers (I hear sometimes they are hot), one single washing machine for a huge number of RVs, a dryer that will turn off if there’s not enough gas, the pools are not inviting, the place promises much more than it delivers, the price is high for just hookups, you don’t get a map to help you with the strange layout.
No need to avoid the place but it’s not exciting in any way.

If you are looking for a relaxing escape, Roca Azul is THE BEST option around the Chapala area. All of the staff are very welcoming and helpful when you need assitance. It has beautiful green areas and clean pools. The staff are always walking around making sure the areas are clean and safe. They manage great prices for RV´s, club memberships and hotel stays. I highly recommend visiting it.

Report Check-In

Nice enough place. Standard RV Park that you might stay at in the US. $420 MX for just one night. The lake area is very smoky, so the air quality was no real better than Guadalajara. The lifers staying here seemed to love this place though.

Report Check-In

Also, it's probably the best place in the Ribera though, mostly due to its location, being so close to the city and the Chapala-Ajijic hub.

Report Check-In

Could be better, for sure, but I've seen worst. And to be honest, you get what you pay for. Its overall look is fine and the other guests and lifers are a great help when you need it most. Service is great and they really care for what they do. I'll give them a 8/10.

We spent one miserable week at Roca Azul! We left one day early. We even took 5 cockroaches with us! Shower were disgusting!tents everywhere, washed a load of bed linens and the dryer had no gas to dry it. Cost me 250 p to have it dried. Manure. Was put in the field and 2000000 flyers came. Cats everywhere. So far from to shops, road in was going to kill our truck. Thermal pool was so full and know one got out to go to use the bathroom and there was only one toilet. We have stayed at many parks and this one was the worst!

Report Check-In

There are many good things about this park. Friendly people, nice setting near the lake, shaded spots if you can find one - generally kept up very well with lots of amenities.
There are also many problems. The biggest is the road getting into and getting out of the park. It is an old cobblestone Road littered with potholes and speed bumps that are tough to see. They don’t have any markings, pain or signs. It is only about a mile and a half from the road but Very difficult to navigate and you have to go so slow that it takes a very long time. The place looks like it’s close to town, but you have to figure 15 to 20 minutes just to navigate that road to get on your way. I can’t for the life of me understand why they don’t invest a tiny bit of money to make that road more manageable. Also, It is a “pay to play resort” meaning that it gets super crowded on the weekends with people that are not in the RV community. They do have two pools, but very difficult to navigate when it is busy with locals that pay to have a membership. Also, there are a lot of full timers that are completely nasty. as all of you know, there is no particular dog leash rule in Mexico, as there are many stray dogs everywhere. My dog is actually specifically trained to be off leash as I have epilepsy and he has a medical alert dog. However, that was not enough for the Karen that I had had been there 10 years and kept complaining that my dog was off leash, despite the fact that I explained this to her and there had not been a single incident with him. She was just one of those jealous Karen’s enforcing the rules. And unfortunately, Teo gave into her. Also, management is not that attentive and is dismissive. There refund policy is zero. Never. No matter what the circumstances.
The bathrooms are clean during the weekdays because it is not busy. On the weekends, they are dirty and the trash overflows everywhere because they don’t have a pick up system to deal with the crowds. We wind up leaving 10 days early for a five week stay because of the things that I mentioned plus a few other things that I don’t think would be helpful to the iOverlander community. I don’t want to be petty.
Also, for those of you that depend on water pressure it is hit or miss despite the YouTube video that they put out.

At this time of the year we thought it was low season but the price was still 420$ per night and 2 160$ for one week (small discount)

Report Check-In

Did not like this place. Had to walk so far just to have a shower to find out there’s only one shower and there’s a lineup. The electricity went out a few times, and it wasn’t even rainy season. They put manure on the fields beside us which attract 1 000,000,000 flies. What is the residences dogs both barks all night for the six nights we were there so off we went.

Report Check-In

This park has certainly seen better days. Sure, they spend a lot of time and resources on maintaining the grounds, ball fields and pool areas and it's very beautiful. But the "free laundry" consists of one old washer and dryer for the whole park. Many of the bathrooms/showers do not work and the wifi is spotty. Couple that with the issues the town seems to have with frequent power and water outages and the time of year we visited being about the most miserable weather (April & May) and really thick smoke in the whole lake area on top of that (I learned this is common this time of the year) and we have decided to move on after a month here.

Merci a eux tous.

Report Check-In

Nice grounds and amenities but waaaay too expensive. We paid MX$420 for one night in March, surrounded by full-time RV folks. Not really our cup of tea as overlanders traveling in a truck camper but we needed a safe place to set up. Wild camping options are limited around the lake. Internet where we parked was spotty at best so this place really wasn’t worth it for us.

Report Check-In

This place is great and incredible and huge, they have more than 5 hectars of green areas, pickle ball courts, basquet ball, soccer field, voleyball, Tennis courts, thermal pool fill up everytday, they have a huge swimming pool room temperature that they are fixing right now and they also have a nice restaurant that serves snacks: mini pizzas, bonelss, hotdogs, hamburgers, chilaquiles, hotcakes, eggs, and groceries to help not to going to the town for the beer and ice. Sicnerly much better that any other park in Mexico, the prices are lower than the rv parks in the beach and they incluides in their fee the electricity. 8,000 pesos for one month compare to the beach where we stay at 14,000 pesos a month its much better here.

