Looked beautiful, but it’s really very, very far away from everything, so you have to rely on the owner for even basics like drinking water. Not even a small shop around to buy snacks. So when on a motorbike or bicycle and not with a car, come prepared or stay somewhere in town. We didn’t stay for that exact reason despite everything looked pretty.

This campsite offers plenty of space. the view of the beach, sea and fishing boats is relaxing. They come back with their catch from around 4 p.m. It's only a few hundred meters to walk along the beach and it's really worth seeing. The toilet and shower are tidy and only accessible to guests. There's actually no electricity, but we filled up with water from the public shower. The night costs 500 MRA for 2 people. Unfortunately there are no shops nearby. You can eat well in the restaurant, but one portion didn't fill us up. We were here 7 weeks ago on the way south.

A small Paradis to be, each time am crossing mauritanie I have to stop here, whatever you can need for your machine just ask ( Hadj the boss) he can help you out to find solutions…the food is perfect 👍, super teamwork. Peaceful place, to the fish market it s a beautiful walk beachside… amazing 🙏🏽.

We had a great stay. The owner of the site gave us a lift downtown and told us about the ins and outs of Mauretanie. It’s not realy a campsite, you park on gravel on a parking or common area. You’ll get a key for sanitary which can be used by campers only. The beach is a bit dirty…horses, camels, dogs and humans! Tough, the warm water is refreshing after a hot day in town or desert. Recommended!

They allowed us to camp in our car for free. Just they ask us to eat at the restaurant. We did that. It's a beat noisy and the beach was still very dirty but friendly staff and toilets/ shower very clean !

Peaceful place near the beach outside of town. We didn't see any sign outside but it's right next to Hotel Sabah.

We arrived on Sunday and it was packed with people spending the day out with their families. By Monday we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Huts without bathroom for 700UM. Mattresses on the floor and no blankets or towels. Fairly clean and there is an outlet.

There are other options for rooms with bathroom and Aircon but they were taken when we arrived. The hut might be too warm in summer.

The bathrooms are by far the best we had in Mauritania. Super clean and well maintained. The toilet flushes properly and there is plenty of paper and soap. The showers get so hot you have to be careful to not get burnt and the pressure is great.

The food at the restaurant is excellent and good value. Grilled fish, chicken, salads, etc.

There's plenty of parking.

Wifi is decent enough for checking emails, social media, etc but wouldn't rely on it for streaming or large downloads.

Yeah, like what others have said, there is a lot of rubbish on the beach but if you go at low tide you can walk on the shore without any problems.

This is the best place to be in Nouakchott. Directly on the sea with restaurant. Small round huts for rent and large grounds for campers. Water, bathroom with showers, lavabo and toilets. The place is quietly located, about ten minutes to the city center.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. The owner can help with almost any problem, knows authorities and speaks perfect English, French and Hassania. If he has time you can also discuss and philosophize.
Hadj knows a lot of stories about the country.
The place is clean and they plant trees for the future.

We could stay there for free during the Corona crisis, getting fresh bread and informations daily! Which was more than just generous.
It's like a big family, you feel good there

We stayed at this place for a long time. The owner is so friendly and hospitable, he and his staff really take care! They also take care of the beach which is very clean. The showers are brand new.

perfect campsite with beautiful beach access, clean toilets, showers, all as described before. quite a lot of flies in the morning and some mosquitos at night. beach is very popular with locals in the evening but usually the campsite empties at night. don't be afraid of navigating slowly through the masses.

Haj is a great host. nice location to chill by the beach. Good restaurant. Wifi is typical for Africa. Camping is 500 for 2 (€12.50), or rooms for €30. Hot water showers.

Haj is super friendly, offered us a hat for the same price as camping. Wanted to stay one night and finish some repairs next day, but was Sunday, so we stayed two days, but just had to pay one night, cause Haj suggested as to stay until Monday. Incredible. Took me to a friendly and good mechanic on Monday.
Restaurant is great, maybe a but expensive compared to Rest auf Mauritania but what you get is class food. Internet in the restaurant really slow. Wonderful place though.

All of the below - definitely recommend this place. It is not a real campsite though but you can definetly parc up. The staff is really friendly and the owner Hadj is a real hero helping us out with spare parts, insurance and lots of other things.
I do disagree with the ‚good security, comment; the site is accessable both from the beach as the road and there are a lot of people going in and out to the restaurant. But, great place.

Driving north,
Stayed one night. As it was ramadan all facilities where closed but the owner let me camp for free.
As I have a rooftop tent I camped next to Restaurant which was leas wind but until about 3am ppl where coming to the beach and eating their food so was rather noisy. Overall I guess very nice and Owner very friendly.
Walk to the fish market which is about 400m down the beach. A must if ur in the area

As the others said, great place! Was offered a 1000MRU room for 700MRU because they were out of the cheaper ones. Next morning, I discovered I had a flat and they took my wheel to a shop and brought it back fixed in no-time.

