Honduras
A small camping area at the end of a football pitch. This is right across from Copan. There are a couple guest houses nearby with showers that we were able to use, and bathrooms as well. Price was 150L.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Level parking spot on a private football field. friendly family, with a very curious son who will keep you company. Toilet was OK, the shower was dirty and there is no privacy, as it's only divided by a curtain and the dogs, cats and chicken (there are a lot of them, some in bad condition 🙁) like to hide inside.
Also not very quiet at night, a lot of traffic and barking dogs.
cost is now 200 Lempira per van and night.
We can highly recommend this place! Mauricio and his wife Alicia welcomed as hearty and gave us a lot of good recommendations for the area. The toilet facilities were perfectly clean and they also offered us electricity plus there is a water hose in case you want to fill your tank. The entrance to the ruins (20$ pp) is directly opposite their house and it is also in walking distance to a bigger supermarket and the beautiful town (maybe 1 km). The entrance to their property is right across the Texaco gas station.
Report Check-Inendroit tres calme juste en face de l entree des ruines. 150L/nuit. Famille vraiment sympathique.
Report Check-InEverything as described. Spent 3 days here: 150 pro night, felt save, nice people, plus they have a laundry service now on site for the guests.
Report Check-InMauricio and all his family welcomed us warmly. We slept in the grassy area next to their house, and we were able to use their shower and their toilet (very clean). My children played soccer with their children. I highly recommend especially that it is right in front of the ruins! We paid 150L.
Report Check-InAsked at the Texaco gas station yesterday to stay, they directed us to the other side of the street - Sr. Mauricio opened the gate and called us to come in - heavy rain, we were happy to have a safe place. Afterwards we found out that this is a camping lot. He didn’t ask for any money as we didn’t use any facilities, but we had a safe night and we gave him 100 L anyway. An ideal place for visiting the ruins.
Report Check-Invery bad place to stay, would not recommend!!
family not welcoming, dirty facilities, no shade, completely rundown, totally overpriced!!
left the next day - wanted to visit the ruins, but no dogs allowed there...
We stayed there for one night while visiting the Copan Ruins. It is not a nice place and all is covered with plastic rubish! Cold outdoor-shower....They asked 250 Lempira for one night! I would recommend not to go there!
Report Check-InThere is nothing with the name "Las Arenas" on it, and it was initially hard to find, as it is behind the street-side merchants huts. Paid 150L per night for one vehicle/2 persons. Electrical plug-in, flush toilets, cold showers. The family runs a small restaurant, so if you told them ahead of time, you could probably get some food. Didn't try it. Conveniently across from ruins, so you can go back and forth during the day. No WiFi that we could access in the area.
Report Check-InGreat place to camp. We camped here with our bikes for 50L each, the family is very friendly, happy and helpful and the spot is directly across the road from the ruins. They have a simple shower and bathroom and you can pitch your tent under cover of a roof. They also gave us a table and chairs. The is also a restaurant attached which serves good, cheap, simple food. Regarding the wifi- the family know the password for the wifi from the archeological site, which you can pick up from the campsite's restaurant, it's a good speed.
Report Check-InWe stayed here two nights. Paid 150L a night with bathrooms, showers (cold) and electricity. We also basically got use of the entire porch/shaded area where we plugged in. Lovely family. We had a great time playing guitar and frisbee with the kids. We kept our dog on a long rope the whole time because they have a female dog (also tied up) who was aggressive. A couple make dogs wandered around off leash but they are harmless. Overall great place to stay with lovely people and perfect access to get into Copan early to beat the crowds. Opens at 8am for entry but you can go walk the nature trails earlier.
Report Check-InA place to park and crash for a night or two few meters from the road. Electricity available for extra 30 lempiras. Not much of a luxury.
Report Check-InPaid 100lps for the 2 of us per night here (stayed 3 nights). Gave us a place under a roof to put up our tent which was great as we as we'd come through hours of rain getting here. Is on concrete so only needed tent inner part. Also the park actually seems to open at 7.15 to 7.30 (8 is advertised) so you can walk across the road to get in real early for that lovely light and also to see the ruins before the throngs of people arrive. Rooms with shower and nicer toilets were locked at night but open all day. Entrance is opposite the Texaco garage beside the souvenir shop. Friendly enough people too!
Report Check-In120L without electricity 150L with. Handy location short walk to both ruins and the town.
Report Check-InYou stay in the back yard of a family on the football field, out of sight from the road. Quiet at night. The family is incredibly friendly and warm. The road from the border crossing is very good and only 10km. Showers, bathroom and dishwashing station available.

Report Check-InLocal family building up a camp ground and hostel just across the road from the entrance to the Copan ruins. When we were there it looked like a construction site, and the facilities wasn't much to talk about. Okay for a nights stay though, and will probably look better by the time you get there. Looks like they are also setting up a restaurant/bar.
Price: 150 quetzales