Report Check-In

reading through the comments, and based on my experience, you will love this place if:

1) you have a big rig

2) you have kids and want lots of options for them to play

3) you're nervous about travelling in mexico and want to travel in a caravan

we don't fall into any of these categories, and based on our 3 months travelling mexico can say that in our experience this place is very mediocre for the price. it's by far the most expensive place we've stayed, and by far the most run down. it does the trick if you need to plug in, dump your holding tank or do laundry, but otherwise I think there's much better places to stay if you want to truly explore mexico! wifi was pretty spotty, and the pool was dirty enough looking that we decided not to go in. bathrooms didn't have toilet paper, soap or paper towel. laundry is free but there's 1 washer and 1 dryer for probably 100 RVs.

a note about the road - we're in a 4x4 sprinter and thought it was totally fine. yes it's cobbles, yes it's got some potholes, but it's not that bad and it's not that long even if you're in a big rig and nead to go super slow.

UPDATED TO ADD: the people who run this place are great. super friendly and helpful.

there's some old gringos here who are kind of assholes though and think they own the place (not super nice to people just staying a night or two). Also our neighbours warned us about 3 separate RVs that have dogs that attack other dogs, so that's fun.

Report Check-In

we have been here for 2 weeks around 2100 pesos per week. what a bargain. 3cway hookup and excellent wifi. rough road in, but if you go slow any vehicle can do it. Fabulous surrounding area to explore.

Nice quiet place, close to town. Some water issues and power but overall very nice place.

A bit of a weird place. Far from town but is a huge rv park, I guess it’s good if you want to stay by the rv and read? Good wifi.

Also the road to get there is horrible, super bumpy cobble street.

Absolutely amazing !! Staff is very helpful and courteous, the place is very clean and the pueblo is just ten minutes away with all the amenities. You can really feel the Mexican lifestyle!! They have a thermal swimming pool and a huuuge regular one, there are tennis courts, pickleball courts, gym, basketball courts, soccer fields and they are very honestly priced

Very big rv parc, we stayed one Night. It was not full then we had space on a big grassy site.
Everything is very old and seems to be in progress or broken.

1 small restaurant and 1 small tienda.
No walking access to the town
I would recommend only if you need to. Dump, laundry, water...

We only stayed two nights but this park is beautiful and the staff very friendly. I needed a copy made and Teo was very happy to accommodate me. The location is beautiful and the grounds are amazing.

Report Check-In

We decided to stay at Roca Azul RV park because it was the only affordable caravan I could find that would meet us at the border and lead us through Mexico. I read great things online, but reviews can be misleading. So we figured we'd stay for the 2 months (included in the caravan price) and go elsewhere if we didn't like it. We've been here for a month now and are absolutely loving it.
Roca Azul RV Park is about 15 minutes from the center of Jocotepec and the amenities are just endless. The thermal pool is amazing. The gigantic pool is a little too cold right now for my Texas blood. But I see lots of people enjoying it and I plan to join them come summer. The park also has multiple basketball courts, a tennis court, and a brand new pickle ball court. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous. There's beautiful and plentiful green grass for kids and pets alike. There's a nice boardwalk that overlooks the lake where we've caught some truly stunning sunrises. If you're a snowbird looking for a wonderful place to spend the winter, you should definitely look into it. We are a fulltime family of 5 with 3 small children who came down here to spend the winter. But we've found a wonderful school that has welcomed all 3 of our kids. We've found wonderful English speaking dentist and doctors in town and
have decided to extend our stay for at least a year. So if you're a traveling family looking to give your kids a once in a lifetime experience in a super charming Mexican town, less than hour away from big cities amenities, you really should check out Roca Azul.
And another thing, the internet actually works! (We spent 15 months RVing the west coast of the U.S. and 9.9 times out of 10 the free internet that most parks advertise is a TOTAL joke.)
Lastly, Teo the manager of Roca Azul, is one of the kindest and most patient souls you'll find.

Report Check-In

This is our second year spending our winter at Roca Azul rv park. This park can accommodate big rigs, the sites are large with sewer, 30 amp and good water pressure. The surroundings are beautiful with many beautiful mature trees and flowers. The fun begins with a beach volleyball court, 2 tennis courts, 2 basketball courts with the newest addition, 2 pickle ball courts. There are 2 thermal pools for relaxing in and a large swimming pool to enjoy. Another new addition is a Mexican restaurant on site, open Thursday-Sunday.
The park is very clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. You can ride your bike or even walk the 2 km to the town of Jocotepec to purchase your daily needs.

Report Check-In

At one point, Roca Azul used to be quite the swanky place with a marina, yacht club, hotels and a lot of clientele from Guadalajara. Then the lake level dropped precipitously and everyone stopped coming. The same family still owns it. To their credit, they are spending money on upgrading some of the facilities. But it has a very long way to go.

If you don't know this area, it's about 1.5 miles from Jocotepec and about 20 from Ajijic and Chapala. Not having a car or motorcycle is a significant disadvantage. People complain about the roads to get to Roca Azul, but just go slow and enjoy looking around. The area is surrounded by raspberry fields with Driscoll being the primary company. It's not organic farming so keep that in mind if you're super sensitive to pesticides.

