Something not right?

Description

Coming from Tulum, turn right just before the white bride and then go straight to the end of the road (it seems to be a private road but it's not!). There is free parking at the end.

If coming from the North, don't follow Maps.me or Google maps, you need to pass the first retorno and take the bridge, or pass under the bridge and take the next retorno.

The beach is beautiful, a bit crowded (there is a space on the right side reserved for public access, in front of the DIF area) and perfect for snorkeling.

There are no amenities but you can use the showers and the bathrooms of the Bahia Principe Resort (door in the fence on the left of the parking).

we parked here for one night. initially security at the hotel next door said we couldnt park there, then another came along and luckily said it was public access and that they couldnt stop us. they werent at all welcoming and we felt like they did not want us there. when we asked about paying to use the shower and toilet facilities it was a definite no! relatively quiet with some noise from cars and bikes using it to turn. lights from the hotel. security at hotel present but they made it clear they weren't going to be responsible for us! beach close by is a small strip of sand in between resorts with a small cordened off area where you can swim (we presumed so that the resorts can charge for snorkelling boat tours to see the turtles)

We slept here one night we ask the staff if it was ok and told us no problem this is a public access and free. told us to park along the fence as close as posible parking was full. At night we move to the parking lot 4 spaces only but after 8 pm everyone left.

Stayed just one night here. The hotel guards seemed antsy that we were there, but no one disturbed us during the night. In the morning someone from the hotel came to ask us if we were leaving or just arriving. When we said that we were leaving soon, he hung around and asked some questions. Wanted to know where we came from, and made a joke about how "you owe the guard a tip since they were out here all night". Also said that "you white people love to do this type of thing, you don't seem to appreciate fine hotels the same". Everyone was outwardly friendly, but it felt very passive aggressive and they definitely didn't love us being there.

We stayed here for four nights and it's our favorite one in Quintana Roo. We ask the guards if we can use the toilet and shower, no problem at all. The guys of the diving center confirm that this is a public access/parking. We gave them guard who is responsible for the parking just a little tip as we left.

Still as perfect as described. Stayed 3 nights without trying to use their facilities. No questions asked. Free.

Arrived 5:30pm. This is a dead end, and narrow street, and no turn arounds, so no big rigs. It’s popular with the locals and there are only about 10 spots to park, so arrive early or late. There are signs that say parking only for playa publico and playa Adventuras. We asked the security guard at hotel next door and he said this parking was open to the public. We also asked if we could camp here for the night and he said no problem, and offered the showers (rinse only, no soap) and bathrooms at the resort, from 9am to 5pm. My wife needed the bathroom for an emergency (this is Mexico) around 9pm and they said they’d have to call their supervisor. She declined as to not cause any problems as we do have a unit in our van.

Please don’t abuse the kindness of the hotel by using the palapas, chairs or sneaking other resort benefits...they will complain to the police which will only close this for overnights ...try to keep this parking open for overlanders!

We stayed two nights.

Not the prettiest or cleanest (no trash, just washed up seaweed), but free. Beware the sand flies...

Uma das praia mais bonitas que vimos no Caribe Mexicano, lugar agradável, tranquilo e seguro para dormir e estar vários dias. A única coisa que eles fazem quando você entra é marcar a placa do carro, mas não te cobram nada.

We just spent a night there. Very calm, many tourists from the hotel around but nobody after 7pm. Some loud music from the hotel show until 10pm. We kindly asked to use the toilets and the guard said yes. Around 11pm police showed up, somebody called them because they saw a suspicious car in the area, so they came to us, knocked on our door, woke us up and asked a lot of questions. After realizing we were just overnighting there, they explained that even if the access to the beach is public, they don't allow people to drive that road at night because it's in the middle of the hotel's property. Besides there are some jetskies close from the parking lot, the police said if something happened to them, the hotel would blame us. They went back to the hotel manager and he said we could spend they night there. Left early in the morning. We would not recommend staying here to avoid having the police knocking on your door while you sleep.

Beach is good and the place is super safe. The guy from the resort told us that security don't longer let people use shower or toilet. It rained a lot so we didn't check if it was posible to visit during the night. Nice spot for one night though

Report Check-In

Beautiful beach with a lot of people from the resort. No breeze at night so it was difficult to sleep. Safe. I used the facilities from the resort with the kids, no problem. We even got an ice cream ;-)

Easy to find and nice place for one on several nights. We went for a walk in the hotel and asked the price to use the facilities of the hotel for 1 day. By curiosity. They sayed it is 90 $US for 1 day from 9am to 6pm without alcoolic drinks... we laught. The night was quiet enough (the security of the hotel passed a few time next to us) but the access to the toilets was closed until 6.30 am.

First of all it's FREE and this is a rarity on Yukatan/QR. Acces to the shower and toilets, we even filled up our RV tank with water 2 times in 5 days. Very quiet on night.

Little car park just near the sea, perfect for car or van. Quiet night but we don't like the beach, it s too touristic...if you lookin for some nice and quiet beach, go to Sian kaan reserva!!(near Tulum!)

Report Check-In

Still a very nice place! The beach is beautiful, go early to get a palapa. Busy on the weekend. The restrooms are clean.

Report Check-In

Five stars camping for free and for yourself only (at least at night)! You won't find any better free spot on that coast. Far better than the busy dusty tiny road of tulum beaches before the police check point for instance.
An employee told us than not only the parking and the front beach where public but the whole area including the shower and restrooms. So you don't even need to ask as nobody cares.

Report Check-In

Tricky to find but nice place to park on the beach. Not overly private but it is indeed a public access to the beach. 'Big rig' is gray area. Ours would be considered big rig (truck with camping trailer) but we were able to turn around once the parking area cleared out for the day.
We were able to 'visit' the resort and enjoy some meals and the gym. The resort does require it's guests to wear wrist bands (all different colors) and so you should keep one wrist out of plain view when in staffed areas (long sleeve shirt or hand in pocket, etc). You cannot request a towel at the pool without having a card to trade, and it will be suspicious to bring your own... Best to air dry.
You must be smart about how you participate in the resort, should you choose to.

Report Check-In

Not very level, even for our tiny VW Bus. A guy from the resort indeed said it was cool to stay and was interestingly eager for us to do so. Quiet, could get complicated for larger vehicles if people park there for beach access.

Report Check-In

Very good spot as described. Felt VERY safe, as we were kept awake a little bit by they noise of security guards patrolling. Nice guys, had no issues with us staying there. As stated, used some of the resort facilities with no issues!

Report Check-In

Still nice and no one bothers if you camp there.

Report Check-In

Stayed here 3 nights. The first night when we got there two security people came and checked on us and we were allowed to stay and camp, no issues at all. If you are smart you can make use of all of the amenities at the resort. We had our puppy with us. He was allowed at the parking lot but no dogs are allowed at the beach

Report Check-In

We stayed 4 days in front of the DIF, with the tent during all 4 days, and that was great. The people working at both Hotel or DIF let you camp without asking questions and were nice with us. You can use the toilets and the showers of the hotel without problem, and also the sun beds in front of the DIF turtle protected area.
