Description

Relaxing place with its own private beach. Campsite is on one end of the beach and bungalows on the other end. Campsites are on grass on three different levels up from the beach, some trees for shade, water and power (you need an extension cord). Access to internet through hotspot at the reception, kayaks and snorkeling equipment for hire (included in the price for the cabins). Toilet and shower block are clean and with hot water in the afternoon. Good restaurant and a bar with a great terrace for sundowners. 10 USD per person per night so it depends on the exchange rate.

Still 15$ pppn which is a bit price but à really lovely and peaceful place with private beach and a beautiful tropical Garden. We have our own ablution block with hot water (a bit old but clean). Électricity and drinkable water to fill our tank. I love this place

Report Check-In

Campsite set in beautiful tropical gardens with a very pretty beach in front with shaded loungers. Ablutions were clean but possibly could do with a bit of modernisation. Restaurant deck is a great place to go for a sundowner beer or two. Food is reportedly very good although we did not have any as the menu was a bit above our budget. We went on a tour of their spice/herb garden with the manager which was really interesting - highly reccomended.

Beautiful Lakeside Paradise. Secluded, beautiful restaurant, fantastic campsite with hot showers. Great birding. Quiet and restfull. Lots of trees.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place right on the beach. The campsites are nice, and we had a toilet/shower with hot water to ourselves. The restaurant and bar is pricey, but the food is absolutely delicious. MK14-17000 per main. camping still $15pppn. Kayak and snorkel/mask available for free, as well as frisbees and other games. Follow signs to Makuzi beach, easy to find from main road.

Lovely campsite. The first really good shower I had here. This is the perfect spot for a “retreat”. Restaurant good. Just lovely.

Report Check-In

This campsite is too expensive for what you get. It's quiet here, the toilet and shower are clean but a bit old. There are some nicer places on lake malawi, for example Ngala Beach. We stayed anyway because all camp owners are having difficult time because of Covid. Restaurant is closed at the moment and under maintenance. USD 15 pp

Report Check-In

open, but no services like restaurant and bar without pre-booking, due to covid.
sure, a paradise like beach spot, but only for the rooms. the beach side for camping is not that special.
the only one table there is half rotten and the other half is full of bird poop- didn't want to have my coffee there.
hot shower is amazing, the abolition house could need an uplifting.
beware of two young huge untrained dogs jumping at you and trying to bite your bike.
somehow sterile surrounding, it could be anywhere in the world, no feeling of being in Malawi.

Report Check-In

a Beautifully place on the lake. Well maintained campsite underneath the trees overlooking the lake. The private beach gives you a break from the locals allowing you to enjoy the paradise. The campsite is also not located close to a village making it very peaceful.
The restaurant also serves nice food.

Even though there has not been many guest due to covid, was the place still neat en presentable.

This is one of the nicest places to visit next to the Lake.

(Another!) beautiful spot on the lake for camping. Relatively large lodge situated in its own cove. Campsite is raised and set back overlooking the beach with plots separated by foliage. Sit on kayaks in good condition for hire (I think $5) and good swimming and snorkelling out on the island nearby or longer paddle down to Kande. Could spend a good few days here! Friendly proprietor, not offering meals or bar at the time of visit but said they plan to reopen with a limited menu from September 1st.

Our favourite campsite on Lake Malawi. Very beautiful bar area with outside decking. Beach view very different with rocks and palms. Staff says safe to swim. Delicious food, slightly more expensive but cheaper than at Kachere Kastle. Ablutions nothing special but clean. Staff very friendly. Excellent view from grassy campsite.

I wanted to wait after we finish our 2 months visit in Malawi before I make my final judgement. We stayed at min 10 camps along the shore from the North to the South. When it comes to the best beach Mkhuzi wins hands down. It is a very private beautiful bay. Very few villages around and therefore the water is clean and clear. Soft white sand. Lots of bandas to provide shade and relaxed under. The camp ground has grass, electricity points and taps with drinking water. We ended staying for 2 weeks and negotiated a long term rate of $8pp. Normally the rate is $10pp. You can pay by card. The ablutions are clean. When the famous lake flies comes through they do leave a smell behind in the ablutions. This does not mean the ablutions are dirty. The staff bought some airtime vouchers for me from the nearby village. They also called a man named Blessings who ownes a motorbike to do some shopping for me. For a small fee he will take your list for fresh produce, buy it and deliver it. I was pleased with his service. Good business idea! We enjoyed our stay.

Good campsite as described. Well maintained. Kind of place you need to stay more than one day. Ticks all the boxes for a lakeside destination.

Beautiful view, camping on grass, bathrooms needs upgrading, nowhere to hang towel and clothes. According to owner he is doing away with campsites

We planned to stay for 1 night and ended staying 3. Great ablutions, always hot water, lovely views from the campsite. Well maintained and clean beach. Nice terrace bar for sundowners overlooking the lake. We had dinner at their restaurant on 2 of the nights and the food( fish) was absolutely amazing. Definitely a place to stay

Kachere Kastle and Chintheche Inn were both closed (probably because of rainy season), but we were pleasantly surprised by this place! Very nice private beach area, camp spots on grass surrounded by trees. Lots of space, sheltered dish wash area. Good ablutions. Frog symphony at night (but apart from that, very quiet!). Did not use the restaurant. 10$pp camping.

Report Check-In

Best location in Malawi. Campsites wonderful, ablutions smelly and neglected. Safe swimming beach, can spend a week here. Food in restaurant excellent.

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite right on a clean private section of the lake. We planned to only stay one evening but ended up staying with 3 due to the peacefulness of the location and the great overlanding company we had.

While the campsite is beautiful we personally felt that it could have been maintained a bit better.

Camping was $10 per person per night.

We didn't eat at the restaurant only ordered a side local dish and some beers, which in our opinion was very overpriced.

We did however buy delicious fish off local fishmen, waving them down from the beach during their morning catch.

Overall amazing time spent here, mostly because of the great company from other overlanders and the great beach front.

A great place to relax, swim and enjoy the lake Malawi. Campsite with a amazing view, good facilities and very helpful and friendly staff. Everything is well managed. The restaurant is pricy but the food excellent. 7200 MK Camping pppn. We stood for more than 3 weeks. It was hard to leave from this place close to heaven...

Very beautiful setting, excellent campsite & nice staff. Tourism generally down on previous years in this region so less visitors and therefore very peaceful here. Highly recommended. Interesting old mission nearby and village school worth visiting
