Description

A trailhead parking lot 3 miles from downtown pocatello and the tasty portneuf valley brewery. Great access to city creek trails but no services. There are no signs saying no camping. Water and bathrooms are two miles down the road in a town park. Spent two nights without hassle but may be a party spot since there is a fire ring very close to the parking lot.

Trailhead to one of Pocotello’s trail systems. The road is mostly paved until the very end, less than a mile. The trailhead is flat, quiet, and there weren’t any signs saying no camping. We parked our 23 foot sprinter van no problem.

Very busy trailhead. Lots of people and dogs. Good for a quick stay.

Small parking lot above the woman’s prison, not quite the most ideal place, but works for an overnight forsure.

Nice overview of the city. A fine spot for a night in transit. Good AT&T coverage.

Place is as described. Drive to the end of Fore Rd which is paced and turn left onto the gravel road. Pass the womens penitentiary and you come to the flat trailhead parking lot. It’s a beautiful view over the town and extremely quiet at night.
Plan for a little hike in the morning if possible. The green hills are very inviting

This is a beautiful spot. Yes, you have to go slow on the washboard road for a little bit, but it’s worth it!

Nice spot where you can spend the night. No signs of “No camping/overnight” so it’s fine.
Beautiful view of the city from the top.
Road is gravel but any 2WD or Van can do it easily.
No amenities.

Amazing place to hunker down for the night. It's close to town, but quiet and above it all. You've got spectacular views of Pocatello.

I fit a 26' class A up there without any problem. I wouldn't do much bigger.

A few things to note:
* There are signs saying that overnight camping is prohibited. It wasn't enforced.
* The last 1/2 mile is dirt washboards, 5mph.
* Mtn bikers and hikers show up in the morning.

Empty gravel lot at the beginning of some trailheads. Beautiful sunset view. Pretty windy. Can confirm a lot of dog poop in the lot. Haha.

Love this spot! Shared with one camper the first night and had it to myself the next! Great mountain bike trails right here. Other cars will show up to use the trails early though! Lots of dog poo in the parking lot too.

Great views! Countless trail options. Small gravel area to park so don't expect major privacy, but still big enough to park a dozen or more cars. There is Verizon 4G here. At 8 am on Tuesday, no one bothered us but about 7 cars showed up for hiking and hiking.
