Namibia
I went here because site 3 was taken but this is also a great spot! Easily accessible. There are no facilities whatsoever. No guard, one far away and overgrown pit toilets, no water tap, no firewood, no lights, nothing. The isolation and the wildlife make up for that but you should be aware of this and bring your own firewood and supplies.
Camping is indeed free if you pay the ridiculously low entrance fees. Best to book the campsite at arrival instead of just going there at nightfall because it could be already taken.
Campsite 1 is bigger and has a much better view but is very close to the ranger post and can therefore be noisy.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
A very attractive campsite located directly at the river with a good view to the surrounding wildlife. The price for it is NAD250 for 2 pax p.n. including vehicle and including park fees. There are however no facilities here except a very dirty longdrop and there is sometimes a strong smell in the air, depending on the wind direction. However, we found out the smell comes from a nearby elephant carcass. There is good mobile phone reception (MTC).
Report Check-InGorgeous campsite with great view of the river ! Baboons were sleeping in the tree across the river, we also saw crocs and hippos from our camp. Plenty of firewood around. 2 young male lions were roaring nearby, we saw them the next morning, following the roars... Nice little park, very different from Etosha (in a good way)...
Report Check-InNice spot near river. We saw some hippoes and elephants there. During night some animals were there, but trhy do not came close.
There is fire spot.
Beautiful camp sot. River view. Faint music at night. Undisturbed.
Report Check-InNice place to stay, really wild. No problem to book one of the campsites on arrival. Park was ok, lot of Sand. We saw a lot of elephants 😉
Report Check-InWe liked it very much. We heard a lion in the night roaring about 200m next to us. Really loud and scary!
Price still the same. We saw huge groups of elefants in the Park. We looked at C1 and C3 would stay again in C2.
Stated as below. Basic, but if you like wild camping than this is perfect. Prices are still 40N$ pppn and 10N$ per car for entry and if campsites are available it is included. On our way we saw herdes of elephants up to 20 and also herdes of springbok (50) just in front of our car.
Report Check-InEverything still like others described before. At park entree in the South was nobody, so had to drive to the Northern gate to pay park entrance and reservate the campsite. Camp is included in the 50R fee.
Report Check-InI can only confirm what others have written. Beautiful, wild, cheap, everything you want in a wild campsite
Report Check-InBeautiful but basic camp spot right at the river. No amenities. Tranquility pure!
