wild camping RIGHT on the beach. a CDN lady in Xcalak told us about this spot. a short road left off the main beach road right after you turn right when you hit the beach road from the paved road. Totally private with Cancun like beach all to yourself but there is some garbage along the shoreline. no services of course, but we did get cell reception at night.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Lots of trash everywhere (it mostly comes from cruise ships and water currents...) but the ocean is super nice. If you feel like helping, every saturday the people from the town do a different beach clean up. Ask around. But I’d rather sleep in town, everything is a bit cleaner. You can have your dog basically everywhere too (beach and ocean)
Report Check-InAs described by previous visitors.....
This spot has single large pino tree which is providing shade between 11 - 14....
We have stayed 4 nights, had no problems.
Report Check-InThe garbage on this coast is terrible, otherwise this would be a nice wild camp spot. There is also tons of seaweed this year, but that's nature not like those plastic bottles, flip flops, toys, nets, tooth brushes...
Report Check-InI don't know how the coast further north is like as I come from Belize but if that place worths a point on ioverlander, should be quite ugly and dirty! Don't make a turn here! Just a tiny place full of trashes. At my opinion, Toby's place is the only place worth to stay south of Mahahual eventhough you should not expect too much for swimming.
