Description

This is the parking lot for the Red Cross in Granada. Not amazing facilities but not far from down town Granada
paid 100c for a van for a night and they were ok with us sleeping in the van. The toilet is terrible. it was a quiet night only a small amount of noise from the road. a quick walk to the nice parts of town, and the malecon on the water.

Somehow a really quiet and relaxing place for staying in a city. Of course you have a little bit of road noise, but during the night it is nearly completely gone.
Very close to the center and the best: Really lovely people who are working here!

We paid 200C for 24h.

Report Check-In

We stayed overnight because we had a bad feeling on the streets. The parking lot is fenced and guarded, but open 24 hours a day. There is a toilet, which is also open 24 hours a day. Large parking space possible for any size vehicle. The center of Granada is easily accessible on foot. We paid 200 Cordoba/night, a bit expensive for Nicaragua, but we felt safe and location is good too.

Secure parking lot, very close to the historic center & Malecon( waterfront). Somewhat noisy.

Report Check-In

Huge parking lot than can fit any type of car (even chicken bus). It’s gated and guarded.
You pay by half day depending of your size of vehicle. For our truck camper it was 150 for 12hours.
Very close to the center

Parking lot for rigs of any size. They increased the price. Now its 400c for 24 hrs per car. They dont have any service, we asked for some water and they said no. Not very friendly people but the place is close to the Plaza and its safe.

ATTENTION TO CYCLISTS:

We are a family of 3 traveling from Mexico to Panama with 2 bikes and 1 child trailer.

The red cross rejected us to sleep in our tent in the parking lot. They said this option is only available for people traveling with a motor home and there is no space for tents, which was an absurd statement, since the parking was almost empty and there is space for at least 10 tents on the side of one of the buildings where it is more hidden. We said we'll donate, but still they did not want.

When you're visiting town don't rely only on this option. Still give it a try though, because it might be another "boss" there who accepts cyclist.

We went instead to "Escuela de Comedia y Mimo", marked on iOverlander as "La casa de las botellitas". We stayed there in our tent for just 2 USD per person per night. In the beginning they asked 3 USD which is also OK, but after asking for discount if we stay more days, they said 2 USD per person. Children free.

Happy travels.

Good luck and safe travels.

We there are arrived in end of morning and have paid 200 c for the day and the night with one 24 feet. Very close of city center, places secure and very calm. After agreement i have could connect my computer in the reception for work. Personal very pleasant and sympathetic. We could fill our tank of water before leave. Granada is really one city very nice.

Report Check-In

Place is just ok for one or two nights .
It’s a huge parking lot fenced and guard all night. They usually do 24hrs shift.
Red Cross Staff was friendly but they don’t care too much for the travelers.
100 córdobas p.n. You can use only bathrooms . No showers or WiFi either.

Report Check-In

we don't really like this place, because they don't have shower, the restroom was dirty, they ask 100 cordabas more for electricity, and don't want to give us the password of wifi and it coast 200 córdobas , we really found very cool places in our trip

Report Check-In

Stayed one week as we had Spanish classes at Spanish Dale. Very hot this time of year. Paid 1200 for the week. Plenty of pools around town to cool off for cheap. Great cheap food as well. Great city to visit!! Come here!!

Report Check-In

We stayed here, at the parking lot from the red cross. The parking area is safe and you can use the toilet and (really basic) shower. Facilities are ok, fine for one night. Friendly people and we were happy to have a 24 h secure parking. The down town is close by so you can walk from here. 200 ccd per night. This money is a donation for the Red Cross. Best option in town.

Report Check-In

They now apparently charge 200 Cordobas for „casa rodante“ with no additional service... there was a wifi network but we weren’t given the password. Fairly quiet at night even close to the street.

Report Check-In

Came here after the fire station turned me away. Was allowed to stay the night for no charge though I was on foot with no vehicle.

Even had a good place for a hammock along with places for a tent.

Report Check-In

Se stayed here for a couple of nights paying 100 cordobas a night. Very safe place, with nice people from the Red Cross to update you of all the bad things that have been going on with the corrupt government of the dictator Daniel Ortega. Poor Nicaraguan people..... There are a simple shower and water to fill the RV water tank.

After a exhausting trip from Matagalpa to Granada we were very thankfull for this save place. Lot of other cars but a parking lot was enough for us to relax.

Report Check-In

Safe parking lot, nice people, 100C per night, toilet and water, no wifi, no showers. Great option, better than the bomberos!

Report Check-In

Fenced, secure parking in good location. One toilet/sink in bathroom. No shower available. No Wifi. Water hose to fill tanks. Paid $200 for “big rig” didn’t try to negotiate. Some shade. Some breeze.

Report Check-In

great place , only 100c for 1 night. water and wc. many fly ...

150 for a night. Basic bathroom and rusty shower. Close to everything. Nice people.

Report Check-In

Nice folks. Safe camping spot for vehicles.

Report Check-In

great spot in town but just another parking lot. we left our van and walked the city all day. we paid $100c by just telling them "it's 100 right?" bathroom was open all night. water hose nearby b

Report Check-In

great place to stay in Grenada. People working there were really nice. It's at a walking distance of the city center. It was 100 C per night. We didn't ask for wifi.

