Report Check-In

This is permanently closed. We came here 5 years ago and it was great, now it’s eerie empty ruins of an old building with no roof. Bizarre.

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 2 nights, right on the beach. Big parking spot for camping with large palapa for use. Was once a busy hostel but clearly a lot quieter now so we were made to feel very welcome. There was 3 of us so we paid USD 20
for a double room with private bathroom and 2 of us camping in the roof tent with use of facilities (cold shower and toilet). They usually charge 5pp to camp. Bar on the beach with beers also.

Report Check-In

Asked the guys, if it would be okay and safe to stay on the beach, so they offered to stay in their parkibg lot, use a palapa for ten dollars. after i asked for baños and shower, the guy wanted 5 more, but that seemed unreasinable. so 10 for the night and bathroom, we are 4 persons.
the hostel is nice, the beach beautiful, but you can feel the lack of tourists.

Report Check-In

Nobody here now, local guys should take care the place but they just drink beer all day complaining "we don't have food"
Sunset at the beach is stunning

Report Check-In

The road is paved all the way from Rivas that is great when you don't have a good car. I pay 5$ per night for camping in my van on the parking lot, use their showers, toilet, electricity and wifi. They don't have a kitchen. I wash my dishes in the bathroom. The restaurant is ridiculously expensive with nothing in the menu under 150 cordobas. You can go to the pulperia closeby and cook yourself. Nice staff and great sunset on the beach. Very loud at night because of all the bars around.

Report Check-In

We stayed here in the shaded parking lot for 1 night, was going to stay longer but didn't love the spot so we moved to Guasacate beach. $5 if you want to just park and an extra $5 if you want to use the shower and baño. Very rustic. Too much noise for us with hostel guests in and out all night on their motorbikes parking right next to us. As well as restaurant delivery trucks. Nowhere to wash dishes etc. Free yoga was good tho

Report Check-In

Stayed next to the Hostel at their shaded parkinglot for 10 USD. We could use electricity and take part at the free yoga lessons (7am every morning). Showers are salty, toilets ok and Wifi works well. The place is direct at the beach. Surfbeach is in Walking Distance (20 min.)

Report Check-In

We came back to gigante and stayed here 3 nights. The winds were strong during our stay making it a bit dusty. We paid $10 usd per day for two ppl and a dog. The Internet worked great in the restaurant /lounge area. The bathrooms are a little ruff, but cleaned regularly. Salty showers. The restaurant is not cheap, but we had the tacos on taco Tuesday at 50 cordoba a taco. The fish and chicken tacos were very good and filling. On Monday nights next door the private surf camp has an open to the public burger night. Burgers are good! Every gringo in town shows up.

Places created & run by overlanders are beyond wifi & how clean are the toilets. However this place fails from all aspects. Stinky & horribly smelly toilets, slow wifi (only works in the restaurant), average food which is insanely expensive (8 usd for a burger, 10 usd for a pizza etc), not very happy stuff and above all a small parking lot. For instance, no facilities for washing dishes. This is all a former overlander has to offer? Still 5 usd pp. Playa Gigante is amazing with stunning sunsets but better find another place to stay.

We both got the Nica for breakfast and it was delicious.
We have local friends so did not stay the night here, but John is a good dude. Known him a long time.

Report Check-In

They offer free yoga classes at 7:30 am everyday + Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9am (for a hour).

John the owner rode a bike around Asia for 4 years. He accommodates overlanders well given that is a busy hostel. Road is now paved all the way. 45 minute walk to colorados to surf or 10 to Amarillo. Cool community with loads of friendly folks. Could have broken down and parked forever. Beware of Pika Pika when in season, itchiness is like fire ants. Can't speak highly enough of the staff. Great place, great people and booze cruise on a catamaran with cliff jumping options most Saturdays. 25pp. Do it.

verry nice place, a few meters from the Oceaan
great kitchen

Super nice place just a few steps away from a great beach. The hostel itself is really nice and they have a big terrace looking to the beach. We stayed here for one night in there parking lot and where allowed to use their bathrooms and showers as well as the Wi-Fi. When we asked about the price the guy at the reception said that it is fine for one night, so we could stay for free. They also have great happy hour deals in the evening and some really nice food!

Camping at the parking lot behind the hostel. Nice restaurant and clean showers.

Report Check-In

Very friendly nice stuff. very good place. payed 6USD the night for 2 people.

Report Check-In

Parking lot is now muddy and has tools all over for expanding restaurant. Must park across street. No electrical, running water was broken with no length of time scheduled to fix. Beach is beautiful though. Will be looking for another place for tonight. $5 per person even with less facilities.

Report Check-In

Great location right on the beach, lively atmosphere with music, restaurant and bar. We paid $5 pp with electric, they have started to extent the restaurant area into the parking lot and this will reduce the area available for camping. Hotel Brio has plenty of room 10 min walk from the beach and has a pool.

Report Check-In

$5 pp great location on the beach, decent facilities

$6us/p with electric hookup. Parking right next to beach. Menu was decent, they must have improved. Really nice beach to chill at for a few days.

Report Check-In

There is wifi here now and its good. Nice place although camping is just in the parking lot. Great chill area. We paid $5 per person per night.

Camped in lot next to Camino Hostel – PROS: steps away from the beach, super friendly staff, clean bathrooms and showers, free coffee, fast free wifi, electric available – CONS: menu at restaurant is very limited, a pig may walk through your campsite multiple times a day causing your dog(s) to freak out each and every time- 5 USD/person/night
