This place cannot be called a camping by any standard: the only thing one gets is a flat space under the trees behind a padlocked gate. No electricity, WIFI, toilets or showers. The restaurant across the (sandy) road is very nice, and the lady there can help you in the farm terrain, and collect your camping fee. the restaurant has a halfway decent toilet and shower, though finding that in total darkness is an adventure. I believe the swimming pool mentioned by some, belongs to the hotel next door...different place, different entry.

I think that the main camp is now closed (there is a lock and chain on the gate). After wandering around a little bit, I found out there is another part of it just by the beach, marked mainly as a restaurant. Lady there told us we can pitch a tent for 5.000 pppn.

In the evening, we got some beers and a pizza (I don't remember the prices anymore). The owner came as well and had a chat with us. Not as terrible as described :)

We parked our car outside the entrance to the camp under a tree that has a sign saying something about lemons (my french is not good enough to figure out what it is). Definitely not big rig friendly though.

I dont know if the place changed a lot in the past few years but seeing the last reviews for the place we really were expecting a much shittier experience. The toilet was clean, there is a restaurant (dont expect a one star michelin experience), and the place where you can park your rig is quite nice, surrounded by trees and animals. No mosquitos when we where there, wich is quite rare in Sénégal. Jean-Paul is definetly an uncommun character, a really nice guy, and yes he has a baboon in a cage and other animals in captivity like a crocodile. The dude is 74 years, leaved 50 years in Africa, so give him a break. His main problem is that he wont shut up so if he wants to have a tchat with you... good luck to end it.
5000 Francs for a rig and 2 people. A nice place to stay for a day or 2.

even if Saly with its bars hotels and euopean tourism infrastructure is not the typical place to stay for an Overlander the good infrastructure of Saly Mbour can be reason enough to stay here for a gew days. If you stay here ferme de Saly is the best place you can go to. jean paul ist one of the best hosts we met in Africa and helos with a lot of information, knowhow and 40 years Africa experiences. If you stay there dont miss to have a talk with him and dont try to pet the Python. 5000 cfa per night for van and a couplr at the ferme. 10000 cfa for a basic room with moustiquair pied a l eau, luxury version at Amazones apartments with pool and sea viee for i dont kniw how much

5000 CFA per Night and Caravan

The toilet here could easily be eligible for a UNESCO World Heritage listing given its age, history and rare wildlife but the place itself is relaxed and friendly, and the food is great. 5,000 for a site (too much) with the bike.

toilet and shower facilities are completely run down, although this isn't an issue if you use the toilet by the pool and have your own bucket shower in the evening. chained baboon is still there...as are the verve monkeys, crocodile, horses, chickens etc. unfortunately the way the animals are kept chained up is upsetting and cruel. The swimming pool is absolutely stunning and the pizzas in the little run down restaurants that by the beach are absolutely amazing. French owner Jean-Paul is a very interesting character and we'll worth spending some time chatting to him. cost per pitch was cfa 5000 per night