Report Check-In

We stayed for three nights and loved it. Very basic, shower around the back, toilet, water, electricity (if you have a long power cord). Didn’t ask about WiFi. Very close to the center. Roberto the night security told us C$50 per night, but when we came to pay they asked for C$300 per night. We settled on C$150 + a small donation to the Red Cross - so I suggest you agree a price and pay upfront to avoid any later confusion.

Report Check-In

Jumped out of the car and asked is the parking 100 cordobas. It wasn't :) We settled for 130C for two person and camper for a night. Parked between two houses next to the security guy with a shotgun. Water tap was less then one meter away so half tank showers! Well worth the money.

Report Check-In

Paid 150c per night without WiFi. Cost 50 C more. Camper van with 2 persons.

Report Check-In

This is a safe parking lot, windy enough and shady also depending on where you park. The bathrooms are ok, not really as trashy as mentioned before, just bring your own TP. Walking distance from the center of town. I would recommend camping here if you don't wanna pay for accommodation in Granada, which is pricey.!

Report Check-In

Still 100c and we could fill our water tank. Safe spot.

Report Check-In

Trashy and with a not so clean bathroom, but safe and cheap. 100 Cordobas for the night. Unfortunately it is located in a terrain depression that prevents air flow.
The people there however are nice and helpful.

Report Check-In

Attended lot with friendly staff. Mostly used as a parking lot of all types of vehicles, presumably for people who don't have parking at home. Paid 200 Córdoba per night. Water and power would be extra but don't know how much. You would need to run a long extension cord to the office or use over there if needed. Water spout also near office. My dog was allowed once I demonstrated that he is friendly. No other dogs here (currently). Overall a Good spot close to the action in Granada.

Report Check-In

Not nice, but still the best if you want to camp in Granada. The guard is very friendly, it's open all night, the price is unbeatable and the toilet was clean. No showers. The guard doesn't know the wifi password, you will have to ask the RC-staff during office hours.

Report Check-In

Quiet 2 minutes from down Town no shower water WC Possibilité to use power in office for computer it's better and more clean than other sur Near the beach

Report Check-In

Parked/camped on the basketball court. We paid only 50 Cordobas to camp per day. You can't beat that. Clean restroom. Water available. No showers. Friendly staff. Honestly we have stayed at way, way worse places and don't think this place is bad at all; given the price location right in the city. We're overlanding right?! ;)

Report Check-In

Just a dusty parking lot. The Red Cross it self does not seem very busy; their main activity appears to be serving as a parking lot. Mainly cars of locals at night and buses throughout the day. There is a toilet in the main building (left door is the office, right door is a hall, toilet in the corner to the left). We did not use it. Have not seen any shower. Lots of people until about 10 pm, after that quiet. For 100 Cord per van a cheap place to stay at a central location.

Report Check-In

Same paid 100 cordobas for the night. No wifi, clean bathrooms. Didn't offer the shower. Offered potable water instead. Shaded and had a little breeze. Not the nicest but better than the Leon fire department.

Report Check-In

Parking de la croix rouge situé proche du centre ville 100 cor par nuit. Tranquille

Report Check-In

Not the best overnight spot, but good for the 100nic, friendly staff and just at the main street with all the bar and restaurants.

Report Check-In

OK, I'll be the Negative Nancy. I'm starting to wonder how some of these places end up on IOverlander. First, I will state the positive, that we NEVER felt unsafe at this place. However.....the dirtiest of all of the dirt lots we've stayed in. There should be 2 lists. 1 for good, to great spots to camp/park/sleep, and 1 for those moments your totally desperate. This would spot would be on the desperate list....very desperate. Parking here would be fine, but we don't recommend overnighting it.

Report Check-In

100 cordovas still, with receipt. Dusty patking lot, at least there are toilets and some sort of shower, but there is no light inside at night. Evening badketball and soccer games with noise and teenagers trying to climb on the top of our van. With all that close to centro and cheap.

Report Check-In

100 NIO, simple facilities, quiet during night. Great Italian (?) bakery 'Pan de Vida', 406 Calle La Calzadá, on the way to the historic center, on the right side.

Report Check-In

100c and close to town but 000's of small flies that don't bite, nice cool shower. Band practice at 6a.m on Friday morning.

Report Check-In

100 cordobas per night. Well situated, good walking distance to the lake and downtown.

Report Check-In

We stayed' next to the Building. There was also a good Open Wifi.

Report Check-In

Charged us 50 cordoba for the night. No shower. Fairly noisy at night. But cant complain for the cheap price and great location.

Report Check-In

For the price of 100 cordoba , the place was great. Functioning bathrooms, with single cold shower. Staff was friendly, ground was level, and we found electricity hookup unofficially ,though nobody said anything. There is a water hookup next to the site. There are some territorial dogs onsite, but really not a problem unless you have pets. It is secure with staff around the clock. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night, so lots of activity into the evening with locals playing basketball. It quieted down around 10 pm, except the occasional truck entering or exiting, or dogs barking. All in all worth the approx. $4.00 in my opinion. Bonus easy walking distance to central park and the lake, so we never moved the vehicles the whole time.
