Description

A beautiful coffee finca in the hills of Nicaragua. To get here, head to Yacul. (Don't follow Google maps suggestion). At Yacul, you'll turn north to head to the finca. Follow the signs at this point. This finca is extremely Eco friendly, recycling and reusing almost all their waste. Restaurant is stocked with food from their organic garden. Highly recommend. Cost is $20 per night. Camp area is in small dirt parking lot. Free all you can drink potable spring water and coffee available. You may also be able to buy some veggies here if they have excess, but the restaurant is amazingly good.

We did the long road for nothing, it seems to be closed right now because of a change of owner
If you ever try to go there, do NOT LISTEN to Google map and go to yukul and then to just take the left to esperanza verde

An absolute paradise! The perfectly maintained finca is located in the mountains surrounded by beautiful nature and wildlife. Very friendly staff. We really enjoyed the different hikes around the finca where we saw sloths, howler monkeys, toucans, motmots and red-eyed frogs. We would recommend taking a guide for at least one hike as he can point the animals for you (5 USD p.p.). The food is very fresh and healthy. You get a 3-course meal for 12 USD p.p. All in all the prices are more than fair. We were only charged 15 USD per night for 2 people sleeping in the car (no additional tax).

What’s not to like? Howler monkeys and sloths? Humming birds and beautiful gardens? Nice hiking trails with the owners dogs? Delicious dinners? Great views and coffee all day? You might not want to come if you’re on a tight budget, it’s rainy season, or you have a low clearance vehicle. If you make it you won’t want to leave. Trust me.

Gorgeous place with really long, fun trails. We made it up the road in our class B without 4x4, but it was slow-going. Make sure you spend at least a couple of nights here for all the effort.

The 20 dollars/night doesn't include taxes! Yes, when we checked out, they added VAT. We argued that they didn't mention that at the beginning so they took it off. They said they're still getting used to the idea of campers.

$13.80 for one plate of chicken, rice, and salad, and not $3.80 as I thought I heard the woman say (oops). Owner was offended at my misunderstanding (hasn't she ever eaten in a comedor? 😉). $2/can beer. That gives you an idea of cost of food at restaurant. So stock up on groceries before you come.

Hot showers, good wifi, lovely views, free coffee all day make up for cost.

Access to beautiful facilities - two lounge areas, hammocks, tables, hot showers, clean bathrooms, hiking trails. All you can drink coffee and water, all you can eat bananas.
Laundry - sinks to wash your own, or pay by the item for staff to wash and dry for you.
Con - you're just parked in a small dirt parking lot, but it's very quiet and you'll spend all your time in their lounges anyway.

Wonderful place ! Lot of hummingbirds, many trails, possibilty to visit a school near the finca
Coffee, banana, hamac, very nice staff
But be careful with rain if you don t have 4*4, the last 3km is bad !

Beautiful place but it is now 20usd for the night ! Not a good road to come here

Report Check-In

j'ai adore parce que il y avait du thé, du café et de la banane a volonté. Aussi du wifi. Des colibris a 3 mètre sur la terrasse.

Beautiful coffee finca. Worth every penny. 15usd per vehicle per night. 12usd for 3 course dinner (no obligation). Trails are well marked and gorgeous. All is very well organised and thought through. Very good and extensive info on fauna, flora, trail description, ... Very good price/quality!! Last part steeper and good 4wd necessary in rainy saison. Parking good for max 5 vehicles (big rigs limited - place for maybe 1)

It’s like in paradise. Temperatures are not so hot and the environment is fantastic. There are several trails and you can also take a guided tour. Camp spot is in the little parking lot. When it rains it can be a little muddy. Restrooms are clean. Food is pricy (10USD for breakfast and 15 USD for dinner) but good quality. Also if it rains the whole day you can relax in the huge lounge and enjoy the nature.

It's like a spa for body and soul.
Note: Very small parkinglot, only for 1-2 not to big campervans!

Please contact in advance to ensure available space. Price is now $15 per night per vehicle. Confirmed no dogs allowed and no tent camping. Breakfast is $10 per person and is normally an option of typico or oatmeal. Lunch and dinner are $15 per person and include a salad from their garden, main course, and desert, most diets accommodated. There are 5 trails of varying difficulty and length. Lush, tropical environment with lots of birds and the chance to see monkeys and sloths.

