Convenient that this campsite has a mechanic and storage service but would not recommend for camping only. Small campsite so little privacy, very close to a township, ablutions had its best days, many many flies/ mosquitos.

It is our first stop after landing in cape town. It was a little bit late and we had not enouph time to buy food in a grocery. Eli and Duncan, the owner of the campsite, drove with us to a restaurant: Our problem was solved immediately. Like the other visitors told are both very friendly and helpful. It is a good place to stay the first two or three days to prepare the motorhome for a travel around southern Africa

Blown away by the help and support we have received here.
We had a myriad of upgrades/repairs done. Many different disciplines involved and all delivered exceptionally well and at a reasonable cost.
I can’t recommend these guys enough.
Best bit is, whilst the works being done you can take a long walk to several vineyards so you can sit and drink wine whilst your vehicle is repaired.

Duncan is a legend! No more words needed. Reliable, trustful, and friendly.

Dani is a great mechanic to help you out with issues. He replaced my clutch, crankshaft main seal, sump gasket for my Defender TD5. Took a little more than 2 days, so that's fine.

He did also some other small things. He can do everything. Want a roof rack, he makes it!
R300 per hour, so fair price. All the stores to buy your parts are some km's away. Very convenient and you can't get your parts cheaper than buying it yourself.

We shipped our toyota from rotterdam to capetown with Duncan. African Overlanders is perfect partner for all your needs:

Ellie and Duncan are very friendly hosts. The mecanic Dany has a lot of experience especially for toyota vehicles.
We really enjoyed our stay on the farm.

Perfect location to meet other overlanders. Wifi available but a bit slow. The place itself is lovely. The hosts are very nice. There is a township nearby but we felt secure. We would suggest to drive to the location from the south if it’s already getting dark. If you drive via the northern route you’ll have to pass the township. During the day it isn’t an issue though.

We stayed at this campsite for two nights and paid 300 for 2 ppl + car. Nice spot close to Stellenbosch and Cape Town. Duncan and his wife Eli are very friendly and knowledgeable. Free wifi, hot shower and clean abblutions. Nice pitstop.

We shipped our bikes with Duncan from Rotterdam to Cape Town. The process went very smooth. We stayed at Duncan’s campground for a week. Together with the other overlanders preparing their trips it was easy to get in the travel mood. Great place to start the journey up north!

Stayed there to prepare the car. Nice campsite and good Wi-fi. Location is perfect to go to stellenbosch or to get parts for the car in bellville.
The owners are very helpful and the mechanic takes time to explain certain things on the car

Quiet parking unter trees on the yard of African Overlanders with space for ca 10 campers. For 100 Rand p.P. you get 3 showers and 3 toilets, kitchen, potable water and Wifi. They also offer storage for your camper (400 Rand per month, 600 Rand shaded with max height 3 m)

Duncan helped shipping our trailer from SA to NL and he did a FANTASTIC job. It wasn’t easy during COVID19 but he managed to work it out smooth.

Very friendly owners Duncan and Elli. They have alpacas and other animals. We stayed for three nights and were allowed to empty and clean our composting toilet. Good place to meet other overlanders.

We stay here for a couple of nights, basic but good campsite, hot showers, social area and Duncan the owner is very friendly.
We left our sold truck there for the next person to pick up, and left Duncan with all the paper work. We had no problems, super knowledgeable and friendly guy. Nice rural campsite close(ish) to the city.

**_ Shipping Cape Town to Montevideo _**

Just to be sure, that nobody miss this beautiful oppertunity.

We have a 40 ft container, with 2 overland bikes, 1 overland vehicle.
We are looking for the last passenger, -> one overland vehicle/car.
This is a great oppertunity because this would be the cheapest option to ship your car, because we share a big container.

Does somebody have plans to ship their car from Cape Town to Montevideo?

We shipped with Duncan to Rotterdam, which is a smooth and easy process. Just drop off the car and papers and Duncan will arrange everything else. He is friendly but easily offended and rude when you challenge him on money. We just asked him what the additional costs were for compared to other shipping companies.

We were very disappointed with Gary the mechanic. We had an appointment with him to check out the car and make a quote but he did not write down anything only saying it will be fine “don’t worry, just relax”. We were not so sure about that so we gave him a list of jobs ourselves. He was not able to provide a quote when we were there so we tried to arrange it via mail but he was quoting us wrong jobs so in the end we only wanted him to carry out the correct jobs quoted. Then he refused to do it (apparently a couple of hundred euros was not good enough) so we contacted Duncan for some help but he replied with “we don’t refuse jobs, we refuse people”. Wauw...so rude. So we only shipped and did not let Gary touch our car.

Prices still 100pp. Everything else still the same. If you technical problems on your way through Africa and the other mecanics before were a disapointment (which is usually the case) that this is the place to go. Gary and his teammates are really skilled and everything to a reasonable price (while others quite often made only a "semi professional" job for a lot of money). With his new collegue Danie there is another eccellent mecanic who worked also with trucks.

Happy to see that although they changed their location (closer to Cape Town), Ducan and Eli haven’t changed a bit: cheerful and welcoming as ever. Hot showers and the social space is wel equiped and nicely decorated. Trees provide shadow. Mechanic Gary is doing a great job and for a very reasonable price. 100R pp. pn.

Nice place for overlanders thanks to Duncan & Ellie! We stayed three nights in a nice Rondavel whit an outdoor toilet and shower. We shipped our car from Belgium to Cape Town trough Duncan and he will ship our car back in five months when our trip ends. There is also a mechanic working on the farm so if you have problems with the car they sort it out in a glimp!

Nice and relaxed place to meet other overlanders. Lovely braii area and we also liked the kitchen/ social area. Although we arrived late after 8 pm Duncan gave us a heartily warm welcome and showed us around. Free wifi and warm showers! All construction work seem to be finished

Quite Campsite on a Hill between Farmlands. Some Grass but also sandy. Everything as stated below. It feels a bit like a Farm with lots of Cars and some Motorcycles (not just parked Overlanders) and it's still a Construction Site. We expected a bit more Infrastructure. However, the Kitchen inside a Container is almost finished and nice! Elli and Duncan are really friendly and Duncan gave us a lot of very helpful Shipping Advice. We stayed two Nights for the really cheap 70 ZAR pppn and were the only Guests.

Like described by others. It is really a work in progress but the warm welcome by hosts Duncan and Eli makes up for that. Water from the taps is filtered twice and tastes real good.

Nice camp, but still under construction. The coordinates only mark the point you leave the main road, then you have to follow the gravel road for 1km and turn left (small sign). The owners Elli and Duncan are very nice and helpfull. Now 70R ppn over 12, but all our children stayed for free.

Eli and Duncan are very friendly and helpfull. In the
last 3 weeks we slept there several times and everytime you come here you have a warm welcome.
Duncan can organize all you shipping to and from Cape Town. You can leave your car there and he will do the rest. He also do airport transfers. He also knows a lot about........èh, everything.
