Description

Get passport stamped here on DRC entry. MAKE SURE you got stamp at RoC exit passport control checkpoint in Tombo. We had to go back because we didn't get that RoC stamp. We had our passports stamped at Louingui... but apparently you NEED that second stamp at Tombo.

Pleasant people. No hassle. About 1 hour. Wanted to see CDP (stamp in Luozi). Asked for Angola visa but explained its now obtained at border. No problem. Had a look through car - more intrigued than anything else.

DRC->RoC
no money asked for. Very correct but reserved officer.
We came late at 6pm and he told us to cam just next to the DGM office. Next morning at 6am he was ready to stamp our passports. Didn't ask for any money or drinks but slow process. Seems he takes his work incredibly seriously and notes the details in different forms/books. We were there on Sunday, which was no m
problem at all.
Name of the officers was Jean Marie. Mr. Athur from the previous posts was not here when we were.

RoC to DRC:
We had no problems here. Slow but correct officer, did not ask for any money.
Make sure you have a passport copy. And he also wanted to see our Angola Visa.

RoC -> RDC
After reading the comments here we stayed super friendly to both Mr. Arthur and his colleague. They both took their job incredibly serious, so it took some time but we let them. All in all one hour. We don't speak a lot of French maybe that helped, but they weren't unfriendly to us. Mr. Arthur asked for something to drink after handing us our passports stamped. Like always we kindly refused which wasn't a problem. Stamping of Carnet in Luwozi, according to the officers here.

DRC-> RC:
Team of corrupt officials, playing the good guy/bad guy game in order to get bribes for a stamp in the CdP. We did not pay - no stamp in the CdD. However, a stamp is not necessary since both Congos are not included in the CdP-agreement. Nobody at Douane/Louingui was asking for the missing stamp - they are there very helpful, correct, nice!

The name of “le commissaire” is Alain Arthur. I went to DGM in Luozi first, they took all my details and photocopies, and I made sure to remember the name and phone no. of the chef there. When I met Alain Arthur, he first did his “i am so angry” act, and told me I shouldve brought a photocopy. Told him I did everything back in Luozi, we gave them a phonecall, and suddenly Alain was the most friendliest man. He even showed me somewhere in town where they sell great tasting ‘galettes’!

The guy seems to have got a lot more aggressive about wanting bribes for the stamp. He was unfriendly from the moment I met him on the street outside. He kept inventing fake problems which I answered one by one. Then he demanded a 20 USD bribe to stamp the passport. I refused. We went back and forth about this for about 40 minutes during which he physically threatened me, threw my passport on the floor and waved a dead bat in my face. I stayed calm and did not pay. In the end he stamped the passport.

Documents required were Covid and yellow fever vaccine certificates, copies of passport, DRC visa and Congo-Brazzaville visa

Back in Luozi the head of immigration tried to tell me the border was closed and that I must head back to kinshasa. He kept my passport and said he would return in the morning with it to make sure I didn’t try for the border. In the morning he said he had spoken to his counter part in the ROC and they could let me cross for $50. Got him down to $20 and he let me go. This was all a complete hustle by him and none of the borders were closed nor did he actually speak to his counterparts across the border.

Otherwise crossing was straightforward and friendly on either side.

Documents were registered and Passport was stamped. Easy and friendly. Could sleep in the roof tent in the backyard of the chief immigration officers house. They also passed on the information to Luozi, where the CDP will be stamped as well.

Report Check-In

Stamped the passport for a second time. Very easy and friendly.

from DRC to Congo Brazza
only copy of passport needed, no desinfection, no money need to pay, everything free. The office is really oldschool :)

Report Check-In

Wheels were disinfected but surprisingly when I asked if it was for free (expecting to be asked for $10 or something), the guy said yes and I was never asked for money. The passport guy asked for $10 for the stamp but I just said no and he dropped the issue. Overall pretty smooth although it took a little time.

Report Check-In

Checked the whole car. Had a friend (who has his own office in the village) who needed to desinfect my wheels! After the immigration guy charged 10 USD for the passport stamp. The sprayer wanted to have 15. Gave him 5. Got a receipt

Exiting DRC to Congo.
Friendly immigration officer at the DGM office. Took 20min, with copies of passeports + DRC visas ready.
Whaterver is saying the guy, the dirt road towards Congo is very bad and might be really chalenging if wet or during the rainy season. We made the 12km in 1h40 ...

Locals will direct you to find it. No stress. Passport copy and asked for Tambo RoC stamp which we had. Checked our bags, asking if we were military. All easy enough. Onwards to the ferry.
