Djibouti Port Customs | Customs and Immigration

This is the last process of clearing your car - when shipping in a container.

The steps:
1: clear container from shipping agent - Maersk etc.
2: go to port office to clear the container from the port to the destuffing area.
3: go to this place to clear the car from the container.

We tried with several fixers and through different organisations. They didn’t acknowledge our Carnet and new laws state cars older than 8 years are no longer allowed to be imported. Long story short: they didn’t allow us to drive in Djibouti, we only got permission to drive from the port straight to the Ethiopian border.

Get your container/car cleared here. You can take a minibus from downtown to get here or a cab. Avoid the main gate since they will likely not let you in. The door to customs is just before the main gate on the left (signposted "douanes")
