Dirt pull offs from the paved road, some cars drive by. Quiet night.

This is a wide turnout very near where the road intersects with Mormon Emigrant Trail. We actually stayed a 1/4 mile down the road at a large nearly level patch with a fire ring. Required about 3" of levelling side to side. Very quiet even on a Memorial Day weekend. Road is slightly steep and and rocky but no problem with our 25' travel trailer and 2wd pickup truck.

We frequented this turnout because we were able to get LTE connection with T-mobile here. This entire area was burned in the Caldor fire in 2021. There are still some stands of pine trees around but most were killed. But the surrounding hillsides were green with vegetation so in spite of the devastated trees it was quite beautiful. And the wildflowers in the area were just breathtaking.

Camping is permitted here as long as you follow the rules spelled out on the Eldorado National Forest website.

There was some trash left around by less considerate visitors, but I have seen worse.

Just another pull off with a fire pit and great views. A little weekend traffic with off road enthusiasts, but quite otherwise. Spent the last three days here, I saw two dear, five rabbits, hundreds of squirrels and on mole.

Report Check-In

Pull off of the side of the highway. Short drive down a dirt road and there’s a spot on the right that people use for camping. Room for 4 or 5 vans probably. We spent the night, and 1 car drove on the dirt road at like 8:30pm and that was the only other person we saw.
