Something not right?

Description

Security issues were a few years ago. We had absolutely no worries. Just keep your rig locked when you're not in it. Locals can also watch your car.

GTT ROBBED!! NOT RECOMMENDED...
Remarkably uninhibited beach just north of playa El Gigante. Just as you are leaving El Gigante heading on the northers road take the dirt road the turns off to the left over the little hill (don't take the sharp left to the restaurant). Long stretch of beach shared with a few cows, monkeys and the occasional surfer walking to the next beach over. Good access road in with several boondocking options.

Nice peaceful night to the sound of the waves, after a beautiful sunset. Woke to what I thought was a small earthquake, but it was just a passing cow taking advantage of the van for a gentle morning scratch!

Almost no Claro signal where I parked, but just a few steps towards the beach and it was fine.

Towards the end of the dirt trail you reach a big concrete house where some locals live. They have a large fenced area where you can camp, if you don't feel safe leaving the car unwatched while at the beach / surfing. Very peaceful, highly recommended. There's a dirt trail from here that climbs over the peak to an awesome spot right on Playa Colorado, but it's gnarly AF.

Amazing quiet beach location. Pretty good unpaved access road in with no problems. Loads of parking under trees. But little shade in the dry season. We didn't make it as far as the marker due to overhanging tree branches. But still loads of boondocking spots past the pay security lot to choose from.

Absolutely no security worries here. Only a handful of people pass by, usually with surf boards going further down the beach. Stayed here a couple of weeks waiting out Covid-19 border closures without any problems. It is hot! But most days has a nice cooling breeze. Amazing beach all to ourselves except maybe weekends. Even then only a couple of family groups. Dry camping with no services and very limited cell reception. We found it very clean and without any animals like pigs, so it's dog friendly.

Stayed here in a 25' Class C. And will be returning to stay again after extending Visa and TIP.

We stayed two nights here in the van and with two hammocks outside of it. In direct sunlight before you get to the trees. The surfing was good. Nice beach walks, beautiful beach besides the loads of trash left by locals and unfortunately rooted through by local pigs so make sure to keep you trash up and out of reach. Felt safe and were given no reason to feel otherwise. We kept our things locked up and were extra cautious especially during the nights.

Nice place at a beautiful beach, BUT don't let your camper alone! The locals told us, that some stuff got stolen here out of a camper a few months ago.

DON'T STAY THERE OVERNIGHT!!
we stood there for one night, its so beautiful, BUT somebody told us that two people have been ROBBED the last two months.
We moved to the "Estacionamento" run by a couple just in the beginning of Playa Amarillo. We payed 10USD the night and got ROBBED the same night, even behind the fence. They stole two cameras and a guitare out of the car while we were sleeping inside with closed doors. Police didn't do anything...!
Better go to Camino Hostel, there its save...

Most beautiful fee camping spot with no one else around but still has groceries and water within a 20min walk. There is also a Spanish school on playa gigante beach, 10 minutes walk away if you need lessons. Surf spot panga drops is about 25min walk away.