I'll outline the issues we had first and then will get to what's good about it. If you have a caravan of 30 RVs show up, the internet goes to hell. That's pretty much standard anyplace, including the US. But Roca Azul's advertising isn't honest about it. If they're going to continue to try to get huge numbers of caravans running through, they need to upgrade.

There is exactly one washer and one dryer for the entire place. Yes, they're free. And they're ancient Kenmore appliances, so they'll probably last forever and are reliable. But I got used to getting up at 5:30 am to do laundry during busy times. If they could add a couple more, it would help.

No one enforces the leash law here. Thankfully, there are responsible owners who do keep their dogs under control. But plenty don't. There are several vicious dogs owned by people who live here full time. In particular one woman in the house trailer near the lighthouse has a dog that has attacked and bitten at least 3 dogs that we are aware of. It's been reported to Teo and yet she still lives there with her unacceptable animal. Despite there being free bags around, people can't pick up their dog's crap. I wouldn't run barefoot on that soccer field under any circumstances. There are also cats everywhere. Most are in good condition because everyone feeds them. But a spay/neuter clinic onsite would sure help. In talking with residents who've been there a while, the cat population explosion is relatively recent.

We often had problems with water in the mornings, as in there wasn't any. And then we had 2 days where there was no water at all because the pressure tank system failed. It had obviously been on its way to failure for some time but they waited to fix it until it did. We always keep our water tank full even when we are on RV park water. That way we still can do dishes and have showers. Yes, you can get bottled drinking water. And yes you can walk over by the big pool to use their shower.

You're definitely going to want to invest in a Hughes RV Autoformer to correct for low and high power spikes. Power fluctuates here regularly and some of the posts have non-working electrical hookups.

Roca Azul put in a bunch of extra sewer and water line in order to attract more RV's. The problem is that the system wasn't designed to handle it. Our friends had sewage bubbling up next to them. It appears that Roca Azul realized they had overextended and started removing some of the expanded lines. Hopefully they have resolved the problem.

The big pool was drained and tile work done while it was still high season. Why this couldn't have waited until April was puzzling. The same thing was true of the smaller thermal pool. And as for "thermal", it's bathwater warm at best. If you want truly hot water, go to one of the spas in San Juan Cosala.

When the big caravans come, you are squished in like sardines. While we recognize that RV parks can be this way, it was overwhelming.

On the positive side, the staff are very kind. There are a ton of beautiful birds. Sunrises and sunsets by the lighthouse are gorgeous. Watching the fishermen bring in their boats and catch of the day is also enjoyable. The little tienda onsite is convenient. The big trees and grounds are beautiful. It was a decent place, but there are a couple of new RV parks going in near Chapala and we may check those out for next time.

Report Check-In

After reading all the good comments we were expecting an outstanding place…. And highly disappointed ☹️ … if you are a nature lover , just pass this place . Too many people , we feel like sardines in a tin…

NEW

We took advantage of the "buy two months, get a free caravan escort to the park" and don't regret it at all. This is our first time RVing in Mexico at it was nice to be with a group.
The park itself is great. Lots of space, soccer fields, pools, little convenience) snack bar and the most epic sunrises. Highly recommend going to watch the sunrise at the light house.
Teo, the jefe, was super nice and helped with any problem that occurred immediately. The town nearby, jocotepec, is as Mexican as it gets. We loved it. Great tacos & cheap beers.
Ajijic and chapalla are close by, but I prefer the jocotepec, as the other towns had many gringos.
1 month didn't feel long enough.. super happy we went with two.
My site was close to the lake. I could see the lake when lying down in my bed.. and the price was more than reasonable. Half price and way more space then anywhere along the coast.
The only thing that would make this RV park perfect is if the lake was cleaner, but that's not the RV parks fault.

very overpriced for tent camping! 350!!! no electricity or water! didn't like it! toilets and showers were very far away.

I had a great time in Roca Azul with my partner, this place is enormous, it has a view to the biggest lake in Mexico called "Lago de Chapala", I would never forget the memories watching the sunset next to the lighthouse, all the staff including the manager are really friendly, the amenities are in good condition, and the weather is matchless, absolutely I am going to be there next year.

Report Check-In

long nasty road to get in, and no obvious signs. But we made it, looks like a lot of work going on for improvements/repair. Here for a week, and hoping we have a great time. $2160mx for a week. 30 amp power is good, water pressure good as well.

Nice place to spend time with family and friends. You can enjoy every moment in this Nice place

Roca Azul is a fantastic place and we can’t wait to return again soon. The grounds are beautiful and the accommodations are great! The bathrooms are clean, the swimming pools are so nice! The people that work there are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. We were only planning on staying a week, but changed our plans and stayed a second week because we were having such a wonderful time! We totally recommend Roca Azul to anyone looking for a beautiful place to visit! The weather is perfect and you won’t find a nicer place to stay! Roca Azul is the best!

Most likely the best RV park in México. Lots of places to visit near the park and beutiful gardens on the site.

