Description

Amazing! Beautiful, well managed, well trained staff with good facilities. Campsite at the back under big shady trees. Good clean ablutions. Stand pipe, braai, table. Restaurant and bar.
Worth the detour- their motto is "come as a guest, leave as a friend", and it's true. 4 large shaded sites and great abolitions. Lots of water and boat activities, great beach. Chris and Louis are fantastic owners and hosts. No power at sites. WiFi is... it's Africa. Great food. Plan to stay a couple of days.

All comments below are correct; absolutely fantastic place, campsite will all facilities you need, great shower, clean toilet good sink and dishwashing facilities. We had no issues with uneven ground on campsite nr 1. Beautiful lodge, lovely to swim and chill. Staff is perfect. Chris and Louise were away when we were there, but Oli and Jemma were both more than great. Jemma cooks and bakes such tasty food. We had a birthday, and Jemma made one of the best chocolate cakes we've ever had. Sunset cruise was also very nice. Just two downsides; it's expensive, $60 per night for us as a family of 4, and when we were there (March, must have been the time of year), we had many, many, many mosquitos. It was so bad that we could barely stay at the campsite, but at the lodge on the water side it's better, probably due to the wind. All in all, wonderful stay.

Report Check-In

Only four sites eaxh with a magnificent mango tree for shade. Tap, braai, wash line and picnic table and bench per site. Ablutions clean and good hot water. Fabulous setting with the best helpful staff. Gemma is a great chef - food delicious. Sunset cruise memorable. Highly recommend unwinding for a few days, beach, swimming, and listening to cool music on lake edge withcold drinks! Heaven

Still beautiful and friendly. Camping 20$/pppn ..absolutely worth it

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, everybody very friendly and helpful.

Report Check-In

Beautiful location, staff incredibly friendly and helpful.
Ablutions were clean and showers were warm and powerful.
Lots of activities available (smirking was very good @ 40 USD PP)
Campsites are slightly uneven and there are some flies in mango season but overall this is a must visit and worth the 60km drive off the main road
Workshop available @ 25 USD an hour for major repairs

Report Check-In

Beautiful place! The best views on the lake, lots of activities to do, delicious food and very friendly owners.

Report Check-In

This is a very nice place that you should definitely visit if you are in the area. Unfortunately, the campsites are all very uneven.

Report Check-In

We’re still here but I have to say this is paradise! If you’re in the area or driving along the lake this should be your next stop!

Report Check-In

Great spot to put your feet up for a few days. Camping behind the lodge under trees. $15pppn. Lovely beach to relax and swim. Bar and restaurant. Clean ablutions with solar hot water. Wash up area for laundry and dishes. Braai stand and wood.

Report Check-In

A very good campsite with spotless ablutions. Plenty of shade under large trees and running water at sites. A good restaurant and bar. Very welcoming staff. It is a stiff 60 km from the main road on a dirt track, but worth it for a couple of nights relaxation. If you ask nicely the bar staff will turn off the elevator music.

Report Check-In

Beautiful location on Lake Tanganyika, set in a lovely and scenic bay. Campsites are just okay - quite dusty but well shaded. Not super flat. Ablution blocks are great.

Nice spaces around the resort to relax and enjoy the scenery. Activities are very expensive (i.e., $15 per person for a kayak) and whilst there's no pressure to join in, it does feel like participating is expected.

A bit of a club med feeling, but would still definitely recommend.

Report Check-In

As described; loved it! They appreciate if you announce breakfast, lunch, dinner in advance as ingredients aren’t available around the corner. But when we didn’t at first, they still served amazing dishes. Top notch!

Report Check-In

You will not want to leave this place. Idyllic, paradise from the attention to details, the magnificent views of the lake.
Louise, Chris and staff cannot do enough to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Camp sites have all the amenities needed, shaded and with solar panels to back up batteries. Bandas are comfortable a few meters from the shore line. If you decide to treat yourself to the three course meal, it’s superb. A great treat from rustic camping.

Report Check-In

Great hosts Chris and Lou
Great spot
Amazing sundowners on verandah with an ice cold beer watching sunset over DRC
Loved the vibe and played golf on 6 hole pitch and putt, Spa relaxing, yoga extremely good, kayaking around the bay fun
Would thoroughly recommend this little spot for a few days to appreciate all that can be fitted in

Report Check-In

If we had to be fussy and pick something, we'd say the campsites aren't the most level in the world but a couple of very flat spots and the rest not too bad. Otherwise, its an expensive place especially if you have food/drinks/activities but it's really amazing. Chris and Louise are the perfect hosts and the staff are all wonderful. Everything is as described. Great food, beautiful areas to relax and recharge, great activity options and snorkelling, Kayaking, swimming etc. Free golf! Fantastic bathrooms and sinks for washing up. We connected our car to the solar but there wasn't a lot of sun.
You absolutely won't regret coming here.

