Simple but nice camp at an isolated beach catering mostly for sport fishermen, simple and clean ablutions, nice bar/restaurant on top of a hill, friendly South African managers, 12000 Kwanza pppn

This place is a legend and not to be missed out! Theresa is the new manager since Feb. 2024, and she and her team gave us very warm welcome and phantastic stay. We were camping with our truck at Kwanzas 12.000 pppn. The beach was great for swimming (sandy, no rocks, gently sloping).
Report Check-InThe owners have recently taken over management of this camp and are working on renovating and refreshing the place.
Nice camping pitch with large shelter with sink, work surface & benches. Separate toilets and showers. Designed for bigger groups but we had the site to ourselves.
We were made very welcome by the family and staff, it feels very homely. Great drive in and out down the river bed. A visit to the canyons highly recommended. The bay of tigers tour sounds very interesting but you need spring tides to be able to do this tour along the beach at low water.
Report Check-Incampsite has electricity but weak, hot water only if you light the donkey, collect wood/charcoal at bar, if you ask for it, no WiFi at campsite but at the bar it is good. 12000 Kwanza pppn. The managers and staff are friendly and helpful, one feels the facilities are headed downhill despite the best efforts of the staff to do well. As overlanders we were welcomed and felt at home as any other guest.
Report Check-InCurrently they do not accept overlanders. Only organized and booked groups. Easy money. Wait for worst times...
Report Check-InWe have gone to the Flamingo Lodge because they organise trips to San Martinho dos Tigres and the dead acre. It's a magic experience that you can do with your car or reserving a seat on a Flamingo's car. The lodge is remote but it's very beautiful. don't forget to deflate the tyres and use 4x4 to do the way to it, because it's very sandy ( the last 20km).
Report Check-Init's a nice place with a nice welcome. New manager started August with aim of revitalizing this place. Good facilities, buts it's expensive.
They asked 40USD, but negotiated 30USD without use of facilities. Dinner 7,500KZpp. We did not eat here.
This is not a place for Overlanders on a budget.
The 23km route in is corrugated the whole way. Care required last km along beach.
PS. Thinking about it afterwards, 30USD was a waste of good money to park on their beach and with no use of facilities. I wish we had camped at head of canyon for free instead and drank our own beer.
Report Check-InWe didn't camp here, but stopped for lunch. It was 3500 kwanza per person and they served buffet style rice, fries, fish, chicken, beans and salad. It was delicious and well worth it. They also let us take a shower of swimming in the ocean.
Report Check-InGreat place to stay by the see. Basic camping. There are 3 shelter with braai area. Lights and power at night. Hot showers. Good place too clean up. Swim surf and fish.
Report Check-InExcellent spot at a beautiful, isolated beach. Comes highly recommended. Price is still 30$ per person for camping, but definitely worth it. 23km of offroading from the main road through a dry river bed. Very friendly owner, excursions to the region can also be planned from here.
Report Check-InSimple but nice camp at an isolated beach catering mostly for sport fishermen, simple and clean ablutions, nice bar/restaurant on top of a hill, friendly South African managers, 60US$/night (43,80€) for two people which is very steep but they are willing to lower the price for overlanders