Report Check-In

Just spent a week there. They are upgrading the entrance to the camping/RV site and the rain has turned the place into a mud pit. Entertaining watching the excavator pulling vehicles out of axle deep mud. Hopefully the upgrades will be done soon. We are a bit concerned about the new road for big rigs. It now has more sharp corners and a big tree in the middle of the road. We will be returning later in the month and submit an update on conditions.

Report Check-In

So far one of the most peaceful, beautiful well-built RV parks we’ve stayed at these 6 months in México. We’ve stayed a lot of places, but there are so many lovely things about this place. The people that operate and run the place, so warm and accommodating and helpful. The place is not only large and spacious, the pool is massive, the bathrooms are clean and well appointed, and well-priced at 350 a night full hookups. Feels like a nature reserve. The road coming in isn’t bad at all, and wifi is present. We can easily see ourselves staying here long term. Thanks to Téo and everyone here.

Report Check-In

Spent two nights here. Overall.. alright campsite.

The wifi only seemed to work well if you were anywhere but the field. However, all the sites here were taken and full except for the field. So if you want wifi you need to sit by the office. What makes it worse is we barely saw anyone here so it seems that all the good spots in amongst the trees with shade are just for storing trailers.

The pool was large but the water level was pretty low so it’s only about waist deep and the filter was broken so there was a good amount of bugs floating in it. The grounds are under construction so a lot of it is torn up. The laundry was closed, they did open it and it is free however there is only 1 washer and 1 dryer for the whole place so it’s tough to get a spot and they are old and very slow. There is no restaurant right now because of renovations.

There is full hookups at most of the sites. The bathrooms are big and plenty of showers. Only cold water in the showers. You can walk to the lighthouse and look at the lake. You can go down to a grassy area by the lighthouse to let your dog off but there was a lot of garbage down there so we didn’t.

Overall it’s a nice property to spend a night or two. We paid 350/ night. Wouldn’t stay any longer then that.

Report Check-In

This is possibly one of the best RV parks in Mexico. Fully serviced large lots, 30 amp , sewer and water, many sites offer shade. The park has several pools, a huge pool for swimming and 2 thermal pools , one for the children and one for adults. If you are sports minded you can play volleyball, tennis and soccer. They also have an on site restaurant and access to laundry facilities. The park is only 2 kilometres from Jocotepec where you can purchase most things one would need while camping.

Report Check-In

Theo, the park manager, went above and beyond during my arrival and stay. My RV suspension broke 1.5 km before I got to the park. I called him and he brought out the neighborhood! He called the welder, the auto mechanic, maintenance, and everyone came by, got the dimensions for my suspension, and created a short term fix so I could move it. Then Theo put me up in a house near the park for free. It was enormous and he insisted on me not paying him. They had the parts ordered and fixed my RV within a couple days and the suspension they built was better than the original suspension! Then I got to the park and was treated just as well there. The hookups were great. There were so many amenities and plenty of room for my dogs to run around in a nearby field. The lighthouse trail was beautiful and the neighbors were incredible. I really don’t know what else to say except that I’ve been overwhelmed by everybody’s kindness and willingness to help so selflessly. Infinite Stars for Theo and Roca Azul!

Report Check-In

The road to get here is very bumpy and takes a long time going as slow as you need to. There currently seems to be some construction that makes it hard to get in and out. My spot had no dump station and the electricity didn't work. And the office people are too preoccupied to help with anything

Report Check-In

This is an RV park first, campground second in the sense that most visitors have their own bathroom and shower. For people in a tent, there's one shower and few bathrooms. Neither are very clean and they were not cleaned in the 36 hours we spent here.

For electricity, 30 Amp connectors are the norm, hooking up with a domestic two prong plug is a problem.

Other than that, it's a well kept park with lots of facilities: swimming pool, tennis courts, thermal bath, free laundromat, grass to camp on, three way hookups and a nice community of happy campers. The bathrooms near the pool are being renovated.

Paid MXN 350 per night for two people in a roof top tent and electricity.

Report Check-In

Big facility, beautiful sunrises over the lake. Lots of activities at the park - pools, sport courts, playgrounds, soccer field, etc.
Wi-Fi is not as strong as reported but not horrible either. Restaurant and roadway around the park are currently under renovation but they say they’ll be done in April.

Report Check-In

Large campground. Spence for bigger vehicles and tents. Big recreation area and pool. Restaurant currently under construction.

Fantastic new reception and toilets, improvements are ongoing and transforming this already amazing place. Tranquility and a break away from the bustle of Guadalajara and Ajijic, (still very close by). A real slice of Mexican hospitality. Very welcoming and tremendous staff are attentive to everything you need.

Wifi mal gut mal schlecht.

Report Check-In

Spend one night here in van. Tap water, 110v and 30a hookups, laundry, pools. Nice place.

Report Check-In

Good campsite very quiet. Lot of thinks to do : beach-volleys, tennis, 2 swiming pools...
free washing machine. All is clean. Very good.

Report Check-In

rough, cobblestone road leads to this place. Noisy and no privacy as all places are very close to eachother. We will stay 2 nights and see about the facilities but this is certainly not the fantastic place people wrote about. at least not if you like a tranquilo place

Report Check-In

Quiet and nice place to spent some relaxing days. We enjoyed the thermal pool a lot. Washing machine and tumble dryer for free.

