Description

Huge and quite gravel parking lot near the Abu Simbel temple, which we used to wait to take the ferry next day. For cars and bike with tents. Nice view next to the lake Nasser. +++The police told us we can camp here, however ask again, they will be friendly and there is a police station next to the temple so quite safe.+++ The parking is always empty and really big, we had a nice view on the lake and used it to swim or wash dishes. 2 min. walking to the temple. Also the port with the ferry to the Sudan road is really close. Toilets are close but you have to pay them.

Still the same, just ask the police they are very friendly.

Report Check-In

All the same. Just asked nice police and they showed me where I could pitch my tent for the night.

Great spot close to the temple overlooking Lake Nasser and close to the ports.
Toilets are clean and have warm water. There are two tabs close to the toilets to fill up your water.
Police came by twice to check if everything is ok and wanted to take a picture with us. ;)

Report Check-In

Police said it is okay. It has outlets and cushioned seating in the cafeteria area which is closed after 4. Very nice place

Report Check-In

still ok in October 2019. we could fill our water tank at the coffee shop

Report Check-In

Still good. Toilets were closed and the cafe/kiosk was closed too. But it’s toilet was open.
Got permission to camp here from the tourist police at the entrance.
Lots of street dogs around and they had a big fight.

Report Check-In

Parking lot is paved with asphalt. We asked traffic police and everything is ok. The public toilets were open, even though the guy of coffee shop said it was closed and we could use theirs for a little payment.
Parking lot is guarded by police and camera, so should be safe.

Report Check-In

Still good. Police at the entrance knew exactly what I wanted. Multiple police came to visit as I cooked dinner, all extremely friendly and polite. No worries. Police asked that I leave by 7am. I put the tent down and was making coffee then and they gave me a thumbs up.
Clean flush toilets 100 meters away near cafe.
Backpackers put up their tent on the grass near cafe.

Had a good experience here - take copies of passport or go 5 mins down the road to get them: LE2 per page. Very friendly police, toilets open all night and cafe which opens early nearby.

Report Check-In

Yes free parking is still allowed. Just go to tourist police (left side from the caffe at the parking) and give them a copy of your passports. Police is very friendly

Report Check-In

We sleep here before we entering Sudan. We stopped at the café at the parking place. The touristpolice came immedeately. We have to give a copy of our pasport (the police made it for us) and than it was allright. But in the middle of the night the police came and we have to wake up. They didn’t knew we where there and we have to give a copy of our pasport again. We didn’t do that because it was in the middle of the night. We took our pasport and went to sleep again. Maybe it is beter to go by yourself, instead of a policeman, to the policestation to make sure everything is oké.

Report Check-In

Good spot to spent the night. We also talk with the police at the billing before the parking lot. It is fine by them to sleep here.
