Great stay at the Kimana Camping : just outside the Amboseli park, a 15min drive from the Kimana gate. Nice flat camping spots under big trees for the shade. Hot water showers, toilets, a plce do wash your dishes, light in the trees at night if needed. We have been very well welcomed by David +254 725 476478

Report Check-In

Lovely campsite, welcomed by John. Good facilities and well kept. I went to bed and woke up with fantastic views of Killi 😊

Report Check-In

Clean ablutions, welcoming staff. We did not use the very simple bar and restaurant. Convenient before or after Amboseli.
Note: The 2023-12-15 review by Ced was already visible in September 2023 so it might be from 2022.

Report Check-In

A lovely community camp 5 minutes from the gate. Good ablutions, bar, kitchen and restaurant. Lovely team.

Report Check-In

Great community camp. So neat and tidy. Camping under big trees with fire pit. Hot water, toilets, electricity on sites. Really friendly people managing the camp. It has a restaurant (we didn’t use it). Very conveniently located 5 minutes from the gate. $20 pp pn. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Simple campsite in ideal location. There’s a light, plug point and sink at the site which is awesome. Fantastic view of Kilimanjaro clouds permitting.

Report Check-In

Beautiful view of Mt Kilimanjaro from the restaurant/fire pit area on a clear day!

Stayed in a double room/banda here for 2000 KSh pppn (total 4000 Ksh). Room is basic but there is a double bed, electricity and power-points, bathroom with a hot (actually hot!) shower with ok water pressure and mosquito net. Towels and soap/toilet paper included. Room cleanliness is ok, not an issue. You can also camp in the campground but we didn’t ask for the price.

There is an attached restaurant in an open area. Beer for 300 KSh. Overpaid for dinner - 3000 KSh for 2 people for Nyama choma (initially they quoted 3000 KSH pp). They offered to do our washing for 1000 KSH but price is very negotiable.

The staff are very nice. Safe place guarded by Maasai. Camp manager is David. WhatsApp him on the number provided in the last check in. David can get a car to pick you up from Kimana town if you whatsapp him ahead of time.

The road to the campsite is gravel with one/two points of heavy sand. We got here on a motorbike without many issues.

Report Check-In

The campsite is well kept and has plenty of shade trees. Fantastic view of Mt Kilimanjaro. Each site has its own washing sink and a fire pit which they can supply wood for 500KS for the week. we paid 25USD pppn. a bit expensive, but you are short drive to the entrance. Ablution block kept clean and there is hot water.

Report Check-In

Amazing campsite with beautiful trees for shade, fireplace and a wonderful clear view at Kilimanjaro.
David is the best host !

Report Check-In

We stayed 2 nights here over Xmas so we could go into Amboseli for a game drive on Xmas day. The location is perfect, only 10 minutes from the gate to the park, the road is tarmac all the way to the gate and there is just a 3km dusty dirt road that takes you to the camp which we had no problem driving. The camp is fairly basic and dusty but that is the nature of Amboseli! There r 2 showers with HOT water and 2 flushing toilets. There is also a sink and standpipe. A couple of electric points and lights around the fairly large campsite and the most wonderful view of Kilimanjaro when she chooses to show herself! David the camp manager is really helpful and we had a big camp fire whenever needed. Also available cold drinks and beer. 1000ksh pppn. David's WhatsApp is +254725476478. You can book guides for the park here too if you don't want to self drive.

Report Check-In

Road is nasty. Land cruiser did it but pole pole. It's a mess and would not recommend for inexperienced or anyone with less than a land cruiser clearance. Camp is flat grassy site with firewood available (cost depends on how much you want) food was quoted at 1000 so made our own food. Friendly people but was disappointed one touted as a guide for the aprk but was basically a passenger who did not know anything about animals or spotting them. Toilets functional but not cleanest. Take own toilet roll. Did not try shower as full of mosquitos. Very handy to gate (via the very bed road back out). Wriously do not take your car if it is not off road capable with clearance. You will break it. Be prepared to get dusty too. Stunning views of the mountain.

Report Check-In

Helpful staff, 1000 KES ppn, good Safaricom internet signal. There's a real effort to make a proper camping area with electric plugs, light, water tap under the shaded acacias but toilets and showers are still a bit run down. Bring toilet paper. Good place overall, but no Kilimanjaro for us due to bad weather.

Report Check-In

Such a gem… We currently the only campers. 1.3km from Kimana gate to Amboseli national park. Facilities slightly run down but the amazing views of Kilimanjaro makes up for it. 1000 KS a night. Run by the local masai community. Note the entrance road to Camp is currently in the process of being tarred and the diversion is really bad quality, watch for sharp rocks. Will be back

Report Check-In

Nice big trees with flat areas to camp underneath. Basic table and basin at campsite . No dustbin. Showers are African but cleaner than many others. Toilet worked. Shower was luke warm. Only one shower worked. Quiet and no security problems. Very near to gate . We also went in at 16:00 came out of park at 18:30 and went in again the next day without having to pay again. So valid for 24 hours

Report Check-In

Great Spot! Kimana Community Camp offers shady campsites and rustic chalets for a small budget. The Amboseli Park gate is literally a stones throw away. Park fees include 2 entries into the park in 24 hours.
David is a very friendly camp manager, attentive and always willing to help. Even when we arrived late and the camp was full, he helped us immediately.
We'll be back, for sure.
Ksh 1000 pppn for camping.

