Gambia
In Kemoto, you have a deserted hotel where you are able to park and stay but we stayed at Essa his compound, parked our 4x4 behind his house. There is water in the village but the showers are with buckets. And the toilet is just a hole in the ground. They can offer a room to stay as well. Everything is really simple but you get to know the locals and see and live like a local. We loved it and Essa is truly a genuine guy with good means.
We ate with the family and bought fish for them and gave some money in the end although they dont ask anything. Sometimes there is electricity in the village, in the evening, depending if the village has money to pay for gasoline for the generator.
Many cashew and mango trees. We were really spoiled!!
