When we first inquired they asked 1200 le (~80 USD) for a double room. we left but later the manager found us on the street and said we could get a 'single room' for 500 le (~35 USD). It turned out to be a fine room with a double bed so we took it. everything worked (AC, warm shower, TV with many channels). only downside was traffic noise, we were next to the entry gate and all night (saturday night) it was quite noisy.. bring earplugs!

We checked several hotels in the area; this option is by far the best value for money! Certainly when you compare it with Sweet Mother’s Guesthouse, although we were not able to see the cheapest room of them. But already the location of hotel de la joie (right at the beach with a nice cosy restaurant/bar) makes it a better option. All said below is still correct. They also provide wifi nowadays.

Old style hotel. Seaside! Nice beach. Each room is constructed indépendant. A bit old fashioned. Airconditioned, shower, no pool.
Restaurant bar. Prices 60-70 us$.

Hotel with individual separated rooms, constructed like small houses. Clean, a bit outdated, but not bad. Airco, shower, everything works. The restaurant I evaluate as 7/10, nice guys who work there even as the owner and the manager. They like to serve you. I paid 60$ per night for a double room used simple. Breakfast included. Good situation on the lumeley beach road. Nearby a very good Italian owned gelateria and coffee bar opened when I stayed in Freetown. Worth the mony when you like the best icecream and coffee!