Report Check-In

What a great place, everything as described below. Don't miss out to come here! There is probably no better place at Lake Tanganyika.

Report Check-In

We stayed at this beautiful Lodge and campsite for 4 wonderful, relaxing nights. Chris, Louise and Thomas and all the staff are so welcoming and friendly and have created this fabulous oasis on the shore of Lake Tangynika. The camp sites are large with water tap, bbq, lots of shade and lovely outlooks, the bathrooms are quite simply the best I have experienced in Africa. We spent our day's swimming, relaxing, fishing, hiking and basically recharging and planning the next step of our journey! but there are so many activities you can enjoy, canoeing, sunset cruises, diving, snorkeling, a round of golf (par 3). The restaurant and bar area also serves great food and is a perfect place for a sundowner. We were also able to buy fresh vegetables, fruit and rice from the local village. 15 USD pppn. Just to add the road down ro the lake is approx 62kms but an easy drive and well maintained.

Report Check-In

Absolutely stunning place right on the beach. So tranquil and relaxing

Report Check-In

Nicely done lodge with Chalets on the beach. Plenty of activities available that should cater for most travelers. The campsites are located behind the chalets under large mango trees. There are 4 campsites available and each can take maybe 3 cars max. Nice flat area that is free of thorns. Each campsite has a tap with lake water and they’ve recently added solar panels for each campsite.
To use the panel, just connect the positive and negative terminals to your battery. You can expect about 3-4 amps in full sun. Paid 15usd pppn for camping. The dinner is a fixed menu at 25usd pp for a 3 course meal. Well worth it.
Nice ablutions with hot water and good pressure. Friendly hosts also. Good Vodacom network and free wifi at the restaurant

Report Check-In

Really beautiful.
Delicious food. Amazing hosts. Great staff.
$15 pppn to camp.
$25 dinner. $20 breakfast. $15 light lunch.
All sorts of activities too.

Report Check-In

Awesome location. From tar road it takes you 64km on gravel road. Camping is expensive but you get European standard ablution with hot showers and service. Breakfast is $15 per person, lunch is 15$ per person and dinner $25. Food was high quality. They also offer massage. No power at the sites but water is provided. Worth visiting but if you are a budget traveler rather skip it.

Report Check-In

As awesome as described below. They now have solar panels and controller at the campsite to charge your battery. Price is $ 15,- pppn which includes free kayaking, snorkeling gear and mountain biking. Big rig friendly. Probably the best place in the whole of Tanzania 🇹🇿

Report Check-In

Beautiful place on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Spotless clean ablutions with great hot water showers. From campsite 4 there’s a little view to the lake. $15/pppn. Spacey campsite, RTT fits under big trees. Road here is pretty corrugated but worth the visit. Owners Chris and his wife are very helpful and friendly (originally from South Africa). They also have a small workshop and their mechanic Frankie fixed our brakes (yes, brakes!) which failed on the way to the lodge. Food was good, too. $25/pp for a 3 course dinner. Friendly staff and 3 dogs live at the site, too, especially Jameson is a very friendly boy!

Report Check-In

Great place on the edge of the lake with good views. Campsites are decent, but nothing to write home about, they're at the back with the chalets and bandas having some view of the lake (makes sense though). Hot showers weren't working too well, but I notified Chris so i think he'll sort that out.
We really enjoyed our stay. As mentioned Chris and Louise are really personable and definitely a big part of the success of the place. The lodge is great, and we enjoyed sitting out front with a beer in the evening etc...
Chris has a pretty comprehensive workshop and helped me out with some bits and pieces I needed for a repair on the vehicle.

Report Check-In

A bit of a drive to get here as the 60km took 2 hours as roadworks slow you down for some parts, but it is indeed nice by European standards, the owners are South Africans, very friendly as mentioned. It is more of a ‘club med’ kinda resort and it was booked out with a big group of older South Africans, but I could park in the large garden for a reduced rate which was perfect actually, nice and quiet. They have a small golf course, quad bikes, boats, fishing trips, massages, it is quite a holiday location for such remoteness, proper tourist setup and prices to go with it. The beach is no more and some accommodation has flooded due to the high water levels of the lake unfortunately. Dinner at 25USD was worth it for a treat...

