THIS PLACE IS CLOSED. There is no sign and no road. I confirmed this with other camps.

regretfully I was unable to visit, however numerous people tell me it's good and worth it, I would tend to ignore negative reviews from irate cheap skate commenters regarding any places in Malawi, why travel overland regardless of vehicle type but expect 5 star treatment, the whole idea behind Africa is it's natural beauty and style and most overland accommodation is based on this, the rugedness of Africa is unique, it cannot be duplicated, you want 5 stars then go directly to cities and good luck

We tried to go here but currently it’s closed as the owner is back in the uk. Not sure when it will be open again. We were told Maybe in a month or so.
We had a quick look around whilst we were there, looked pretty run down and the camping spot didn’t really look great either. Even if it was open probably would have kept on driving anyways.

Not recommended. So, I arrived near dusk, tired on the motorcycle as usual. They were kind enough to let me borrow a pan to change my oil (while it was still hot). Lady came with a menu when I was under the motorcycle and told me to order dinner.

All finished and dark now . I asked to see a room (single person) and was taken to one with bathroom and told US$ 70. I asked to see a shared bath as there were no guests so who cares as no one to share with. Price now $60. So I decided to pack up. I’m tired, it’s pitch black, but no way am I going to take the tourist hustle, especially when I was so ready to relax with a fellow biker.

I asked how much is my chicken, which I’m told is 12,000 MK (US $17). Room price now $45.
Paid and left without my chicken as I’m just ready to get away from this place. I promptly took a spill on a nasty, steep, rocky section on my way out. (naturally). Pavement mentioned in old reviews no where to be found. Very friendly employee comes too my aid, and bringing my 12,000 chicken on a china plate out to the scene of the crash.

We get my bike upright and I ride to a safe section to repack. Put my 12,000 quarter chicken and two spring rolls in my tank bag and give my helper the potatoes. Likely a US$ 5 value for the potatoes so well worth the effort for him in helping me. Luckily bike looks ok, save for a new dent in the pannier and some scratches on the front plastic. I’m far too nice of a guy to tell him that he forgot a napkin.

Found a surprisingly nice hotel (Kabalilo Guest House) about 6km north for 5,000 MK.

Very disappointing as I expected Much better from an expat fellow biker. Sitting here eating my 12,000 chicken hoping my banged up knee from the spill is ok to ride tomorrow. Now I just realize the owner told me he was unwell because of food poisoning from his restaurant. Hopefully not from the 12,000 chicken (or the potatoes as the guy who helped me was very nice. I’d hate for him to get food poisoning either). Well, at least another story to tell and my oil is good to go.

Not recommended.

Nice place, camping is behind the house but shady. Has its own beach. Menu is good. Toilet and shower facilities good. $10 per person per night

Report Check-In

Great private cove beach, nice very clean lodging and small campsite. Excellent food. Friendly owner (British ex-pat) has workshop to use and is a motorcyclist. The last hill down to the place is a bit steep but is straight and paved so no problem.

Report Check-In

Well run establishment, great beach and very good food in the restaurant. The owner can arrange WiFi if required.
