Benin (Kétou) Border Crossing | Customs and Immigration

Going west. Avoid this border if you're planning to obtain the 8 day border visa! They still have no facilities to issue the border visa here. We had to wait 7 hours at the border post, then they took our passports away and sent them to Cotonou, where we had to go to the immigration office and obtain a 30 day visa for FCFA33k, which took cost us another 4 hours with lengthy discussions. And that was a lucky one. Normal processing time is 3 days!
Going east or if you're getting the evisa for Benin, anyway, you may be fine as soon as Nigeria opens its land borders again.

Without visa not possible to cross. They send us back to Cotonou where it seems also impossible to get at the moment.

I suggest avoiding this border when entering Benin. The guys had no idea what they were doing, they almost stamped my passport with the exit stamp. They had no clue about visa on arrival and they sent me to Cotonou, where I got a normal visa for 70EUR and lost two days. Of course, no hopes of getting the new 8 day 15EUR on arrival tourist visa.

Easy border. Since we didn't need to stamp our carnet when entering Benin, no one wanted to see any documents at customs in Ketou. Stamped passports without problems.

There is no customs YET at this border. So you need to go to Ketou (14km) to get your carnet stamped. They do want to build a customs here but when this will happen, is not certain.

Very relaxed border crossing with Nigeria. Customs & immigration stamps at the same place. Their is also Benin customs at Ketou but they stamped our Carnet at the border
