NILE safari lodge is reopened but the campsite is permanently closed. This campsite was know as Shoebill. It is now a high end lodge without campsite. Do not wildcamp on the old spot as you are trespassing.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This campsite and lodge temporarily closed for renovations / upgrade they told us it would re open approximately one year from now that would be Nov 2019 , we camped at the Murchinson Tree house about 4 kms away nice spot close to the river.
Report Check-InNow named Nile Safari Lodge. Their Shoebill campsite has separate entrance from road. Caution: After or during rains, the roads from Bulisa or Wanseko may be a problem. (We drove frm Wanseko—haven’t seen the one from Bulisa). After a night of moderate rain, it was difficult to exit to the road—entrance road not maintained! Management told me that the road to Bulisa was impossible due to mud—advised me to head for Wanseko. We couldn’t even drive 1km before sliding off and getting stuck — only reasonable way out was to transit the Park by paying the fees.
Other reviews spot on—although plenty of water in rainy season, the ablution water ran out—they added water to the tank using jerry cans—but only enough for 1 shower, next morning no flushing water!!
Amzing views over the Nile. But when we were there NO water at the campsite; hence extremely dirty ablutions, especially the toilets!!!
So I suggest check before staying there if everything is working properly.
Food is nice, although a bit expensive. It is a 5 minute walk from the campsite to the lodge.
$10,-pppn and dinner $15,-pp.
Report Check-InGreat campsite right on the river. Bar, restaurant, and lovely pool at the lodge.
Report Check-InBasic camp site but great location looking over the Nile. The lodge looks very nice, we are camping though.
