Great spot with amazing view! Went to the campground on Route 24 and they were full. The host said if we didn’t need to hook up to drive down the street (next to campground found on IO) because it’s National Forest Land and there is a spot. Spot indeed! Drive a short way down until you come to a fork. Straight is a dead end. Go left and drive about 1/2 mile on dirt/rock road. No need for 4WD. No pot holes either! You will see what looks like a dirt street with a cul-de-sac on the left. Plenty of room with fire pit in middle. We were only ones here probably because it wasn’t marked. 1 house in the distance. Very quiet and no other roads. Looks like there are ATV trails around based on sign and seeing one heading back to the Main Street.
Here at the end of April and the NPs are getting busy so this is a great spot if you need a last minute free stay. No lights so very dark at night.
On a side note: there are lots of cacti if you go where the bushes are. Wouldn’t let your pups anywhere but the dirt campsite.

Nice large dirt lot. Very windy, but one here. The Mexican restaurant at the intersection was good.
Report Check-InSpot a little down the road from the first spot. Very nice fire ring
Report Check-InLarge flat area right off gravel road. Could likely handle a decent size rig. This spot is out in the open. There is a smaller, more secluded site just up the road.