Report Check-In

We enjoyed our stay here. We paid the standard Mexican camping price (350Ps) for car camping, no hookup. The camping area is well grassed and maintained by a hard working crew. There is also a tennis court but the surface is too uneven to play a real game. There is no beach access, but you are by the lake, with an overlook. The lake is too polluted to swim in. The wifi is good during the day but degrades to a crawl in the evening as everyone is "sucking on the straw" lol. And the showers are hot. All in all, it's a better than average Mexican campground for an average Mexican price.

Report Check-In

We came to Roca Azul RV park from Canada by way of the free caravan offered to the park from the Mexican/ US border at Nogales AZ. Teo the Mexican national who led the caravan was extremely helpful getting us the required paperwork and permits and the caravan trip was well organized and a good experience. Once arriving at Roca Azul we were surprised at how large and beautiful this place is. Large campsites with all the amenities (30amp) lots of shade trees, clean restrooms, good WiFi, swiming pools and amenities like tennis courts and volleyball courts and a huge soccer field. Sorry no pickle ball courts. Of course the weather is brilliant. 72 to 75F everyday, no humidity it’s just wonderful. The small town of Jocotepec is just 1 1/2 miles away, it’s very Mexican, not much English is spoken but you can get almost anything you would need there. Guadalajara is just 45 minutes away with Costco, Walmart and Scotiabank easy to get to. We are spending our entire winter here, we love this place and would recommend it to anyone.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

We arrived at this campsite unsure what to expect going by some of the reviews but we have been very pleasantly surprised. This place is absolutely gorgeous! The facilities are great. You have multiple pools to choose from as well as multiple toilets and shower blocks. The staff are super helpful and friendly and the other guests made us feel so welcome it felt like home almost immediately. We originally planned to stay for 4 nights but so far we’re staying for 3 weeks. A few people have commented about the price being different so I thought it would be helpful to explain why. If you stay for 1 night it’s $350 but the longer you stay the cheaper it gets. If you stay for 1 week it’s about $260 a night. Personally I think that is a bargain for what you get. You don’t just get the camping, you get free use of the pools, including a thermal pool, free power and water on every pitch, as well as a restaurant on site for convenience. The location is great too. I would highly recommend a visit here if you’re looking to chill for a bit. We will definitely come back when we are in the area.

We were in Roca Azul past weekend. My Partner and I really love this place. It has two pools, on with natural warm water and the other for a perfect hot day. We really loved the connection with the lake. The manager and the owner are really good people. Definitely a really nice place to stay with an RV. We share some pictures taken with our drone.

The Pool and bathrooms were not clean, most of them even discusting. The price is now 350 Pesos per night, even though the old price list in front of the reception says it's 300 Pesos. When we mentioned that, they showed us the new price list behind the reception. Too expensive for this poorly maintained campsite.

It is a really great camping site where you can stand in peace. You have water and electricity and the possibility to jump in the pool, shower, wash clothes and play various games (football, volleyball, billiards).
The team is very friendly and helpful. What is also great is that there is good internet and you can work relaxed.
Shopping facilities are not far away and you can go out and come back.
In addition, there are some permanent campers here who come either from Canada or the USA or from the next larger city Guadeleraja. Everyone is very relaxed here :-)
Current prices:
350 one night
1800 pesos 1 week
6500 pesos 1 month

This place is very nice. It is located directly on Lake Chapala, the complex is very well maintained and has a lot to offer. In addition to tennis, basketball, there is a thermal pool and a large pool, as well as large football fields. Optimal for children, a safe parking space for a longer stay, the green spaces and the quiet at night are wonderful. Dogs are allowed. We were here 3 weeks.

Report Check-In

Loved our time here! True respite right on the lake! It got chilly at night and we slept amazingly with the sounds of the water echoing off the lake. Has tons of amenities and cute villages to visit everyday. Thermal pool was great, huge pool to sun at, eucalyptus sauna on weekends, tennis courts, soccer fields, and more. It’s awesome and affordable!

Report Check-In

Nice place, but it needs some maintenance since the place is old, prices rose a lot in less than a year and it became the most expensive option in the region, many tents and people on weekends, which seems dangerous to me in the time of pandemic.

Report Check-In

beautiful RV park, Teo provided a free escort from nogales Arizona to the park. all we had to do was spend two months at his park for payment. well worth it. We love the little town. we love the park, beautiful swimming pool, a beautiful place to spend the winter.

Report Check-In

This park is wonderful. The 1st thing you notice is the 3 guarded gates to get to the club. The neighborhood is very well protected and you feel safe on day 1. We arrived at night and had the puck of 5 sites. We plugged in and went to bed. The next day Teo meet us and showed me about 10 more sites to choose, he was very professional and helped us feel we picked the right place to be for a month. The green space is well maintained and massive. The pools were very nice and super clean. Each site has full hook up and even fits my 42 ft Jayco. The second day we went to Costco and Home Depot. 45 min drive. All in all it’s a great park to stay and explore. Ps laundry is free So tomorrow is laundry day.

