Description

Wonderful spot on a secluded beach. Only a few structures. totally safe with a nice left hand beach break a short walk away. Zero other surfers.
The description for this site has been updated in conjunction with the owner

the current setup is 3 individual Cabana's which are fully self contained. We stayed for one night and the room was excellent, clean, bed was great and shower hot. Marcel has some great plans for the whole area and these are slowly coming together..... it is still early days for here. We paid $50 for a night and the Cevesa was $3 per bottle; they have a bar area and food available .

Latest Check-Ins

A real highlight of our trip was staying here. We stayed in the large room with the kitchenette and 3 twin beds for $69 incl breakfast. It was huge and comfortable. Shower was hot.

The property is great, and goes right into the beach. On the beach there are well-maintained palapas with comfortable places to relax. Marcel will also build bonfires on the beach especially on weekends. The bar/restaurant area is super nice (but open air and can be a tad windy - if it’s too much so you can always have room service!). We really enjoyed the tacos and the breakfast.

You can surf right there, but there are better spots a short drive or can ride away and Marcel will happily point you in the right direction or even guide you himself as he did for us.

WiFi was strong and when it stopped working Marcel drove into town to get the company to do a reset. Talk about service! Marcel (from Texas/Colorado) and Jessica (from Ecuador) are just fantastic hosts. We felt warmly welcomed and were sad to leave.

Couple of notes: on booking.com the property is listed as no pets, but just call ahead to get that waived if your dog is cool. Also the place is not set up for camping because there is no bathroom except in the restaurant and no shower except the outdoor surf rinse-off spot. But if you really wanted to make a try for it, especially mid-week when it’s quiet, call Marcel and see if something can be arranged.

Ok, we need to correct some aspects of the original post for Un Dia; we were travelling "two up" on our motorbike and stayed with Marcel (owner) and had a lovely stay. Following the co-ordinates we left Playas and there was only 1km of dirt road (3.8 km from Centro) which was solid, although a little rutted...... it took us 10 minutes from town.... not sure where the one hour quoted comes from. While it has been listed as an Established camp ground, this isnt the case as the current setup is 3 individual Cabana's which are fully self contained. We stayed for one night and the room was excellent, clean, bed was great and shower hot. Marcel has some great plans for the whole area and these are slowly coming together..... it is still early days for here. We paid $50 for a night and the Cevesa was $3 per bottle; they have a bar area and food available . Finding the place was a little difficult as neither our Garmin or Maps. ME showed the correct road in. We followed the coordinates until the road met the ocean and while there are plenty of places to Wild Camp right by the beach at "this" spot we felt more comfortable finding the listed site so continued to look. Approximately 200 mtrs before the end of the road (coming from town, or approximately 1km once the dirt road starts) you take the road to the left, the signpost says Cape Coral ( we actually ended up taking the road that followed the "Powerlines" in..... but they all head in the right direction) and this will bring you to a small number of houses on the beach where Un Dia is the brightly colored Blue house. The area is about 15 mtrs from the beach and nice and quite. The surf here is great with one of the best breaks in SA so well worth the trip if you are a keen surfer or just want some solitude on the beach..... keep in mind its still early days but a great, quite spot to relax. The other Check In/ comment here, we believe should be listed as "Wild Camping" as there are plenty of spots rights on the beach around this area.... just a note!

Amazing spot, one of the best. At the turn of the road, where the road meets the ocean, there are many options: Left above the cliff, right down to the beach near some old structures or straight up a narrow ramp (for small rigs) overlooking the ocean to both sides.

No facilities but truly amazing.

Wonderful spot on a secluded beach. Only a few structures. totally safe with a nice left hand beach break a short walk away. Zero other surfers. The road is a little bit of a slow march due to the ruts but I did it in under an hour. Worth it. Marcel is building out his dream yoga surf retreat. the electric was strong enough to run my A/C. Great sunset!
