Everyone was quite friendly, they spoke English in addition to Portuguese. But I was told I could not get a tourist visa there. They said I could get the visa if I got a residency card, but after making a phone call, I was told no visa. US passport

Visited the embassy today. I met the consul but my request was refused. As it is happening with other Nigerian embassies, they now have a no residency no visa rule. He suggested me to go to Burkina or Niger to apply for the visa.

Met with staff member Noëmi. Friendly but didn’t issue visa. Reason: “too early on the trip, try again in Benin or Ghana”. They issue visa for 2 weeks only but that’s obviously not enough time to get to Nigeria overland.

Very unhelpful, refuses visas to overlanders even after trying to convince him for half a day. Says to get it later on down the track. His argument didn't really even make sense. Don't bother here

We met with the consul and explained our situation and intended route through the country. He was very friendly and gave us tips on what to see. We could collect our post-dated visas later the same day. It was one of the easiest visa applications so far.
We had to fill out one form and hand in one passport photo.
Costs are 40.000CFA/person (61€) for a one month visa valid for three months from the date of issue (post-dating no problem).