Report Check-In

We stopped here for one night and ended up staying for a week. At first I was skeptical due to some negative comments on social media. These negative comments are not all accurate. This is very large facility with cold and warm pools. Hot water showers and nice grounds to walk around. It is very quiet at night and safe. The facility was at its prime in the 80s and then deteriorated but the last few years they have been investing to bring it back. The toilets and showers is next to be updated; they know about it. It is a good location to use as a base to explore Guadalajara or Chapala by bus. It is a 30 min walk to the village of Jocotepec bus terminal. The village also has all the necessary amenities and is safe to enjoy.

Report Check-In

What a great place to hang out for a week! Pricing is 300 pesos per night, or 1400 for a week. The 5th-7th night is 1400 total. Hot showers, pools, free laundry, sewer, non-potable water, electricity, tennis. Walk to town in 30 min. The town plaza really comes alive after dark with lots of street vendors for cheap eats. Bus from town to Chapala is 15 pesos per person one-way. To Guadalajara is 33 pesos, takes about 2 hours.

Report Check-In

300 peso per night. Full hook ups. Mostly long term rvs. A bit of a weird dynamic with the long term campers. We showed up on a Saturday and there were loads of tents next to the soccer field with families playing. Wifi is really good. 2 pools and lots of area for kids to play. Pretty quite considering how many people are around.
Bathroom and shower are kinda gross, not sure if they ever get cleaned but it all works.

We have stayed here multiple times in Winter over the years on our way further south. Quiet, comfortable, friendly. I have a question for those who have been here in Summer: Is it quiet then, too, or crowded and noisy? Thanks, Steve.

Report Check-In

It´s such a nice place:
Water (good pressure)
Sewer (at all sites)
30 AMPS (They told me will put 50 AMPS soon
WiFi ( The best I have experienced in Mexico 20 MG Fiber Optic)
Installations (Not bad, they are working in painting and details)
Nearby: Medical Services, Tianguis; street market, Convient store, etc.
40 minutes away from Guadalajara
30 mintues away from Ajijic
Weather is really good not too humind and no too hot.

Report Check-In

Good place but I do not recommend it, there is a man who says he is a monk or something, walks naked and changes his outfit in a place exposed to all, very unpleasant and not good for family or children, the managers seem not to care.

Report Check-In

As described; we stayed 2 nights; got very busy with bus loads of young people during the Eastern holiday..so we had the „benefit“ of a Mexican life band during the day&night..but it wasn’t so bad/loud; the nearby water from the lake looks not very good for swimming so we had no experience with that

Report Check-In

Great location in a retirement community at Lake Chapala. Nice waterfront walkway with lighthouse, lots of amenities (thermal pool, billiards, onsite restaurant, playground, soccer field, good WiFi). We paid 300 pesos per night for 2 people. It gets crowded with tent campers on weekends so I'd avoid checking in on Saturday or on a holiday. Showers and toilets are rundown and could use upkeep.

We were disappointed about this place. it was very run down. Toilets were dirty, broken or even missing. Showers were cold. We only stayed for one night (dry camping) and they charged us 300 pesos. We've stayed at way more beaitiful places for less money in Mexico. At least it was quiet at night. In our opinion it's not worth the money if you don't need to hook-up.

Report Check-In

This place is truly amazing! Super quiet and very natural surroundings. Amazing Concierge and services for everything you require. Restaurant and food items for purchase. Water is super good and very soft! Electrical power is 30A and works very well. Very close to the medium sized village of Jocotepec and close to all of the Great Lake Chapala communities and only a 30 minute drive to Guadalajara with all major stores like Costco and Home Depot. I have nothing but good to say of this beautiful park and it’s amenities and services! Try it and you will be so happy you came here!

Report Check-In

finally a great RV park with great WIFI
huge sites
great people
and only 4500 mexican pesos per month

Report Check-In

It is what it is. For a Mexican RV Park, it is a great deal and a very nice place. For sure a 4 star for Mexican standards. It would not get that much up north, but then again, most RV parks in Mexico fall below the U.S. standards, so expect something with Mexican standards. Other than that, you get tennis, volleyball., swimming, menthol steam room, thermal heated pool and a beautiful view of the lake in a quiet area of town. Most of the time it is quiet, but on weekends, holdiays and sometimes when a large group visits, it may get loud and the park does its best tring to keep everything under control, including quiet time at night. Don't pass this up. You will not be in Kansas anymore. And you will not be in Ajijic or Chapala either. Which is where all the action is. There is a lot of traffic and so many English speaking foreigners that you would think you were in the U.S. Everything is overpriced and busy. Jocotepec is much more economical and does not have the traffic or the crowds. It is up to your personal taste.

I enjoye the stay a lot, it has many green areas and lots of trees. The water pressure is great and it ahas 30 amp.
The view of chapala lake is breathtaking, and the thermal water pool is wonderfull to enjoy.
Some of the buildings seem to need a little maintenante but the 2 months we stay we saw people working on them all the time, so im guessing when we came back we will be up to some good news.
The price is good because you get to use the facilities, the bathrooms near the camping area are ok.. but the ones by the pool are recently renovated.
This seems to be a huge sport´s club, from decades ago and it seems like they are doing a great job on bringing it back as a country club and rv park. The sites are really big, We had somr trouble to get in because of the height of my rig, but they trim some trees and we got the place we wanted with the best view.
Happy to visit back for another two months .

