Zimbabwe
Site right in the banks of the Zambezi River under a big jackalberry (?) tree. No facilities, just a fire pit and an abandoned long drop. Beautiful view. Hippos nearby. We saw plenty of wildlife on our drive in. Only downside is there was music coming from the Zambia side - perhaps from a lodge across the way. (The buildings in Zambia aren't close, but you can see their rooftops). Cost for two people to camp for one night is $60: $25 pppn for park fee and camping fee plus $10 for the vehicle. When we asked the ranger at the gate about buying firewood, she told us to collect it in the park! If you drive a bit further into the park (toward Chundu 1) there's another beautiful more shady site under a few trees (but with lots of toilet paper around)
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Would be a great camping spot, just that the price per site is 100.- US$ at the moment.
Report Check-InNice area of slightly sloping grass on the riverbank. The coordinates on T4A are incorrect - head instead for the Chundu Picnic site or use these coordinates! There is an old concrete sign visible when coming West to East. There appears to be some long drop toilets at some distance, but not visited. You can hear the trucks on the Kazangula to Livingstone road on the opposite side of the river.
