Must have 4x4 and recommend to not arrive in the dark: quite a bumpy road. Also, activities in the area are quite limited (none) without a boat

On the map it looks like we camped on the water; not so. We went in the campsite entrance, right where it said “four wheel drive recommended”, stayed right of a post with number one on it and again by outhouse number nine. Eventually we made it down to the water where we could camp and launch out kayak. We did that with a Ford Escape AWD and a 17ft teardrop trailer.

There were maybe 10 or 12 groups camping with a good 1/4 mile between most.

Watch the weather. We had calm mornings and high winds in the afternoons.

There are no trees and if you are not going on the water,it is pretty stark.

Visited during the off season (November) and we were the only souls in this massive dispersed area. Camped right on the shoreline. Beautiful spot, and well worth the drive. The stars at night was bananas. Access is from the north via Notom-Bullfrog/Burr trail or 276, or via Hall's ferry to the south. Once inside GCNRA gate it's a quick left onto the campground road. Campground roads are packed gravel or dirt, not sandy like at Lone Rock. Some mild rock obstacles, but manageable by any vehicle with modest clearance. No amenities other than pit toilet, sign at the top recommends bringing a portable toilet if camping away from the pit toilets (most of the best sites are far). $12 a night +/- $25 if you don't have an annual interagency pass.

Got a nice little spot on a peninsula, same place as last year. Secluded, but you can hear people on boats etc. A lot of people don’t realize sounds carry across the water . Still fairly quiet here on a Monday. (Except someone running a generator ACROSS THE LAKE, that everyone could hear still running till 2300). The “pit” toilets are DISGUSTING!!! 5 stars for the camping. 0 for PortACrappers

dont come here if you enjoy silence. place is completely overrun. lots of Kids and boats making noise all day long. price is actually 37. 12 for Camping and 25 for the Park pass. Not worth it, lake was pretty warm in early July so not that refreshing, water from lake definitely needs filtering.
