Superb place where you can rest and gain strength for the rest of your trip, the hosts are of unparalleled kindness, the site is also a good base for visiting the surroundings, in short an unmissable place if you are in Atar , Thanks a lot :)

That’s not the spirit…

Biking by I stop here and got disappointed by the attitude of the owner toward they workers and the tourist,
Atar is a beautiful place with beautiful people, I believe you can find an other campsite to stay,

Except for that the place is good looking, clean

There is no access to the kitchen and when I asked the owner she agreed that I used it,
Then come back 30’ later and get mad at Saïdou for letting me in..

This campground is all about taking a lot of money out of the pockets of foreign guests with as little effort as possible.
13.00 euros per day for a parking space in the dirt.

Showers (although we were the only guests and the sun was shining) were only tepid, water quantity super low
Filling up with fresh water NOT included in the price (100l = 100 MRU)
WLAN was not offered or mentioned.
Instead, we were immediately told that we "actually" had to pay even more than the already exorbitant price (600 MRU) because we were so big.
With respect: we are very long, but no wider than other big rigs. And since vehicles on campgrounds usually park next to each other rather than in front of each other, the length doesn't matter.
And then, in a rather lousy way, they try to make it difficult for guests to fill up with water by claiming that there is no drinking water at the moment and that the water from the tap is well water. Our water test showed that it was pure drinking water, so it's just a deterrent.
When we asked where we could buy certain things, we were told to show a photo of what we were looking for and ask around.

Guys, a campground in a remote country is there for overlanders to get water, do laundry, take a long shower, run errands and much more.
Offering all this badly, or not offering it at all, is simply anti-social and has absolutely nothing to do with service orientation or even cordiality.
Service desert BAB Sahara. You don't need it. And by far the most expensive campsite in Mauritania without the corresponding services

This is already the third time for me at Bab Sahara and I received a hospitable welcome again. It is the most famous campsite in Mauritania and owner Just Buma is world famous in the region.
You can camp there with plenty of shade and you can also rent a room with a shower and air conditioning.
The food is also more than excellent. Just and Leonie also help the local population, just like the Holland Africa Tour, which was once again represented. Together we bought things for the village of Ain Safra (there is also an inn there) where we support a water project.

300 for a bed in a shared tent with mosquito net, 300 for dinner, 60 for coffee. Nice, relaxing open place with chickens, ducks, and a car. Owner is looking to sell, he seems a bit fed up of answering the same questions for a quarter of a century, which is fair enough. Would recommend.

We came here and were welcomed by the night guard, but no one else was around. Since it is the off-season, it looked a little abandoned and we found 600 just for camping a bit too much. Went to the other place Imini and were very warmly welcomed by the owner, who cooked us some tea and showed us the place.

very nice campground with good food and nice staff. we came with our 2wd camper. from here we went into the desert with 4x4 and private chauffeur hire. meanwhile Just helped us out with repair of the 5th gear and attachment of a lose gas bottle, as we have a fixed LPG tank, which can not be filled in Mauritania or Morocco.

Justus was also happy to help with the repair of our motorbike and provided valuable assistance. The camp has character. One of the few camps that still exude the charm of adventure and discovery. The food tastes delicious, the prices are fair. For us, a good place with good people.

Had a great time resting here for a few days after some long rides in the desert. It's a bit out of town but not too far to walk.

We rented the hut with bathroom. It was clean and comfortable.

There are quite a few accomodation options: huts, camping, a caravan, and a khiama.

We ate dinner here 3 nights and had breakfast twice. The meals are a bit more pricey than other places in Mauritania but dinner in particular was very good. The complete dinner is 3 three courses, soup or salad, the main and dessert. The salads have fresh rocket, herbs and tomatoes from their garden.

Breakfast wasn't great value: coffee, bread, butter, jam and a small egg omelette or a hard boiled egg for 200.

They have laundry service (160UM a load)

The owner Just and his partner Leonie were very kind and helpful. The both speak a few languages, French, English, Dutch and German (possibly more) The two guys they have on staff, Mohammed and Saido are both super friendly and welcoming.

There are a few common areas with shade and some protection from the wind.

We weren't able to connect to the wifi so if you need to use it, load up on data.

Nice place with a tranquil vibe. Pitches all in sand. But that is why you choose for Mauritania.
Owner heard over the years to much stories from to much overlanders. So not to enthusiastic anymore.
Toilet with paper, hot shower, drinking water and free wifi. What do you need more?
We paid 500 for 2 and 4x4.

it's a nice place for stay a couple of nights. the facilities are very clean. they have drinking water and wifi for free. not very fast, but for free.
Just is very, very helpful. he can organise everything and he knows everybody. he helped us a lot. the staff is very friendly as well.
it's a nice, clean and save place.
not far away from the market. some smaller shops around to get a fresh bread.

Lovely place, nice toilets and showers. Good surroundings. WiFi is slow/doesn’t work.

However the ironically named Justus is an extremely unpleasant man who just attempts to make money at every opportunity. Tried to say that a standard 4x4 is considered a truck and tried to charge a ‘discounted’ rate of 500 ouguiya despite us having paid 250 some days before.
Charged me 200 ouguiya to use electricity for a Hoover despite the rate being 60. Stopped me from using the hoover before I was finished as it was siesta time and he wanted some peace and quite (in an otherwise empty campsite). He finds any reason to be annoyed including using water to fill up bottles or tanks (one of the reasons we stay at campsites in the first place)
Nor is he particularly helpful with information about the surroundings, says he doesn’t have time to talk to everyone and explain things.
I wouldn’t stay again even if I was paid to do so.
Apparently there’s another campsite called Imini in atar which is where I’d try to stay next time. Failing that it’s probably worth getting arrested and spending the night in prison. Better than staying at bab Sahara.

Nice place but the owner Just (like many hotel owners) wants to make money. Be aware that he will charge you a fee, extra 2000 MRO (5€) for making a call to a taxi and also expect that this taxi will overcharge you too.

Price for putting your tent, camping car or sleep in their big tent with beds is 2500 MRO per person. Small cabin/house is 6000 MRO. Some nicer cabins are 10.000 MRO.

There are better and cheaper places in town to eat. Like Khadijatou restaurant, one block from the main Roundabout, next to De Coin restaurant.

Campground just outside of town. 2500 UM for me and my van. Free drinking water, WiFi, hot showers. OK place for a couple of nights. Owner was absent during my stay, not sure how that influenced my impression. Just me and a German couple here at the moment.

Comfortable enough place for a night's stay but we had some issues with the owner, Just. He helped us organize to ride the iron ore train from Choum to Nouadhibou. Told us that it would be 7000 each for putting the bikes on the train and spoke with Chef du Gare to alert him to us coming. The following day when the Chef was trying to extort more and telling us we would have to ride on top of ore rather than in the passenger train, we called Just for help. He got exasperated and told us to work it out on our own. Left us stranded when we needed a local's help.

One of the few real campsites on our transafrican trip, everything we needed (we stayed for 3 weeks): hot showers, sink to wash dishes, drinking water, shade, fridge, occasional dinners with the owner, Justus, and his staff, nice area under trees to sit/lie around in the heat of the day, book exchange, occasional use of the water reservoir as a pool for refreshment. Justus helped us with a number of mechanical issues on our Land Rover, found us some welder, helped with getting spare parts through the customs in Nouakchott and from there to Atar etc. Very quiet at night. We paid 2000 x 2 O per night plus 500 O per day for the wifi.
