Description

Nice quirky campsite that offers lots of activities, the owner Harriet is very friendly and helpful, ablutions are ok with hot showers and basic flush toilets, $6 pppn, dinner is ok at 5000 francs, quite a lot of room on grass which is flatish, OK for our truck. Electric at some spots. Can get noisy if a big group is here, about 7km out of town.

We’ve spent a good few days here. Very relaxed. Ablutions fair. Restaurant good. Staff friendly. Price good. One can keep busy exploring the area. Weather lousy at this time and we’re struggling to get our laundry dry after three days. A very nice campsite 4/5 nice art all around and renovations going on.

This is a really funky little place. I enjoyed my stay here. It is a community based project with proceeds going back to the community. I camped here with a ground tent and motorcycle. Ground grassy and level. Lots of shade. You are in a town and not in the nature so yes some noise from around. Night time was quiet. People are extremely friendly and ready to interact. I had a breakfast 3000rwf and it was huge. I paid 7usd or 8000 rwf. Toilets and showers are basic but clean. Hot water has to be turned on. It's a neat little place and worth a visit.

Good campsite with actual flat spots in a nice green area for cars with RTT. 7 USD pppn. Also normal tents for rent available. Toilets basic, hot shower available but did not work when we were there. Community based and many people walk around during the day. They offer a variety of tours done by local people (we did a herbal medicine tour which was nice although a bit overpriced with 40 USD for 90 min). There's a bar and ok restaurant and craftshop. It's a bit of a hippie/young people campsite. In the night it was quiet but as everywhere they start early and indeed the school and mill factory can be noisy during the day. Still recommended for 1 or 2 nights. Not much to do around (although the Dian Fossey museum in Kiniki is highly recommended!)

No handshakes but fist bumps in this place and the compulsory grubby and very small although hot showers. It’s close to a stone saw mill that worked through the night and a bar right next door so the non stop noise was a big let down for me, friendly people though (like everywhere in Rwanda), a small bar and chill area where they light a fire in the evening. The campsite is nice enough, grass, lots of shade, 7USD per person to camp, freaky puppets in the trees. Different activities and an arts and crafts shop with some baskets and usual touristy stuff. The setting is rather odd with a college and its campus across the road and you look out onto their sports grounds offering another sound sensation of screaming students or a basketball bouncing at 6am to the mix. Not my recommendation to stay if you like a good nights rest. The village walking tour was nice but you can walk this alone with maps.me through the fields and the guide did not make it worth the 15USD pp unfortunately.

Wonderful spot, Harriet and her staff are super helpful. Ablutions basic but clean with lovely hot water. The area for vehicle camping has a plug point. Definitely worth a night or two

All info still the same. We paid 6Usd pppn. Wifi is useless way to slow. You need to ask for power to be installed at your site.

Agree with wanderlux comments. Highly recommend the village walk - great guide and we visited the local school too which was great.

A quirky campsite with great lawns for camping. Harriet, the owner and all the staff welcomed us so happily. Harriet lived in the USA since she was 8 but now returned and started up this camp as well as a teaching program for orphaned kids where they learn skills and create crafts for sale. A great place which costs 12 USD for 2 people camping and food and drinks available to buy as well. Basic Hot showers and very interesting place and a huge bonfire at night.

Nice lawn with shade to camp. Good ablutions, clean if not a little rustic. Just $5 a night pp. WiFi was very poor, but otherwise is a good place to layover.

As mentioned, nice place. Big grassy area, nice breakfast, electricity at campsite, water available. Recommended.

The most backpackeresque place we’ve been to in Africa. Ticks all the boxes with graffiti, guests with dreadlocks and weed smoke. Not bad in any way.

Big, flat, shaded camping grounds.

Payed 5 USD per person for camping.

very good place. we paid 5$/pps we are on low Season.

Could be nice, if no overland trucks are there. With groups it is a little bit crowded. Wanted $7ppn, but negotiable was easy.

Everything as stated.
We didn't have water in the showers and after the waterpump was turned on no hot water.

Friendly staff, alright food(RWF4000,- for big dinner). Weird puppets on the campingsite.

USD5,- pppn or RWF8500,- total pn.

Very friendly staff, one of the few places where "supporting the community" actually means something. In addition to what they offer on their website and in their gift shop they've started baking their own bread and they are supporting a local who tries to brew "wine" out of sweet potatoes - anything goes!
5 USD for camping, after a few nights I got upgraded to a room (it started raining) for no additional charge.

You can choose any spot you like on a big grassy campsite. Staff was very friendly. We could use the hot shower in the dormitory house. Toilets clean. Nice place to relax for a couple of days. Though all the puppets around the place are a bit odd. Especially at night.

Good campsite! We stayed here 2 nights and enjoyed the relax vibe. It is like a hippy place, with strange puppets around. But that makes it funny. The staff and peter are so friendly. The wifi was good and the shower hot. There were other tourists so good company at the campfire they make for you in the evening.
$5 pppn

Nice, but odd place. Huge camping area with volleyball court and "nightclub" area, cultural activities, recording studio... the oddest part was that there was almost noone there. Staff were very friendly and dinner was filling. If you are a cyclist, mention that you found them on Warm Showers ;-)

$6 camping on a big, flat, grassy yard. I enjoyed the atmosphere here. The location is a bit far from town. Peter was the most knowledgeable and helpful staff person I've met at campsites in Rwanda for useful travel information.

Camping 6$pppn, dinner 5$, breakfast 3$
Hot showers, fast internet, friendly staff.

Bit of a throw back to the hippy era. Quiet camp. Good for rooftop. Showers can be hot or not. Food good. Staff friendly. Stayed 2 nights.
