Zimbabwe
Great site with amazing views - Caution it is on the edge of a cliff with no barrier or safety fence, probably not safe with children! We spent the afternoon watching elephants in the gorge below.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Amazing campsite with cold water showers, flushing toilet, shelter, bbq, firepit, water tap and the most incredible vertiginous view! This park is about Bush camping and gorges, we saw a bit of wildlife driving around but no lions or elephant.Wifi at reception, no signal anywhere else
Report Check-InAmazing views, Campsite with lappa, braai, tiolet & cold shower
peaceful & quiet
Fee update: international & SADC $30 pppn
Conservation fee: international & SADC $10
Car fee: $4
The roads to Mucheni George have improved and are easy now. The road to the entrance is good too.
Report Check-InCampsite with a stunning view throughout the gorges into the open plain. At night you can see the lights of the fishing boots at lake Kariba in the far.we enjoyed the evening. Payed $17 pppn for camping + $10 for car + $4 pp conservation fee. It is worthwhile to go there.
Report Check-InThe name of the Campsite is Mucheni View.
Price is still the same (10US$ for your car, 4US$ p.P. Conservation fee and 17US$ Camping). The tap worked and they bring you firewood.
Toilet a bit rundown.
Stunning location! There is an enclosure with frame to hang your camp shower, a long drop toilet, picnic table and bench, a concrete platform with thatched roof for shade, and a braai. They have now put a tap in here but are having difficulty with pumping the water up to this point, so it is not reliable. We filled our containers from the tap at nearby Muchenie Gorge camp (more reliable). Currently a very under visited park and you’re unlikely to see other tourists, but there’s a lot of investment into making it more accessible so this may change.
Pay at the park HQ office. Park permit is US$4 per person per day (overnight will count as two days) + $10 per vehicle for up to five days. Camping fee $17 pppn.
If you’re looking for remote solitude, this is the place. Stunning view over the valley. Must be the season but I saw no elephants whatsoever.
Report Check-InGorgeous setting inside Chizarira National Park, which is little visited. (Only 7 groups had signed the entry ledger in the entire month of September). One group per campsite here so you have this stunning place all to yourself! They've upgraded the site to include a tap with potable water. (The nearby Mucheni Gorge campsite also has water now). There's a shady concrete slab with a thatch roof to pitch a tent or set up your table. Braai stand. Bucket shower (you provide the bucket). All well maintained. And an old, functional long drop. You need 4x4 to get here even in dry season. We also spent the morning watching elephants across the gorge. We paid $21 pppn to camp ($4 for park entry and $17 for camping) plus a one time fee of $10 for the vehicle.
