Malawi
Nice hostel with campsite, quiet, bar & restaurant, close to city centre (banks, post office, immigration, police station, etc.).
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Lodge and camping in a very nice garden. Lot of different people and a relaxed atmosphere. Lots of things to do, don't forget the fantastic big market in walking distance. Nice bar and restaurant with a real different menu than what you find elswhere. Lovely staff and dutch owners. We camped here 5 nights. Kw 14.000pppn.
Report Check-InWe are the new owners of Blend Lodge and Kitchen. Thank you overlanders for the great reviews the past 6 months. We have added some up-to-date pictures. More facilities for campers and overlanders will be created soon. You are more then welcome in our great garden. We wish you safe and adventurous travels
Report Check-InIt is called blend lodge now. Great place, nice staff and restaurant. Good place to extend your visa as the immigration office is close by. They also offer a variety of activities for rather expensive prices
Report Check-InIt is a lively place. The new owners, Niels and Inge, gave it a new name. Blend. And indeed the place is a nice Blend of people. During our stay there was a African painting workshop and other activities such a pottery making are planned.
Report Check-InGreat lodge and backpackers. The new owners are great. Recently reopened and a great food menu and accommodations.
Report Check-InWe wanted to go and sleep over but they are closed for a week due to renovations. A shame for us but great for future visitors ;) Unfortunately forgot to ask when exactly they open again. Better to call and find out.
Report Check-InA great place! The Dutch owners and staff are helpful and friendly. The lawn is accessible for a ground tent, but not a vehicle. There is shady seating outside – it's a good place to meet people.
Report Check-InLovely place! Nice garden, good seats and nice campingplace. We camped for $6 pppn. Also good, not expensive food. Close to shops and market. Comfortable!
Report Check-InNice place close to the center of town. You can walk to do the groceries. Nice gardens with many seating areas. Relaxed atmosphere.
There is not much space for big rigs or rooftoptents. You can stay on one of the two small the parking lots. We used some stones under our wheels to get our car a bit leveled.
Report Check-Inbeautiful setting in more than a backyard but a two tier level spot for tents and rooftop tent is in dirt but level and a great spot for table veranda shade and tiled spot to hang. very nice couple owns it, and they help the villagers for sure. near town, and nice walking Area to chocolate factory. corona Times 6 usd a night, campfires and decent food. i recommend highly in Zomba
Report Check-InDid not stay but current prices:
Camping 6USD pppn.
Camping in their tent 8USD pppn.
Dorm 10 USD pppn.
Private room 25USD.
Campsite only for tents. Anything on wheels need to stay on the parking lot, with no view on the garden and no shade.
Report Check-InA nice place to base yourself for Zombies Platane and to use the services in town and stock up. It a great campsite here, though, the ablutions need an upgrade and to be expanded. WiFi is no existent! Owner was very very helpful though and gave some great advise for further north in Malawi. It’s a good place for a overnight stay, but I think one night is enough.
Report Check-InAfter reading the reviews we were expecting more, basic grounds with little atmosphere or level space, not our vibe at all unfortunately. Menu looks okay, new owners are Dutch, we moved on....the plateau in nature is much more appealing then camping in a compound.
Report Check-InIndeed a nice backpackers hostel.
Big field of green grass around the whole hostel to pick your own spot.
The free.(evening) WIFI is unable to load any website properly and would kick us of all the time so I'd say there's no WIFI.
The bathrooms need an upgrade, there's only one shower.
I would recommend this hostel to backpackers because it is very colourful and friendly. But wouldn't necessarily recommend it to overlanders.
We went here because Casa Rosa's campsite is closed for a week due to maintenance.
Report Check-InHi, we are the new owners from September 2017. We welcome individual overlanders; for trucks we do not have enough sanitary facilities yet. We obviously gave the place 5 stars but welcome all feedback from visitors.
Zomba is a great stop between big city Blantyre & Malawi's best safari park Liwonde. Also not far from Mulanje and from Cape Maclear. If you want to spend a couple of days in a nice quiet town with all facilities like banks, immigration office, post office, one of Malawi's biggest markets, and a cappuccino - Zomba is the place to be. Of course Zomba Plateau is fantastic for hiking. Nice and cool in winter (July/August), nice and warm (but not too hot) in summer (November)
Report Check-InVery nice and open minded people. Small curio. Nice restaurant. Shower and toilet for campers together with guests from dormitories and rooms.
Report Check-InNice back packers, good camp site. 5$ per person per night, rent a tent $7 there are also dorms and rooms. Free wifi. Restaurant is cheap
Report Check-Invery nice hostel with campsite, quiet, free tea & coffee, bar, close to city centre
