Talked to the neighbor, who mentioned this place is no longer being run as a lodge. The cabins have been empty for a couple years now.

Excellent place! The best place we’ve stayed on lake Malawi (even compared to the places at Cape Maclear). Camping right on the beach facing the lake with beautiful mountains on your left. Ablutions are the cleanest we have seen in months! Eco pit toilet which doesn’t smell at all and is spotlessly clean. Hot showers with good water pressure. The staff are very thoughtful and provide a great service. They set up a fire for us with their own firewood and put out two chairs even though we were the only guests. They also brought us a lantern when it got dark. All of this without being prompted or asked. Highly, highly recommended. Camping costs US$12 pppn - definitely worth it for the quality service and high standard of ablutions. There is also a bar and restaurant onsite and a lovely deck on the beach with chairs to relax on.

Beautiful campsite on the lake with view of the mountains. Nice food and bar. Friendly staff. Clean ablutions and shower with pit loo. WiFi now available. The road is still under construction but the old back road through the villages is actually a very nice little detour.

well organised campsite. showers warm and ablutions are clean. staff told us that we could hike to the waterfall, but when were just about to leave the next morning the same staff member said it costs money and he knew someone who could take us. it would have cost us 20 USD per person for the guide and 5000 shillings village fees. (can also get guids in the village for cheaper)

Lovely campsite!! Beautifully maintained part of the beach, you can swim in the lake or do plenty of activities (for a fee). Hot and powerful shower, very pleasant compost toilets, and nice restaurant hut/bar and outdoor seating area. The food was good. Camping is $9pp. Love love loved it.

NOTE: closed from 18 February to 30 March! They put up a sign stating this only 1 km from the campsite. :-(
Stayed at the Matema lake shore resort instead.

Still the best place to stay in one of the most picturesque spots in Africa...come here while it's still a peaceful spot at the end of 50km of rough tracks as there's a Chinese road being built. Excellent food, great staff, and best bananas I've tasted in the village.
