Absolute carnage even for Africa. Streets leading to the ferry terminal used for queuing. Suggest coming in from south as queue was small

buying a ticket is a scrum. Really fierce to get to the counter. Suggest if in a car send 2nd person ahead

Long waits for ferry too. This was Saturday though for me. Perhaps better on a weekday.

heard bad things about it, but cannot confirm. Rejected the guide expressis verbis (!) and got through easily. Paid 1150 D. for the 10.000 Franc CFA, 1 Person plus simple car. Is a bad course, but so what!

Banjul to Barbra

Easy and great experience. 5,000cfa for ferry plus a passenger was 500cfa. Then also 1000 cfa for the luggage in our car. Only had to wait about 30 minutes for ferry to arrive. Efficient and great process and experience.

All foreign vehicles must pay in CFA, it’s more expensive in CFA but that’s how it is! There’s a Bureau change 2 mins walk from the ticket office
Pretty chaotic but really not so bad

Very easy crossing for us from Barra to Banjul. Just buy your tickets at the old weighing bridge (just before town, see Ioverlander)
Took the early ferry around 08:00.

We were charged 10k CFA total for 2 people and 1 high roof MWB 4x4 Merc sprinter.

Despite the new bridge being fully open and 2 ferries working we waited about 4.5 hours at the port - we had been hoping the new bridge would make it better!

Paid 1500 CFA for a motorcycle. Pay before getting on and ticket is asked for when you disembark at other side.

There was an unofficial person (bumster?) who was chatting to the person at gate about letting us through. He then expected money from us for getting us through the gate. After entering the gate, we found other vehicles on the other side of the gate queuing for the ferry. If I went again, I would speak directly to the person controlling the gate.

Get your tickets before in the marked place. Was no problem at all coming from the north side.

Crazy! Arrived at 2pm, huge lines. 2 of 3 ferries were working, one of which was the large new one. Bought tickets, waited. Around 5pm the new ferry broke down. last ferry was around 11pm. We slept in the car, caught the 3rd ferry of the morning. Finally arrived in Banjul with our car at noon. Insane. We learned you could pay to get your car on, but prices seemed to be expensive, we didn't want to pay anything else. There was one hotel that we could see, but looked pretty bad. Lots of mosquitos in the port at night, and a place you would not want to leave your car alone at night.

We drove upcountry as well during our stay and tried 2 other ferries, only to find the same chaos. Maybe just bad luck on our part, but the locals said it was usually like this.

We went through really easy on our motorcycles, took us around half an hour to enter the ferry. Costs are 50 dal each or 1000 cfa. As motorcycle you go on after all foot passengers.
