Network of forest roads as described. We stayed in the base of the quarry on a Sunday night thinking the gun range thing would only be in the weekends. Sure enough, we were woken by gunshots at 6:20 am. Not rapid like target practice or sparse like hunting, maybe someone sighting in a rifle. Don’t think it’s in this pit since we can’t see them.

Also saw the makings of a brush fire on the way in. I tried to put it out before calling the rangers but it was deep into the root structure. Great illustration to the kids for how fires can travel unnoticed in this dry season, but also a little unnerving.

Great spot, easy access, fire pit and fire wood. Some noise from people shooting at quarry close by but stopped late afternoon. Could fit a couple of smaller vehicles easily.

The shooting that was mentioned in another review is because there is a gravel pit just east of the pin location. When we got there, there were builldozers actively working in the gravel pit so we took one of the forest service roads south and stayed at another nearby location that was quieter.

We did walk many of the forest service roads in the area and we noticed that there are ticks around, so watch your pets and socks.

This seems to be a shooting range! People shot their weapons till the sun was down and started again at 6.am (were here on a weekend), the night was quiet. If you love weapons 🙈 this is the place to be! If not you better watch for another place! ;) Take care!

no on else around and very quiet. quick drive to Bend but not as clse as the forest riads up skyliner drive.

Cell service, dirt road. No services no water. About a 20 minute drive from down town bend.

Lots of sun to charge solar panels. Quiet with a bit of noise from freeway
