Description

Small rustic campsite in the Malolotja NP with taps, tables, braai stands, the caretaker fires up the donkey for hot showers in the afternoon and morning, ablutions are basic but clean and functional, many blesboks around the campsite, restaurant at the reception but closes at 17:00, the hiking here is absolutely fantastic and we highly recommend to visit this park! 200R pp (14€) + 70R pp (4€) for conservation fee which you only have to pay once

Latest Check-Ins

Just bevor lower Malolotja Campsite you find the Potholes. There is a trail to the beautiful Pools in the River. But the trail is really hard to find and follow. I got lost and had a hard time.
Be a strong and experienced hiker and you will enjoy. Professionell beerdrinkers above age of 60 - leave it. Stay in the Camp.

We intended to camp here but it was very rainy so decided to stay in the log cabins. Very comfortable and can sleep up to five people with a kitchen, braai and great hot shower. R400pppn (this included the conservation fee).

very nice place. Guard Dennis does a great job! Hot water in morning and in evening.
clean spot!

Report Check-In

Nice green hills around, but too expensive for a place without electricity and poor showers (no pressure and hot water not working) almost 700r for 1 night for 2 adults 1 child (above 3 yo at half price) with the park fees. hiking trail to the falls (one of the two trails was closed) starts 6km from the camp so you have to drive for a while.

Report Check-In

Day visit 70 pp. besides waterfall hike point the rest of it you should have 4x4. Waterfall hike was a bit of a let down as there’s no clear path down to pools and the view was better from above, where you are parked anyway

Nice for a day visit

In April 22 they increased prices by 100%
200 per person per night plus entrance fee of 70.

Report Check-In

since April the entrance price and price for camping has doubled, now amounting to 70E entrance and 200E ppn camping

The bathrooms got renovated, so it’s not too bad. Still no power, also not in the bathrooms, make sure you bring a torch. Hot water from the donkey, water pressure not great.

Check out the geocache bit downstream from the campsite. And go for a walk from the bench viewpoint down to the Malolotja river and take a swim.

Report Check-In

Really nice location. The price was now 100R pppn for Camping and 25R park entrance fee.

everything said before. If you come with a bigger camping car, make sure you top up your water tank before. Water here is drinkable but not clear.

Beatiful campsite: don’t miss it! Most pitches are separated by boulders and vegetation, so you have privacy. Most have a tap, braai and stone table with rocks as chairs. Hot water for showers. Lots of birds and blesboks around, jackals crying at night. Lovely drives in the reserve (we saw zebras & jackal) and hikes (some trails not marked properly, ours ended suddenly).

Campsite in a wonderful location, we had it all to ourselves. Fantastic view, very helpful lady at the reception. Wifi wirks at reception and the restaurant, not at the campsite. When we were there, the ablutions were run down but clean. Hot water from donkey which they will fire. Overall - I would definitely go again.

We had the campsite all for ourselves.
Really calm with a nice view.
Unfortunately ablutions are running down and very very dirty.

Feels like camping in nature with lots of beautiful flowers and views.
If you are in Swazi thene you have to camp here!!
But!!!! Be carefull if you open your door in the morning. You can hit a Blesbok in the face ;-)

About 5 places good for cars. Very nice fireplaces surrounded by walls.
Well protected against the wind with rocks and bushes. Many blesbok and dassies. Ablutions old, but interesting. Everything well maintened by a caretaker. Bring your wood.
Unfortunatly the road is quite near and hearable. The restaurant in 5 minutes distance at the office is open till 4, but you can arrange dinner for later.
Camping is 150.-R for two, entrance fee is 30.-R p.p. once.
There are many hiking trails with views over the mountains till ZA.

very nice place with stunning view. we were alone and saw too many stars! no light, no electricity but hot showers thanks to a donkey switch on every afternoon. table, braai, tap water. nice hiking. we loved it!
no wild card. 30 per people to enter and 100 pppn for camping.

everything is already told, but i have to write something, because this place is such a wonderful Spot ! the hiking to the view with the two waterfalls is very exhausting if you are not in shape,.... It is very very steep ! but the campsite -- really amazing, and Denis is keeping the water hot! he is doing a great Job :-)

Report Check-In

Like described by others, including prices. Note that there is no electricity on the campsite at all, which also means that there are no lights in the ablutions (which, by the way, could do with a renovation). The blesbokken on the campsite are really nice. Hiking is great (amazing views) but not easy. Lots of steep and stoney slopes to conquer.
Campsite is beautiful but suffers somewhat from the constant noise from the main road, day and night.
Wildcard is not accepted here.

Nice campsite, thoughtfully designed pitches each with little stone enclosures with fire pit. Nice views but very cold at night (July). Ablutions ok...hot water. Lovely reserve, wonderful hiking opportunities. Highly recommend. E100pppn +E30pp entry.
