Plenty of guides are around here. The main viewpoint is just 20m away, and it's free to visit without a guide. But if you want to go down to the bottom, they try to make you pay. They asked for 20k for a guided walk, then 10k if I go alone, but I negotiated down to 2k. One guide even came along for free, but the trail was a bit tricky, so it was good to have him. In the end, I paid him 1k. The guides wear the same uniform promoting tourism in Kalandula and are trying to develop it as a paid attraction, so it may not be easy to avoid everything.

Beautiful waterfalls. Nice to see if you are in the area. We only went at the principal Mirador. No one bothered us. At the end, we decided to leave 1000 Kz for the guide who was really nice, polite and made the effort to speak in frenglish. And 1000 Kz for the guy who had an eye on our car. Everyone around was really friendly

Everything as said before: stunning and very impressive!
However, be prepared for very intrusive youngsters … they would not take a „no thank you“ for a walk down to the bottom as an answer … not even after repeating 5 or 10 times

Very spectacular waterfalls. You don’t need to walk to get an amazing view. Guides will be waiting for you. If you want them to bring you at the feet of the waterfalls, discuss the price before and prepare to bet wet. About 1 hour to go down and back.

Tar road until this spot. Everything is free, yet local guides offered to show us a little trail to the bottom of the falls. We wanted to discover by our own, which was accepted in the end. The guides are trained by a guy from calandula, but he told us they are still in formation.

Very nice point of view. Amazing falls even during dry season. Free parking. Free entrance. You can take a bath in the river. Too many kids asking money but we didnt give nothing.

Second largest waterfall in Africa. Worth to see from both sides (35 km distance between them).
Can go down to swim and see from the bottom.

it's possible to see the falls from both sides, although it's a 35km drive between them. This side is free, although many boys hanging around hoping to guide you to the bottom. Great and different views on this side compared to the other. If you have time it's worth seeing both sides. I didn't camp here but it wouldn't be a problem.

For wildcamping I mentioned below, see the wildcamp spot nearby on IOverlander. It is not at this place.

You can stay at the parking lot but also camp on this place near the river. you can take a bath in the morning, wash your clothes, swim, make a fire in the evening and just relax for some days. Sometimes locals passed by but they are ok. Beautifull spot for wild camping! Ask permission at the owners of the hotel.

One of the most beautiful falls we've seen so far on our tour! Totally worth the detour, especially if you going to Pedras Negras afterwards.
We came just before sunset...great light for pictures. For the night we stayed just at the parking lot, which was no problem at all, but the first locals came at 6 a.m. the next morning. So get up early ;)

Felt like a touristic Place with concrete Viewing Building, Trash Bins and probably sees and increasing Number of Visitors. Still free. It's paved all the Way from Luanda until the Falls. A lot of young Boys hanging around and asking you to go to the Bottom of the Falls (we didn't). The Falls were the biggest and most beautiful we saw so far. There are Stone Carvings from Lovers which date back until 1927! As we were going to the Pedras Negras from here (which were awesome and even more impressing) it was totally worth the Ride!

impressive waterfalls with vertical drop. no facilities. Can sit or stand right on the edge next to the water. Can walk to the bottom. no other visitors. teenagers want to guide you but aren't too pushy.

It is an amazing site but the reality is I did 600 km extra and 2 long days for 30 mins viewing. worth considering.