Report Check-In

We stayed for a week at this beautiful campsite at lake Tanganyika. Spacious campsites with good facilities. Very friendly owners Chris and Louise who take take very good care of there guest! Because we were both not feeling well Louise offered us one of the Banda's so we could sleep in a normal bed! The staff is very helpful and friendly and the restaurant is recommended. They bake there own bread, that you can also order to take to the campsite.
Specially the view from the outdoor terrace is great! We joined Louise on a yoga session and also did a short walk up to the mission from where you have a good view over the lake and we did some kayaking (early morning or late afternoon because of the wind.)
If you want to treat yourself: take a massage in the spa on the beach, very good!

We can highly recommend this place!

Report Check-In

This was a great treat and stay! Impeccable service by the staff, the hosts were flexible to allow us to cater for our own meals while utilising a banda. A wide range of activities are available for all types of adventure seekers!

Close until February 2020, but "Brother Anton" is a good alternative

Amazing place!!! Soooo friendly and warm-hearted.
Definitely worth!!! Louise and Chris are so helpful persons and the staff is absolutely great and so kind.
We stayed at the Campsite, very clean ablutions. Each campsite has water, a bench, braai facilities and even a washing line.
Fantastic!!!

Report Check-In

The lodge is beautifully done, right on the beach, listening to the lapping waves.
You can easily spend a few days here soaking up the sun, snorkelling and sitting on the beach swinging chairs.
We camped whilst here for $14pppn. The toilet and shower block are clean and nicely done, with hot water. We parked under two large mangos trees. You can’t see the lake from where you camp as the Bandas block the view. However the lodge bar/ restaurant is so gorgeous you would rather sit there all day anyways.
Definitely worth the 64km on the good dirt track to get there.

Report Check-In

one of the most beautiful places in Uganda and may be also in southern Africa. Fabulous restaurant. Louis and Chris designed every piece, every sight with a sense of African feeling.
from US$ 14ppn at the campground to US$ 230 for the chalet in low season you may choose any kind of luxury
Dinner US$ 25pp

Report Check-In

Great spot to relax after a couple big days driving down from Rwanda. Fantastic hosts Louise/Chris and the friendly dogs and ducks. Off the beaten track (last bit of rocky road not so bad) so come fully stocked. Campsite 4 with picnic bench, braai, tap and the rest of the grounds to ourselves during off-season. Shower water not hot but not an issue. No wifi but caught up on reading and views. Tasty 3-course dinner available at $25pp and we saw good looking breakfast menus but skipped it. Lots of activities available and spa treatments too.

Report Check-In

We were really looking forward to staying at this place. Just reached the gate (last 1,5 km is though) and were told that it is closed until March. bummer. we don't know the precise date that they will open so please call ahead.

Report Check-In

An amazing lodge and campsite, one of the best in Africa! Chris and Louise are great hosts, really welcoming, and made our stay really enjoyable.

Camping is 14 USD pppn under massive mango trees, our big rig fit into camp 1 fine. Site wasn't very level but didn't bother us. Ablutions are good and very well maintained.

The beach lodge is great, you can leave your gadgets to charge there or use them as you charge. WiFi is free and by mobile hotspot but Vodacom signal is great if you bring your own too. Coffee is amazing, bar/beach area very relaxing and great vibe.

We celebrated a birthday there and the food was incredible as was the wine and subsequent drinks. Great to chat to Chris and Louise too. Not cheap but wholly recommend!

Best campsite in whole Tanzania. A must-stop in any western self-drive route. Large shady site with table and brai. everything is clean and tidy. staff nice and helpful. wonderful food at the lodge restaurant on the beach. many activities. campers really friendly welcomed. we also left with homemade bread and humus.

Report Check-In

100% recommended! Paradise environment, extraordinary hosts, great camping ablutions (14$ pppn, but worth it!)

There is nothing in Kipili village so bring: SIM card with data for internet (no reliable WiFi at the lodge), food (expect to stay at least 3-4 days-I stayed a week), enough fuel (no fuel until Mpanda or Sumbawanga-unless you go to Kirando).

If you camp and cook, I would totally recommend this place! Definitely worth a detour. (Expect to pay hundreds of dollars if you take a room, eat in the restaurant and/or do water sports or other activities).