Report Check-In

This place is well described so I’ll try to keep it brief. Yes, it is borderline creepy as the playgrounds are falling apart etc.. but our kids had an absolute blast. They loved the playground, and thermal pool (lukewarm). We had lovely Canadian neighbors who took the kids to see the cows and sheep by the lake. The town of Jocotepec nearby was really neat and we highly recommend going their malecon.

Very huge rv park, We couldn't find the 2nd set of showers that was suppose to have hot water. Something to keep in mind is the laundry facilities are for a week or more camping. They did accommodate us, however keep in mind. Great water pressure through out the park. For us it was a great layover for our next leg of the trip.

Report Check-In

This is a strange place, for the lack of better words.
First be aware mid November driving in a dusk there are miles of bug clouds you cannot escape.
Paid 300 pesos for our truck camper for the night.
The grounds are beautiful, there is 1 poorly maintained bathroom in the RV area. There are 2 pools and a second very large bathroom building next to the large pool. However found out next morning that there is currently no water going into the bathroom building, so no shower.
The gate out to the lighthouse was locked.
An odd huge place......

Nice place to stay. 2 swimming pools, playgrounds, sport groundd. Beautiful view on the lake. Free Laundromat.
A good place around Chapala lake.

Bit of a tight fit for Class A's: it seems most Mx RV parks don't prune trees back enough Great concierge, very helpful, perfect English. Wifi's good in campsite.

A very nice campground. Full 30 amp sites with water and sewer. WiFi is spotty but good. Spots with both sun and shade. Two swimming pools, one huge pool that's cool, and one smaller pool that's warm. Tennis courts, volleyball courts and soccer fields. Very comfortable.

Report Check-In

At the first glance this place looks weird but it turns out to be really nice! The pool as well as the areas are clean. Quiet, all accommodations (except kitchen).
Price is 250 pesos per night for a van and 300 pesos for camper, non negociable. Cheaper for a week.

Like described. But we get soon: "take your dog on a leash!".

Roca Azul is an amazing place full of nature and helpful people. It is very close to Chapala and it has all the services to have a wonderful rest. An excellent place to enjoy relaxation and family. The lake views are very nice, especially at sunrise. The thermal pools are really nice too. Excellent choice for quality Vs price.

Report Check-In

lots of camping and RV sites. Free wifi. Free laundry. Free showers - first day was nice and hot but next 2 days were cold. Paid 75MXN per person per night. Had a good couple of days stay with our dog. there are two pools, a tennis court, soccer fields and basketball courts. Restaurant is open everyday except Monday. The man Emanuel speaks good English. Watching sunrise over the lake by the lighthouse is a must.

Report Check-In

RV Park with lot of Snow-Birds. Perhaps 20 years ago this was a nice place… but now it seams that they take only money and do nothing for infrastructure. Restrooms are ok an showers are by the hot pools. WIFI is slow and unstable.

Report Check-In

Nice place. $300 pesos a night. Very friendly neighbors. Bathrooms are clean but I did not see showers. Restaurant was closed.

A great place! Plenty room for playing with the kids. Two pools, a playground and several fields for tennis, basketball and soccer. Grassy und shady spots with full hook up. Fast wifi, ask for the codes at the reception. A lot of workers who repairs and clean up the things. Bring enough food and drinks and you will have a relaxing time. Also good for big rigs. 300pesos for two adults and two kids.

What a great place! Plenty of room for relaxing and playing with the kids. Two pools, a playground, soccer field, basketball field etc. Great view over the lake, no access. Shady and grassy spots with full hook up, good wifi. A lot of workers were repair and cleaning up all the things. 300pesos per night for two adults and two kids. Bring enough food and drinks, there was nothing to buy. a very relaxing time. no problems for big rigs.

Report Check-In

Nice little place but, as with many we've seen, everything is right on the verge of being run down. A large event going on when we were there but still pretty quiet. The staff handed out wifi codes that don't work- turns out they were giving them out to all the kids here playing soccer so the long term residents- all who are super friendly- changed them so we got the right codes and got right on. Over all just fine for a few nights

Report Check-In

Great place. Very quiet during the week, busier during weekends. Warm showers, electricity, wi-fi. We payed 250 pesos for a small RV. There is a heated thermal pool and an unheated larger one. Take a spot in the back, near the playground, where there's a lot of shade and a beautiful view of the lake.

Report Check-In

$300 pesos per night. 30 amp service water and sewer. Links to have seen better times but it is winter. Campground is nice and shaded. There was a big rig caravan with 25 rigs when we were here.

ROUGH

The electricity is totally unpredictable, and because the water is powered by an electrical pump, when the electricity goes off (often), the water goes off as well. The electricity surged and fried my plasma tv....Note to self: Get a surge protector for the RV.....The RV park is down a looooong bumpy road. There is a massive bug problem. Although they have a gated access, this didnt stop one of the long term dwelling RV residents from getting killed in his RV on the property...Also- somehow the people who run this place are getting the reviews they dont like removed from iOverlander.

