Edit: watch out for dogs that run in front of cars when passing villages. They are aggressive and the dogs do not stop for car. Go slow! We passed around 4 and all of them ran out in front of us.

Really interesting place. The drive from Namibe took around 4.5 hours. Follow the track on Maps.Me up until -15.939327, 12.888156. Here turn right towards the pin. You reach the bottom of the rocks. We were greeted by people from the village, who asked for a donation to visit. We gave 2000 and were guided to the paintings - very friendly. We also gave a box of fruit. The paintings on the slope are quite damaged (and I suspect are even fewer than the 2019 reviews here suggest). In the cave there are better. The view out is great too. There is a second cave at -15.937866, 12.891821, which is a few minutes drive away. These were the best paintings! Whole experience recommended. The drive here was very beautiful and not difficult, just slow.

Excellent description bij africa-drimslar! Still: there’s so many tracks and its easy to get lost. We eventually parked 600m from the cave at these gps-coordinates: -15.938157, 12.88404

Impressive Place. But a bit difficult to find.

Coming from South (Pediva) you enter the small Village of Capolopopo. There you take the Dirt Track to the right. After some 500 Meters take the left Track and follow it for about 10 km (always follow the Coordinates). You circle around the Mountain and approach it from the North-East Side. As you get near the Mountain you have to take one or two more Turns, just always try to get near the Coordinates. You can almost drive to the Bottom of the Rocks and you will see two big Cave-like Overhangs up in the right Rocks (that's the Coordinates).

The Site consists of two monolithic Mountains. They are connected by a huge rocky Slope. The whole Slope in the Middle is full of Rock Carvings (probably hundreds, mostly the Sun, Planets and Circles) and it's almost impossible not to step on them while you walk up the Hill. Climb up to the Cave-like Overhangs on the right Hill (right as seen from North-East). In the left Cave there are a lot of Paintings, Sun and Circles and some Animals (Coordinates are that Cave). We also found some old Shards there (left them there of course). The second Cave more right is very difficult to reach, we tried it anyway and found no Paintings there. On the left Hill there is also a small Overhang, there are also no Paintings there.

We are not shure how old the Carvings and Paintings are. Some look really old, some new. Our Guidebook (Bradt) suggest that they are up to 20.000 Years old. We believe they are younger and some are probably not old at all but it's a nice and impressive Place anyway!