If you go to Mauritania don't miss this place! Beautiful place at the beach with amazing staff. Clean western toilets and warm showers(!!). The owner, Haj, is extremely kind! Our car was just before breaking down and without him we would have been stuck for a long time. He showed us where to buy parts, and when the guys couldn't find the parts he made them pop the hood open and find everything we needed, and after that he showed us a super cheap mechanic to replace the parts.
Also the staff gave us tea for free like 3 times a day!
Just amazing hospitality.

Make sure to try the restaurant too! We didn't even have that good food in Morocco. There is a local fish market if you walk down the beach on the left, so you can buy fresh fish of your choice and they'll prepare it for you at the restaurant. Cool experience and amazingly good.

WiFi is good enough for whatsapp and emails.

Terjt is an old school Overlanders place with plenty of overlanders coming through. Before the new road was built it was right on the way South. Hajs Mum started it, and hes taking over now she is older. The road is tarmac untik the gate, few hundred meters of piste to the camping. Don't follow map's me as it'll take you off road (or do if you like that!). The road that runs North to South just outside the gate connects in with plenty of good tarmac, previous posters likely came on the road west to east which is opposite the gate. That's a piste, its an ok piste though

My positive experience with Terjit is hard to fit into this section. So as briefly as i can i explain

My motos suspension completely failed heading north. Once i got the bike to Terjit (although I sent Haj a WhatsApp and he offered to send his staff and a pickup). Haj was incredible. Taking serious time away from his businesses and family to help me. I was his priority! Nothing was too much trouble. He took me round town for parts and mechanic. When this was unsuccessful (BMW Dakar). He helped arrange locations to ship it to. Whilst waiting for the part he let me hang out, showing me the town, seeing a different side to Mauritania. Much like a previous poster, radically changing my opinion of the country. He took me to the supermarket, brought me a baguette each morning. I've genuinely never experienced hospitality like i did. Then charged me way too little!

On the accommodation itself. The place is great. Camping can be out of the wind if you're smart. Toilets look like the should be in a Western shopping mall (see photos). Shower has hot water. Restaurant is good and fair priced. They have a new chef starting shortly from Morocco and a new kitchen to match so even more improvements to follow

There is cable sports in the restaurant on a big screen if you are missing that

I took a room which was nice. Good sized and like a traditional Mauritanian salon. So you make the room into a twin if you wanted.

Haj is continually improving the place and his time in the states shows in the service he wants to offer.

I'd never consider staying anywhere else in Nouakchott. This is as highly recommended a place as I can think of

I would highly recommend going to this campsite.

It is located near the beach. Super clean toilet and showerfacilities! Tip: take a shower in the afternoon. It is most likely that you will have a warm shower then.

There is a restaurant located next to the campsite on the beach. The restaurant has very nice food.

Friendly and helpfull staff. The owner is happy to help you with anything. He drove us around town and pointed out some really nice restaurants for us and told us a lot about the city. He also made sure we were provided with a fresh baguette every morning.

There is no WiFi on the spot, but you can use the free WiFi from the owner's office about 1km from the campsite.

This place is the best. We paid €12,50 per night, two persons and a 4WD.

Sand camping for 2,500 og pp/pn or we took up a concrete room for 7,000 og on which was cool during the day and sheltered. Bathrooms are a work in progress. The Ladies is all remodelled but no shower yet (have to use the one in the Mens).

Great place with very friendly people. Facilities are very good for a reasonable price. Maybe not for the cheap Charly guys living from a Dollar a day. Enough space for trucks and Caravans, even with the view on the sea. Any problem, these guys will solve it, be sure.

Simply the best place to stay for an Overlander. I planned to stay there for 2 days and ended up almost spending a great week there. Extremely friendly owner with perfect English who even helped me to find spare parts and gave me a little tour around the city. The restaurant is great, the rooms are clean and it's right at the seaside. I was camping and got a key to a bungalow to use the bathroom there (clean, hot shower, western toilet). All in all just perfect.

Don't go to the other campsite shown next door...they have no real facilities and couldn't offer us a toilet if camping. The owner here is Haj, a Mauritanian educated in the states and speaks great English. Toilets, showers and bar & restaurant right on the beach, as is the camping. security is good. very friendly, helpful staff. we were a little unsure of camping in Noukchat before we arrived, but definitely landed on our feet finding this place. Price is 2,500pp per night. highly recommend this place.

We guess it was an Hotel some years ago, with a pool. Pool and Hotel are out of order.

But now there are some Bungalow style huts for rent.

For a small fee they will let you camp there, use one of the toilet/shower of a Bungalow for a small fee. They are "ok".

The fishers will detect that there are travelers, and offer you the catch of the day, help you too to prepare the fish.

It is a pretty huge area with an guards, you will find a spot with enough privacy.

A restaurant is there too and a pretty nice beach.

A good place to stay for repairs, for visiting the city and enjoy fresh fish & beach.

We got a new Frontscreen at Nouakchott at the black market mounted in 3.5 hours, after Toyota told us they need 60 days for shipping a new one, and 45 days for flying in a spare...