Report Check-In

New management. No other campers when we were there. Nice spot. 1000 kes pp. They totally took the chance and over charged us for the mediocre dinner, 1000 kes pp - we had three children so for the five of us it ended up costing 10000 kes. Not worth it.

Report Check-In

Best campsite in the area. We stayes at the Parks official campsite a month earlier and it was dusty and not pleasant at all. We loved Amboseli so much we went back but stayed at Kimana and so much nicer with amazing views of Kili. Bathrooms very basic but clean. Cold shower. 1000ksh pppn.
They also have safari tents if you wish.
Just fyi. You are able to enter park twice in 24 hours. Even though ut says single entry!!!???

Report Check-In

Spent 2 nights here. A beautiful view of Kili. everything you need and close to Amboseli Park gate. Paid 1000ksh pppn as apposed to $50 at the KWS public campsite which is about 200m from Kimana.

Report Check-In

Very friendly people. Quite nicely located. Showers are not really warm. All night about 10 dogs in the neighbourhood barked and howled from different directions. In addition, one man was yelling "ho.....ho.....ho" for hours. I don't know if there were some rituals going on or if someone was mentally not quite fit. In any case, we could hardly sleep.

Report Check-In

A very nice camp. Great campsite, nice tents, bar-restaurant, staff friendly and very reasonable prices. The best spot to stay some days in Amboseli. Really close the gate, many walks possible around.

Report Check-In

There is nothing more to add to what has been said except that the access is now much better and that despite few visitors due to Corona, the area looks very well maintained and clean. We stayed 5 nights and were treated very accommodatingly. We also add some meaningful pictures.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite just outside the game park so no park entry fees. Charges are 1,000ksh pppn. Low season rooms available from 2,000ksh pppn bed only. 4,500ksh pppn for full board. Clean toilets and hot water available. Friendly staff and great view of mt. Kilimanjaro.

Report Check-In

We enjoyed this community campsite. Simple, but nicely located. The access from the C103 is an impertinence. Elephants also migrate through the region.

Report Check-In

Very Nice community campsite. Friendly people, clean showers & toilets. The location is secured by masai.

Report Check-In

we had a very pleasent stay,
view on the Killi for sunrise and sunset,
all around green after the rain,
only the track from the gate was horrible even for a landcruiser....
we come again

Report Check-In

1000 pppn. Okay. Nice view of Kilimanjaro. Little Bar and Food available.

Report Check-In

Very good camp for overlanders. Has a cantine with beers.
Night. 1000 ppn, dinner (buffet) 10pp. Breakfast, we made 500 pp.
The place is very shabby and ablutions blocks really disgusting, but views of Kili are great. 5 min from the main gate.
I recomend to go even if it is not well mantained

Report Check-In

Because we wanted to leave early in the morning, we booked a safari tent. Without the food we could have it for 5000Ksh for two people. The zipper of the tent broke when we opened it, there was no pressure in the shower and only cold water (they promised a hot shower) and we had only one mosquito net, but two beds. But; the view is stunning. Looking on Kilimanjaro out of the tent. And the next morning it took us only ten minutes to get in Amboseli Park.

Report Check-In

Friendly campsite. 1000 ksh pp for a tent but they try 2000 first. Meal for 1000 is basic but ok. We road our bikes hard to reach it at daylight with elefants and giraffes right alongside. Beer was cold for 300. stunning view. What more do you want?

Report Check-In

This was my 4th or 5th visit to Kimana. Yes it's basic, it's community run but it's a lot cheaper than paying for the park rates and it's literally just 500m from the park campsite. We've seen ellies pass through.
There is now mains power so no more generator noise (but to give them there due they did always shut it down at 10pm).
The ablutions do need an update.
The water from the tap in the campsite is clean.

Report Check-In

Camp very basic but close to park entrance. Be careful they like to overcharge! We paid $10pppn wanted $25. Stayed 2 nights. Camped with gorgeous view of Kilimanjaro.

Report Check-In

Decent enough campsite. Bit pricey at 1000 ksh per night with poor ablutions and noisy guests but great to get into the park early!

Report Check-In

Basic campsite just outside Park entrance . Very basic flush toilets & shower heated by donkey. There is a restaurant & accomadation available .1000 ksh pp. fire wood is extra cost. View of Mt Killi can be seen on clear day apparently , we were not lucky though. Plenty of room for Big Rigs. Park fees at time for overseas visitors 70 USD pp & vehicle charged per weight ( up to 3,500 Ksh)

Report Check-In

Big tree where we could park our truck, 1000 KES PP

Report Check-In

Basic campsite just outside the national park.

Report Check-In

We were lead here by the wardens in error as we had paid for the KWS camp, park cost KSH1,000, noisy generators and doesn’t feel like your near a park