Now they ask for 15 dollars a night. But we told them we were expecting to pay 10 so they agreed for that price.

We stayed unexpectedly three nights here and enjoyed it a lot. Vivianne is such a warm, welcoming and lovely host. If you would like you can have meals there, but they dont expect you to. The facilities are super nice and clean. The whole place is really nicely done and kept clean all day long. There is coffee, tee, spring water and bananas the whole day for free. There are also five really beautiful hiking trails on the property. Vivianne can also tell you a lot about places to go near by and organise tours/guides. There is WiFi available in the reception area, but unfortunately no electricity is available at the spots/parking lot. As you just stay basically in the parking lot there is not so much space and you should contact the finca in advance to be sure that there is space for you. We payed 270cordobas/10$ per night for both of us.

great place, quiet, free coffee and tea, $10/night, breakfast $10, lunch $12, dinner $12

This is a beautiful place, which may be reached with a truck too, but owner should be contacted ahead of arrival in order to make sure that the limited parking space is not occupied. We enjoyed the hiking trails, the excellent food and some other extras like the bonfire, the local traditional music group, the veg garden, where one can buy bio vegetables. The wifi is really fast and the staff is very friendly.

Absolutely wonderful in every single way. Clean, charming, organised, beautifully decorated and with staggering views. Friendly and helpful staff. Really nice cuban/American lady owner. So peaceful and calm. Yoga offered in beautiful pavilion looking out over the forest and mountains. Delicious food all sourced from their immaculate, terraced vegetable gardens. Lovely selection of trails to choose from- sloths, howler monkeys, toucans, humming birds. Small space for about 3 campers but not that level so needed to use rocks. Free (homemade on their plantation) coffee all day, tea selection and a LOT of bananas available to eat all day! Don't ever want to leave!

Beautiful place. Road is a bit rough but does not require 4x4 when dry. Do NOT follow your Garmin you will not get there. Follow the description on IOverlander.

We really enjoyed our stay at this Finca. Added another night and still it was hard to leave. Great trails, saw several sloths and also one with young. Lots of birds right from our camper door. English spoken. Great source of information from staff. Very nice owner and staff. Wonderful meals if you want to have them. Will definitely recommend this Finca to other travellers.it is an overall tidy well organized spot. Beautiful views with sunsets too!

Report Check-In

Great place, peaceful and beautiful. Welcoming crew and owner. The trails are nice, the view an cloud forest very special. We camped right in the parking lot. There is a grassy spot for maybe two smallish campers, but for now it is not level. The owner plans to level it soon. $ 15.00/night includes use of trails and all facilities, all the coffee and bananas you want. Dinners $ 12.00/very good. The water is potable and certified so.

Report Check-In

No TENT CAMPING. You must have a vehicle to sleep in. And, NO DOGs are allowed any longer.

We emailed them about staying and were informed about no tent and no dogs. There was a recent incident of an overlander's dog attacking the owners dogs so no dogs any longer.

First hot shower since Mexico about 7 weeks ago and they now have fast internet. But price now $7.50 per person per night, $12 per meal and $3 for a beer, they expect you to join them for at least some meals and also for some of the activities and ask at least 24hrs notice of arrival. That said if you join in it is an excellent place, we staid 2 nights, had dinner the first night, joined the very informative coffee tour ($8 pp) and did 2 of the walks (1 to 2 hours each). Not for anyone on a tight budget.

This place is a secret paradise, and accurate based on the other description. However, the road to get here is very rough, full of potholes, so what Google Maps shows should be 12km off the main road took us over 40 grueling 4x4 minutes. But it's worth it! $11/plate for a delicious dinner. Breakfast and lunch are also available, with vegetarian options. All the food is organic and raised on site. Organic coffee, tea, and chia water is complimentary in the dining area. There are many hikes on marked trails, as well as free trail book. Guided hikes are $8-10pp. There are many modern cabins and houses to rent. We paid C275/night for 2 of us to camp (or about $5 pp). The staff are all really nice! There is a parking lot where we parked our big truck camper.
