Description

A dispersed camping area on Harriet Lake. No charge. FREE

There are some sites with picnic tables and fir pit/grills.

Beautiful lake with public boat ramp.

Pit toilet.

Lots of wild blueberries and raspberries in the summer months.

No cell service.

Road in is dirt/gravel, no 4x4 needed but it’s probably about 30-45 minutes from the main road.

Latest Check-Ins

We wanted to stay at His Back, but it was full. Only stayed one night because the flys and mosquitoes were terrible.

This area is just 1.5 miles from the Hogback campground, I stayed in both. This one is much different from Hogback, more like dispersed camping, much larger sites off the road, 8 or 9 in total but not right on the lake like at Hogback. Lots of walking in the area but so far I've not found trails around the lake. It's mid September on a Thursday and it's about 2/3 full. Be aware that the drive to these campgrounds is 25 miles of gravel road, about 35-40 miles from the shore of Lake Superior. The roads are badly washboarded in some areas but overall the gravel roads are better than the asphalt ones!
Update - it was packed over the weekend, people trying to squeeze into our spot Friday evening. I would have left if I'd known it would be this busy but obviously it's a popular area in the fall so be aware.

We're one of the crazy people who bring a class A rv here. It fits in a few spots. There is a turn around, but is is tight. We arrived on a Saturday hoping to snag a spot of someone that left early and sure enough there was. Plenty of blue berry picking in August and Raspberries are still around as well.
