Something not right?

Description

Magnificent staying for the night directly at the Ford Very quiet. No infrastructure besides portable toilet box. No-one collected any fee although earlier posts suggest 10$ may apply. From the highway, turn left at the roundabout Colon, shortly after San Lorenzo is signposted.

Latest Check-Ins

Well. It was great until a woman came in the morning and said we shouldn’t be here.

We were 2, travelling together, and both went through 2 security check point to reach here, explained them we were camping on the fort, separately at different time of the day and it was not a problem for all of them.
But this « little captain » was super upset but couldn’t do anything, the security guy we met and explained the case said no problem we were perfectly allowed to sleep here.

We left in the morning, way before the opening.

Except this...
The night was quiet. Tons of hawking monkeys super closed, birds too. The fort is nice, and it was cool to be there alone, only the 8 of us. Kids loved it.
Many mosquitoes. Toilets and water fausset !

We spent a quiet night here next to Howler monkeys, white faced capuchin monkeys and many colored birds. There is a portable toilet open but no water so BYO. Someone who works here came in the morning said we weren't supposed to sleep here although the people from the NAN who let us through the checkpoint 10km ahead on the road to here told us we could stay at the muelle but the path there wasn't as good as the road to the fort from where you can get a tiny bit of signal/ internet (Claro & digicel) so we parked in front of the fort. There is plenty of space and gravel for kids to fool around

No one accepting payment when we drove there. Arrived by Colon ferry and departed through Gatun Locks. Made for an interesting and complete tour of the canal. This fort is beautiful with various beach access points to explore. Found a pit toilet in the bushes, but no other services.

Nobody around to take any fees at the park entrance so we stayed for free. Great wild camp spot. Beautiful sunset. No facilities.
