Leaving Chile, smooth process. Chilean side is dirt road, but doable for any type of rig. Road turns into asphalt on the border with Argentina. Beautiful views on both sides.
Report Check-InChile -> Argentina. There was some reluctance to let us through because we were in a Big Rig (11T truck). However, after some discussions, we were allowed to cross (no issue Argentinian side). Curious check inside.
Report Check-InVery efficient process, took our garlic and onions but left our opened milk and cheeses in the fridge. We were coming into Chile
Report Check-InEntering Chile.
Easy and fast process. The guy who searched the van was very friendly. Just opened a few cabinet and the fridge but not thorough at all.
Extremely bad experience with one specific Chilean border control. He was already angry when approaching the car to check and found it strange we did not speak Spanish well when visiting Chili! When he found an avocado that we put in the top case he got extremely angry and overturned everything in the car. We had to open roof tent, every drawer, every cabinet, looked under the hood etc. No spot untouched. He yelled and tried to intimidate.
Of course we where at fault with the avocado but his rage was beyond every proportion.
His chef warned us for bringing in the avocado and promised to “cut our throats” when it would happen again.
Very easy and fast entrance into Chile, friendly agents no fuzz, opened the pannier and top case, didn’t really look, closed up and off we went, no more than 15’, just how we like it!
Report Check-InCan confirm, still fast and efficient. Entering Chile, they didn’t make us remove our panniers (motorcycle) just had a very quick look inside them all.