Report Check-In

yes this place was difficult to locate.our GPS took us to a closed entrance but finally went back to main gate and then went straight on road...saw a little motor home post..and knew we were on the right path..charged us 250 pesos for our truck/pop up camper...I thought the large pool was thermal water but it was very cold...many rv sites..not crowded..the grounds are beautiful..nice stay

Huge campground with multiple pools, basketball field, soccer field, etc. The showers are clean and the spots are under big trees in the shade. WiFi works good. Free laundry! M$250.

Report Check-In

Nice and big campground - RV Park. Pool, showers, soccer field, restaurant. 250 pesos per vehicle. Full hook-ups. About an hour from Guadalajara and a little isolated. Not easy to find. Better to arrive during the day as gate is closed later in the evening.

Huge Place, 5 other permanent Campers here. laundromat included, flush toilets, several showers. We Ppaid MXN 250 per Night. Many ants on the Grass. Very clean, well maintained....basically what the others said before. Wifi coverage not so Good at some spots. Friendly english speaking staff

Report Check-In

Like a lot of things in Mexico, this place is aged but very well taken care of. Very comfortable place to stay.

Report Check-In

Pricey. $300 per night. $1400 if you stay a week. $4500 if you stay a month. Very large compound, everything is a 'walk' away. Getting old and very worn looking. Otherwise quite nice. Hot shower. Not plural, one hot shower for everyone.

Report Check-In

We came to Roca Azul in 2012, and liked it so much that we decided to stay full-time. We made it our Mexico home. At $4,500 pesos a month, $300 USD, including utilities and wi-fi, you will find it hard to find anything close anywhere in Mexico. Roca is not for everyone. It is laid back, with not much going on, and the town of Joco is about the same. Weekends tend to get busy with the Mexican crowd, but not so much that it is out of control.
If you are looking for an activity based park, this is not the one. But, all that touristy stuff is only a few miles to the East in Ajijic and Chapala. Lot's of English speaking people with lots to do. Buses are easy to use and a direct bus route is about 2 miles from the park.
Roca has everything you need to relax and enjoy a lakeside retreat. Two swimming pools, one of them is heated, eucalyptus steam rooms, showers, tennis, volleyball and basketball, nature and fresh air, is all here.
Everything you can find in a major U.S. city can be found in Guadalajara, only 40 minutes north of Roca. And Jocotepec is big enough that you can get all basic needs, but small enough to enjoy a real Mexican pueblo.
Great place for long or short term. Weather is always great.

Just a beautiful place. I can just imagine what it looked like 30 years ago. Lot's of place. Town is about 25 minutes away, if you need anything, but just bring it ahead of time. Pool was open. The cafe/restaurant was closed, but looked amazing. Had a picnic with new found friends. 300 pesos, I found was a little steep, but it was a restful night.

Report Check-In

This place is awesome!!! Paid 300. With that you get access to 2 pools, showers, giant grass fields tons of shade and blazing fast wifi. Right now I am in my tent under a canopy of trees on wifi. It's crazy.

Report Check-In

This place is huge and fantastic! It has a lot of long term residences from mostly the US and Canada, but also plenty of space for those passing through or weekending from Guadalajara. The spots are well shaded under large trees and every spot has electricity and water (you will need the 125V RV adaptor for the power outlets though). The pools (yes, more than one) are clean as are the washrooms and showers. They have about 5 wifi connections so you just new to choose the one that suits your location best. If you are a sports fanatic, than you may be right at home with the volleyball, beach volleyball, soccer fields, basketball and tennis courts all inside the park walls. A lighthouse is locate closest to the water that you can walk to the top of, and the area around the lighthouse also doubles as a off-leash area. Plenty of playground equipment do kids as well. We payed 250 peso for one night, but the normal rate is 150 peso per person. friday and saturday nights they also have a huge bonfire beside the lighthouse, but be sure to wear pants as they do have a lot of bugs being close to the water. This place was an impressive trailer park, and although the road in is pretty rough, i give it 4 stars in my books.

Report Check-In

We stayed here a week ago - just for one night but found it very comfortable albeit very quiet. We're traveling off season right now, but we will definitely go back in a few months to see it in it's glory! The manager was great, everything was clean and the few full time residents there, were very friendly!

Report Check-In

PROS: right on the lake and there is a lighthouse you can climb, water hookups – CONS: seriously creepy campground that is part of a sports club that is part of a housing development. What? Also, bathrooms were unusable, electric was super sketchy (looked like something out of a cautionary tale about electrocuting yourself), free wifi was promised but never worked at our campsite, empty playground with giant clown head – 300 pesos/night, we stayed two and paid for one

Report Check-In

This is a huge park with a pool, soccer fields and lots of RV spots and grass. There is internet inside the restaurant area and electricity at most of the camping sites. Wifi in the restaurant.

Report Check-In

The campground is located in a large sports resort with views of the lake (no access to the lake). Very large (but cold in winter) pool and also a thermal pool which you can use to swim in winter time. Electricity / water / waste water at site. The entire resort - including the bathrooms - was already a bit old, but fairly well maintained. Washers and dryers included in the price.

The campground is mainly for long-term campers, which is evident from the pricing structure: 250 pesos / night, 1,200 pesos / week, 4,000 pesos / month, 20,000 pesos / half. Attractive prices for RV Storage: 600 pesos / month, 3,200 pesos / half-year, 6,000 pesos / year.
