PLACE CLOSED
Dirt roads with pullouts right above slaughterhouse canyon. Roads a little bumpy but made it through in my kia optima just fine. Spent 2 nights, my second morning one of the locals called the police and they came out to do a welfare check but said it wasn’t a problem being there as long as I’m not leaving a mess or causing trouble.
You can also drive into the canyon for a more secluded experience.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Private property. Camping is NOT allowed. Owner will charge trespassers.
Report Check-InPrivate property. No camping. No dumping. You are trespassing.
Report Check-InTook the dirt road along the top in our 24' Sprinter. Found a nice spot with beautiful 360° views. Friendly residents came by getting exercise for themselves and their dogs. Strong T-Mobile signal. Some trash, but not any more than I'd expect on vacant land near housing developments.
Report Check-InTo avoid being at people houses' doorstep you can drive down the canyon where there are more secluded spots. Birds in the morning and a few atv passing by without bothering.
Report Check-InUpdate: After 2 days, the police did a wellness check, and all was well. Then on day 4 a gentleman showed up to inform me, that it was private land, and the owner didn't mind 2 nights....mind your manners and keep it clean.
Report Check-InAs described, repeat, turn right onto dirt road on canyon rim. Excellent spot.
Report Check-InNo need to take dirt road into canyon. Use first dirt road at top of canyon across from housing area. There are 4 camping turnouts along the canyon rim with enough room for 4-6 campsites. There are no fire pits. Good cell coverage. Spent the night here with our 26' class C. A little bigger rig could fit.
Report Check-InNice stop over. Lots of trash and dog poop everywhere. Decent cell service, lots of pull outs.

Canyon below is supposedly haunted.
