El Salvador
STUNNING 360 VIEWS, so far my favorite camp in the entire country. Sunrise and sunset are just jaw dropping. Camped night — not a single person or tour bus. Will go back and camp again
High winds are rare but certainly possible.
When I arrived to camp at the cafe (also marked on iOverlander) the gate was locked with no one around so I asked a man walking if I could drive closer to Peñon de Comasagua he said yes the dirt road is the way
Turn down the dirt road (shown on the photo) roughly 100 meters then you go down the hill to a gate at the end — under a mango tree with lock
A man is usually sitting there during business hours — it is $3 to hike or $5 USD per night of camping (solo traveler so I believe it’s 5 per person)
Anyways, you drive up to the right then left, go straight for the big parking lot to camp.
The dirt road has many deep ruts, clearance and 4Lo recommended.
When the path splits to go straight (camping spot) or to the right you can drive around, down, up, around then again down to the stairs that will take you to the very top of Peñon de Comasagua. Maybe 5 minutes up.
The walk up is NOT for bad knees the stairs are steeeeeep and tall.
Dog friendly — trash bins in the parking lot.
Enjoy

it is the same property as the established version of the entry> it is not wild camp if you pay for it idk 5$ pp so we changed it but: Absolutely worth it for the vibes/ view etc
We were not alone at the weekend- bunch of campers around but at night is calm - brace yourself it is „lil“ windy
