Description

MODERATOR NOTE: No overnight camping allowed, please respect the wishes of the locals.

Two free parking lots. Here and North Shore Aquatic Complex. Labeled as municipal parking lots. right by the water, wonderful sunraises. Stayed one night in a short skoolie. saw another small RV. Near a small and vibrant community, lot is used by locals. Would not stay longer than a day to respect the vibe. Bathrooms scattered on the beach. short walk to city center. Anything over 20' would probably stand out too much. lovely city. parking lot empty at night. @theBlastoffs

Closed. Not nice, but it happens. Oh well. What can you do?

Report Check-In

Tested it after my last check in and got the knock this morning at 0630. Seems this spot is no longer good. The streets around the park are the next best thing then move into the lot in the morning.

Report Check-In

Was a great spot but a resident complained and everyone got the knock last night. One of those "technically you can park here if you're not sleeping" scenarios. I'll be letting it cool off for a bit (there's a big boat race here and the super bowl in Tampa coming up) before trying again. Resident complaint came when the lots were more full than they'd been in a while including a full length skoolie. Most folks here are vans or smaller. Cops took plate numbers and said if they catch you sleeping in the city limits they'll give a ticket, but seemed to just be following up on the complaint.

Report Check-In

Came here earlier in the evening to scope it out and came back to settle in just after 11. As I was using the restroom in the south lot, a truck was going around honking and closing the gates. She closed the gates to the north lot and everything in the south lot except for a row of parking spaces where you could drive through it. I ended up moving to the street just south of the lot and parked on it, just before the bend. No other problems, and woke up to see the sunrise. By 630, those gates we're back unlocked.

Not sure if she would force you out if you were already settled on, or let you be "stuck" all night, but the road worked fine, and the middle lame in the south lot would work with in and out access as well.

Report Check-In

I live in this community and paddleboard from the north parking lot of the aquatic center. Some mornings I have seen people car-camping in the north parking lot of aquatic center. I have not seen any active law enforcement. As others have stated, the place has a busy vibe, with lots of runners and cyclists nearby on waterfront sidewalk.

Clearly says no parking after 11:00pm

Clairement indiqué
De ne pas stationner après 23:00 :(

Alors pas de dodo ici

Report Check-In

Spent the night in the aquatic center parking lot; the other municipal parking lot is extremely bright and exposed, with signs posted indicating park closure at 11p and a locking gate at the entrance. No obvious signage in the aquatic center lot, and a little less exposed. No problems parking, and no disturbances, but this is a super active lot with folks coming and going for activities, swim meets, etc. and it was difficult to be discreet. Beach bathrooms were locked and no real place to use the restroom. Noticed some folks sleeping in the botanical gardens, but it wasn't a problem. Tough spot for truck camping, might be okay for a night or two of you've got a small RV, van conversion, or skoolie and can take care of food, bathroom, etc inside your vehicle, but expect to draw attention. Too tough for us in a truck to come back, though as the other commenter said, the views are unbeatable: you're right on the beach, and the sunrise was spectacular.
