Something not right?

Description

The campsites at third bridge are all under a large tree with a braai place and water tap. Toilet and shower block was nice and clean, should have hot water in the showers, but we did not try them. There are no fences around the camp and animals walk through the area, we had an elephant 1 ½ meter from the car at night (we saw the tracks in the morning). 472 pula + 290 pula entrance fee to the Moremi park.

We Fine with 1 Car and 2 Person. We Fine from maun.

Very nice campsides - all bridges are possible to pass and repaired. Camping for Europeans 51 USD per P. per night! Plus 270P per P. per day plus 75 P for the car. We would have liked to stay longer but too expensive for overland travellers. Xakanaka was fully booked - probably just in their books. 3 years ago the entry fee into the park was 120 P per P. plus 50P for the car!

Nice campsite, very remote. Trip from South Gate is wonderful. Can recommend to drive Mboma loop, a lot of game! Clean ablutions, WLAN at gate (during office hours). Small shop with basic goods, even cold drinks! Good boat drive into the delta, unfortunately no Mokoro. Visits by elephants, other game at camp quite often. Third bridge was still under construction, they told us it will be ready August 2022.

Report Check-In

New bridge is now under construction, should be finished in two months - hopefully.

Campsite Nummer 8 am linken Rand. Hyänen am Abend und schöne Bootstour mit Moses am Morgen (600 Pula/Stunde/Boot)

Report Check-In

To go to Third Bridge and in the loops around Third Bridge the tracks are narrow and the trees have low branches. Not recommended for large or high vehicles. Or take away secateur and wood saw to get the passage.

Then to go from third bridge to xakanaxa ou return, the bridge is broken, and you must go to south gate.

Report Check-In

Campsite was full but we were able to get the last spot at campsite 9. The Tented camp was empty and the staff used it for a party on Friday night. 3 small hyena on camp at night but nothing else. Currently can only access west and south of Park from here. 3rd and 2nd bridge are still broken so you have to drive back down to South Gate to go towards Xakanaxa camp. Signs on the road to show the detour to 3rd bridge camp, crossing a few shallow rivers.

Report Check-In

We were one of the first to camp here after the camp was reopened due to the rains damaging the bridges. There is a detour around the broken bridges with a few shallow water crossings. The campsite is beautiful. The ablutions are clean and there was plenty hot water. Very friendly staff!

Report Check-In

We stayed here during rainy season and Covid time which means we were the only guests in the campsites for a whole week. Campsite 3 is a nice one, close to the ablutions, which are perfectly clean and cleaned every day although it was only us using them. The team of Xomae group as well as the officer in charge from Wildlife Department were more than helpful and welcoming us. They made it a once in a lifetime experience for us. Wildlife around is incredible, had elephants at campsite, Leopard at campsite 4, hyenas and hippos in campground, lions on the game drive and so on. Highly recommend to go there!

Report Check-In

Cleaner ablutions than in i.e. Xakanaxa Campsite. Friendly staff gave good game drive tips to Mboma Island. Possibility to pay with card! Campsites 7,8 have nice location, near ablution but also a view.

Report Check-In

Another wild place to stay, within 1 hour we had an elephant walk past the camp and so close to us we were forced to move. In the evening there was a hippo charging around too! Good ablutions at each end of the camp but can be some distance if you are at a campsite in the middle. Very good shop on site too!

Report Check-In

Nice campsite, hippo’s around the car in the evening and night, saw hyenas wiht cups late afternoon right outside the cam. Third Bridge reopend after being closed over a week. Good and clean ablutions and friendly staf.

Report Check-In

Nice campground with big spaces and very clean ablutions, but the focus here is definitely location. We did a 2-hour boat tour and loved it. Beware of the roads getting here though (the info below is for early January). The road between Xakanaxa and the North Gate was pretty bad with deep puddle (Pool, really) after puddle. There were 3 or 4 puddles in a row that had a big drop onto a rock that we couldn‘t see was coming (we certainly felt and heard it though). We made it through without a snorkel, but it was close. Our shocks are quite squeaky from the ordeal. Others weren‘t so lucky. The road between third bridge and South Gate was better and more beautiful, but we ran into a family who flooded their engine on that road (also lots of „puddles“ but not quite as bad as the other road). The manager at third bridge said that each week on average they have 2 to 3 guests break down in the way there (this is a campground with less than 10 sites). The campground will try to assist if you break down. The rangers have no clue about road conditions and don‘t really care whether or not you make it. Despite all this, it is worth it, and I would do it again. The site was booked full even in the off-season. We were lucky enough to get a site last minute because somebody else was unlucky and broke down on the way in.

We know it’s expensive, but moremi park is worth a visit. We had around 15 elephants around our Unimog in the late afternoon and at night. They got so close, they touched our car with their trunks. A hyena and two hippos also came by at night. And in the Morning a Male Lion was just outside the Camp. Be aware, when your car is more than 5t you can’t cross any bridge in moremi. We did some water crossings with the Unimog 😄

Report Check-In

Nice campground for a night. To get to the camp (if you’re not coming from Maun) you have to cross the water. When we were there it was a very low water level and we could cross it. But you never know.
In the evening a hippo visited us on our spot. We had a fire and were sitting there for having dinner as we heard a rustle. The hippo was there and ate the grass for about 15 minutes. We went into our car and watched him. Sometimes he cames up to 2m towards us.
The ablution was clean but around 200m away from our spot. Too far at nighttime.
The people working there are super friendly.

We haven't made a reservation, but called from gate. Camps were fully booked (?) but tented Site was available. 100 USD pppn.
New tents, good bed, great view from patio and breakfast with Elefants.

Report Check-In

Nice spots under large trees and ablutions with water! Tuckshop sells wide variety for the distant location, food items, alcohol and other nicknacks. Good to stay for 2 nights and relax after all that deep sand and watercrossing! Boatride was great but ask around at the other campsites to share the cost of P600 an hour for the boat.

Report Check-In

Very sandy Road to arrive at the Third bridge campsite. The bridge is too short, you have to drive trough the River the last 15m. We booked a late afternoon boat trip with a very experienced guide, this was an amazing experience. The boat trip was 600 pula per hour. For camping we payed 600 pula (SARC) for 2 persons

Beautiful, peaceful camp. Quite a rough drive to get there though.

So expensive but totaly worth it. The area around is so beautiful and there are so many animals around!
