A little visited part of Badlands NP. Great views. Decent road up to this place. You can continue a little further, but you will need high clearance.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Not sure why someone said it’s closed. It’s wide open, no signs or any reason to think that.
Report Check-InBeautiful views and quiet evening. Parked in the pullout and had a couple other people in and out as well as a car camper who pulled farther up the road but quiet and plenty of space. Fire ants made a couple ant hills by the overlook but not a problem to avoid.
Report Check-InDang nice place. Washboard road up to the first turnout wasn't too terrible. Billion dollar views easily make it worth the trek.
Report Check-InThat road is bloody awful! But the spit makes up for it. continue on the main gravel road til you climb the incline, then take the left and continue til the end for the best spot. Any vehicle will make it in the dry as mentioned before. Plenty of space.
Report Check-InAny vehicle (95' 2wd Dodge van) in good weather can make it to the first destination before the sign. Second the awful washboard road but just go slow in some spots and you're fine. Lastly, this is the most spectacular camp spot we've come across so far 4000 miles into our trip.
Report Check-Indrove up to check it out and have some lunch... beautiful spot would love to have been here for.the night... road in has the worst washboard I've ever encountered and I live in a state with a lot of dirt roads was 2 inches deep and van rattling
Report Check-InGreat spot to overnight. Wide open views of Badlands. Relatively flat pull off. Have 2 bars of AT&T.
Report Check-InOnly 2 others here. Bit windy but nothing to fear (during our night) beautiful views, saw some bucks out in the distance, one of the best ioverlander spots I’ve had.
Very clean! Please keep it that way. We stayed before the high clearance road - was just a bit too risky for our promaster 2500.
No fires.
Note for mountain bikes. Heavy thorns on road - popped our tires. @roam4wild
The spot listed is a lookout and quite busy. We found a nice pull-out about a mile and a half before you get to the lookout. When you see a small dirt road to the left follow that to a beautiful overlook spot that is quite private.
Report Check-InAmazing camp spot, cliffside, with a view over a valley, and Custer State Park / Blackhills...The road is a bit rough, but [at the time I'm writing this, May 2020] easily handled by a car [in dry conditions], but the road is not paved... saw a rattlesnake on the drive in!
Report Check-InA little visited part of Badlands NP. Great views. Decent road up to this place. You can continue a little further, but for that you need high clearance.
